Seasonal XP

Sasin
XP Award: Larceny: 1 XP
Lore Award: None

Ash'eny
XP Award: Larceny: 1 XP
Lore Award: Syliran Knights 3rd Regiment Black Company, Contact (Sergeant Knight Tucesi Deerstalker)
Ledger: Onyx and silver pendant, +350 gm to be used for Housing, +150 gm for Seasonal Wages
Notes: Congrats on finding some purpose, my good sir! For the duration of the Fall, you will be employed by the Knights. As such, you are guaranteed two modded threads with me for the season at the time of your choosing. Otherwise, you are welcome to "assume missions" and self-mod or play them with other PCs. These missions will include things like spying on people, stealing documents or objects, infiltrating the beggars/thieves of certain neighborhoods, and even testing the attention/response of Knights who are on duty, as well as reporting anything you find out on your own. You can make them all up as you go, as your plot will come from the modded threads. If you have any questions throughout the season, or if Ash gets caught and needs Tucesi to step in, just send me a PM. Have fun!

PLEASE NOTE: Finals are over, but summer is eating my soul. As such, as of the end of June I will not be accepting any new quests/modded threads until I finish some of the ones I've already started/agreed to. My apologies for this, but I don't want to be unfair to those who have been waiting for replies!

Wild Streets - Spring/Summer 510(ALL Beggars, Thieves, Etc)

(Sorry for inactivity dusk. Yes, i'm using larceny: 15 Reimancy: 30)
(Also, Dusk, Gareth's cloak is waist level, not full length.)
Gareth turned, a smirk on his face as he raised his hand towards the man, all fingers but the middle closed.
"Petch You."

He spun on the spot, sprinting quickly within a second, his feet barely touching the ground.
One of these day's, i'm going to run out of luck. Here's hoping it ain't today.
He shoved aside people quickly as he ran, black smoke gathering slowly around his fingertips.
Oh come on, just a bit more res... A little... Ah, perfect.

Gareth spun around, as he spread the Res around him, forming them into five pillars which rotated around him. A snap of his fingers, as the Res blazed into flame, the searing heat rushing outwards in one grand motion. Gareth ducked, rolling onto the floor, racing away. Pity he never saw the stone. As he hit it, his ankle distorted, and fell flat onto the floor.
"Damn!"
Slowly, he began to pick himself up, groaning.

Wild Streets - Spring/Summer 510(ALL Beggars, Thieves, Etc)

Postby Eanos on September 22nd, 2010, 3:30 pm

oocJumping in as per the Announcements post, hope it's OK
Summer 60, 510 AV

Most of the time the Isur was happy to remain by himself and to immerse himself into either his work or his studies, or indeed both as the two were very much compatible. Working at the Ironworks earned him some coin, coin which he didn't as yet have much need for spending given that he had bed and board at the Ironworks and little inclination for socialising. Sometimes though loneliness crept into his heart and he'd get out to wander the streets, not on the whole with any intention to talk to anyone but simply to be in a place which was noisy with the sounds of people and where if he closed his eyes he could imagine that he was still back at home. The surroundings helped with the relative gloom of some places and the feeling of solidity and weight of the castle overhead.

Sometimes though he had other things in mind. The Isur on the whole were a very reputable and law abiding race, one for whom honour was a thing of relative inflexibility. Sometimes he was surprised that the Knights did not draw some Isur, especially from the more militant clans. His clan though took a rather different view of things. Perhaps some were right and magic corrupted the soul. What was a fact though likely unknown beyond the solid walls of his home city was that the Pitreus clan had a slightly different version of honour than the others.

Eanos wasn't above using underhand methods of getting himself ahead, though he was cautious about the Knights. It was a long way back to Sultros and he had not the slightest intention of getting caught and kicked out of the city or worse. But here there was no clan network which he could use and it was time that he made his own. It entailed taking risks, but sometimes risks needed to be taken.

Now he was in the Bazaar, but not on the main thoroughfares, instead he was deliberately choosing the seediest places and stalls. The Knights were an ever present threat to the criminals of this city but he doubted that it prevented all crime, else why did the Knights need to maintain their patrols?

He had an eye out for anyone selling anything of metals, especially the more expensive ones or jewellery. In particular he was looking for someone who might be selling things they should not have been able to afford. He wasn't naive enough to think that what he wanted would be out on display, he just wanted to make his face and interests known to people who might be willing to take a chance on him.

