Just before the 19th Bell
As usual those not working were ready to watch the play. Many could quote it, while others sometimes and failed to reenact it as well as the actors and actresses. The difference was the lack of enthusiasm. The heavy net that had cast itself over Zinrah had left no one untouched. Many a Dhani sat dozing in their seat as they waited for the play to start. Gwen was barely creeping in the Snake Coil looking for an empty seat. She had been going to do something else but she couldn't care to remember. In fact, if she was lucky she'd get to enjoy the play, take a nap, and wake up in time for another nap.
Unlike some who slunk about in full snake form Gwen moved a little quicker in her Dhani form, as it was slightly smaller and allowed for more maneuverability. Not that she needed it, there were more than enough open spaces. But Gwen wanted one that was in the center of the stage, the spot with the best view. And she'd found it with another sitting in it. The other Dhani was obviously too small in any form to be something other than viper, no constrictor would ever be so small unless it was a snakeling. But the thought alone irked Gwen. Vipers had infested the city and spewed from the depths like an infestation. And now they'd stolen her spot.
A low hiss, her own, followed her slowly as she confidently slithered towards the other Dhani. But she was halted by her own fading desire to do anything strenuous. Then finally was entirely halted by soft, nagging thoughts that sounded off in Passa's voice. Long dark hair, a flicker of red eyes, the short stature. A viper with red eyes, why did it bother her? Gwen couldn't think of it, so she shook of the warnings in favor of her rising desire sit. Mostly the desire to sleep.
Several shifts forward and Gwen was directly beside the other Dhani. In that short time she would have to dig to find her real ire. It was too much work. She only wanted her spot. Sourly she slunk into the seat directly beside, speaking without bothering to truly acknowledge the other Dhani. That wasss my ssseat, viper." She spat out the last word, eyes roving the stage for the play that would shortly start. Grouchily her scales slide together, uncomfortable with being so close to the viper, uncomfortable without the extra space she thought she needed. Her large head swung around to face the human-shaped Dhani. To crush one now would be nothing but Siku would frown. Too many would frown now that they had one too many a viper residing. Gwen made to speak but a large yawn interrupted her, as well as the announcement that the play would soon start. "Miiiine."
Dragged out it was hardly a word, and Gwen did nothing more but stare angrily at the viper before slowly resting her head up on the seat in front of her so she could watch.