"I'm looking for gold and silver," he'd open the conversation with anyone who looked like they might be a good prospect. "Broken rings or anything like that? Things which could be melted down?" It was an innocent enough question, but to those whom he was looking for, the opportunity would be obvious. "I've good coin if you've got what I want."

He ducked his head when she pressed a kiss to his cheek, an almost bashful response, but his smile turned a little more friendly. "Ah, no, that was all me. I should have been watching where I was going." Hazel eyes swept over her, and then he held out his hands. "Can I help you carry those somewhere? Wouldn't want you stumbling again. Next guy might not be nice enough to catch you," he chuckled.

The woman, once returning her grip on the various bulky items she had, gave Murdoch a a wink and shook her head slowly. Looks like somebody had a crush on Doc. "You are too kind. I think I have it from here though. Thank you." The woman stood there for a moment, as if thinking of something else to say, obtained a faint pinkish color to her cheeks and began to walk off again, a little more briskly now in fact.

Even though Doc must have felt himself a smooth criminal and managed a perfect theft, there was something that caught his eye. The Syliran Knight that had nearly chewed Murdoch out for bumping into the lady (only to be impressed by the man's false chivalry), was being talked to by some younger person, a kid probably fifteen or sixteen in age, and his finger was pointed directly at Doc. Thomas (the Knight) slowly turned his head to look at Doc, there was confusion, suspicion, and doubt all in that look in his eyes. As of yet though, Thomas made no move towards Doc. Rather, he watched.

OOCSorry for the wait. I didn't see your request until last night. I'm not that great at looking at requests in my office that aren't first on the list.
Bad News Everybody. School is picking up, Exams are beginning to happen, homework is growing time consuming, I may soon be evicted from my apartment, I'm dealing with severe and physical fights among several of my best friends, and I can't seem to find a time to get much needed sleep. I'm terribly sorry, but don't expect to see much of me for a long while.

Wild Streets - Spring/Summer 510(ALL Beggars, Thieves, Etc)

Gareth

As Gareth cursed the man and fled, a cry went up as the Knights lept after to pursue him in earnest.

The crowds that might have offered him anonymity now made it all the easier to follow his head-long run as he shoved people out of his way, leaving a trail of crumpled, yelping citizens behind him.

When he spun and launched clouds of inky black Res, the screams of the crowd turned to terror. And when he ignited them in one great whoosh! they turned to shrieks of pain as one woman's dress caught fire and she fell to the stone floor in utter panic. Another of the columns sent flames licking up one of the tapestries that hung on the wall, igniting it like so much kindling.

The Knights who'd been pursuing him quickly veered off to try and put out the flames, one to the woman and one to the wall hanging; in Syliras, fire always took first priority.

Which didn't mean a lucky break for Gareth. The screams had drawn the attention of every Knight in the area, and they fought against the tide of fleeing citizens to try and get to him.

Of course, he made it easy. His ankle cracked as he missed the step up from the main Bazaar floor to the hallway, and he went tumbling face-first to the floor. A moment later, justice caught up with him.

Crushing, awful weight slammed into his back as a Knight jumped atop him and ground a knee into Gareth's shoulder, dislocating it. There were a chorus of screams - "We need water! It's getting up the wall!", "Call for one of the healers! We're gonna need at least a second level for this", "Get his hands!" It was the last one that was the closest, and the woman's voice advanced on Gareth and his holder. "He's a magician, get his petching hands!" she yelled again, anger clear in her voice.

And then Gareth's arm was yanked out and his palm pressed against the floor, and before he could even fathom what might happen, a metal solaret stomped down right in the middle of his hand, shattering the bones there and causing enough pain to blind him.

"Hold out his other hand," she said coldly.

Wild Streets - Spring/Summer 510(ALL Beggars, Thieves, Etc)

(also, forgot this, Flux:10 Dagger:10)
Shit
Gareth snarled as the knight crashed into his back, wincing as he heard his bones crack. Then, the knight's foot smashed into his hand. Tears welled in his eyes for a moment. At least they only got my left arm... I'll probably regret this later though.

He smirked, as he began to mutter quickly under his breath.
"Life goes on, Death takes the rest, Life goes on, Death takes the rest."
He closed his eyes, he didn't need them for this. Djed coursed towards his arms and legs, and once again, Gareth smirked. He flicked his arm out, throwing off the knight on his hand and the knight on him simultaneously, as he dashed forward, his left arm hanging limply on one side. Grit and blood flowed into his eyes, as he dashed blindly through the crowds. The pain too had gone, and now, now he was running on pure adrenaline, sprinting through the crowds, leaping over any obstacles. His Djed was all but gone, and what was left was enough for a little light show or maybe to light a smoke.

His dagger was on his belt, but he didn't intend to use it. For the first time in a while, he felt alive, he would surely start hurting after this, and he wouldn't be able to use his left arm for maybe an entire season, but he was alive. Now, he ran, knowing that a bunch of men in armor were after him.
"Petch yeah!!"

He was enjoying this. He knew he shouldn't be, but he was enjoying it.

Gareth

OOC NoteUnfortunately, Flux of only 10 doesn't give you the strength to throw off 400+ lbs of Knights and their armor with the flick of a wrist, especially not when you're suffering a crushed hand and dislocated shoulder. Which is a pain you can't ignore. So... this is what you get.

Yes! Gareth had rid himself of the troublesome Knights without much effort, easily ignoring the wounds they inflicted on him. It didn't hurt that much, shyke, it didn't hurt at all. Easy as pie to just jump to his feet and take off down the hallway, leaping over obstacles like a deer in flight, graceful and elusive as he left his would-be captors behind...

Thu-thump.

He felt his heartbeat more than heard it. He wasn't running anymore - wasn't anywhere for that single moment in time.

Tha-thump.

He looked down, and saw six inches of metal protruding from the middle of his chest.

Reality reasserted himself as the illusory victory granted him by Overgiving splintered and dissolved.

He knelt over the man who'd shoved a knee in his back, fingers still curled from where he'd been clawing at the Knight's face after laughing maniacally and using what little strength his use of Flux had given him to roll atop him. He hadn't gotten very far in his attack, though. The woman who'd broken his hand now stood behind him with the hilt of her gladius in her hand and the blade of it shoved through the right side of Gareth's chest.

Tha-thump.

Before he could get a good handle on what was happening - before he could even really feel anything - another blade appeared in front of him and was plunged through the left side of his chest.

As he lifted his head to meet the gaze of his attacker, another Knight bounded up and shoved a shining dagger into his throat.

OOC NoteAnd that, sir, illustrates the consequences of setting magical fires and attacking the Knights of Syliras. Sorry, hon. :)

(So, now i'm dead, now what?)

Gareth blinked, once, twice, blood in his throat. He felt cold, so very cold. He gurgled, as gore dribbled over his lower lip, and mangaed one final action. He spat in the knight's face, and slumped over, managing a single word.
"Petc..."
And everything went black.

(Sorry for short post, Dead guy can't really do much :) )

Moderator's Note:

Eanos

Love the idea of this, but it doesn't really belong in this thread since your character's not a criminal. This thread is mainly for characters who regularly participate in illegal activity that would be hazardous to them. Your post would be more relevent as a self-modded training thread. Which you should definitely do, because with his auristics he'd be great at buying fenced stuff! I would suggest redoing this as a stand-alone thread for the Fall, and then if you do this a few more times then you can participate in the Wild Streets tread for the Fall. However, since your character hasn't done anything illegal in Summer, he doesn't need to participate in the Summer thread. :)

Doc smiled warmly at the woman and cut a half-bow as she took her leave - and as he watched her leave, his eyes caught sight of what looked like someone ratting him out. Petching tattle-tale, he thought, straightening up and half-turning back to look at the table of goods he'd originally been observing before he'd backed into the other woman. But then again, this was exactly why he made it a point to know as many of the guards as he could.

As he moved, he used his body to shield the Knight and the rat from seeing deft fingers pull open the coinpurse and snatch out about most of the coins. These were tucked into his pants pocket, while the woman's purse was shut once more.

He turned as if bored with the table and looked up, and his eyebrows rose as he "noticed" the boy pointing at him and the Knight staring his way. While he feigned surprise, he tucked the coinpurse into the back of his pants.

He gave a dry little smile as he headed directly for the pair of them. "Heyla, Ser Thomas!" he called, his smile broadening a little. "Haven't seen you around the card tables in a dog's age! Not that I enjoy having you take my money, but I do miss the competition," he chuckled, sidling up beside the boy and grinning down at him as well. "Hello, young man. This your new squire?" he asked, patting the teen on the shoulder before folding his hands behind his back - and, in doing so, quietly slipping the near-empty purse into the boy's pocket. It was, after all, a little easier to add something than it was to take it away, and he was well-skilled at both. "How's that new wife of yours? Settling in well, I hope?"
