Rayage was intrigued by the answers, but he didn’t press any farther fearing that he had already violated his partner’s privacy. She smiled though and gripped his shoulder firmly, squeezing it, ”It is ok, Miro, I am here and I don’t plan to leave you anytime soon.” she told him firmly, instilling a much needed emotional response of security. She tried to be reassuring.

Removing her hand from his shoulder she picked up the glyph that Miro had made her and pointed it at him and said, ”Release” the glyph activated and its effected radiated towards the boy, whatever they were. She could have leeched the scroll, but with the familiar watching her oh so carefully, and with her having not the power to defend herself properly against the being. She didn’t dare step out of line.

”Ok, Miro.” Rayage said, ”When I count to three, you will wake up. You will feel rested, rejuvenated, and fully awake and conscious.” Rayage told him. Pausing for a moment she watched for a reaction before continuing, ”One… You are coming to. You are waking beginning to stir and break the trance…” the words were also projected as a suggestion towards Miro.

”Two. You are almost there. Your thoughts are returning to you, and you feel just about awake.”

”Three. You are awake and fully conscious. You feel like you have just taken a nice, relaxing nap.”

She counted the number and smiled at Miro when he came to, ”Welcome back.” she greeted him, ”It was a success.” Rayage announced to Miro, not at all trying to hold information back. In fact, the faster she could lead him from his trance experience to ‘success and the next steps’ the better off she would be. She wondered how much of it he would remember, but the notes she had read said it should or would be remembered somewhat like a dream unless otherwise specified. ”You were successfully put into a trance.” she sounded happy and excited about the prospect.

”That means we can work on the Zith.” she announced, ”But not until tomorrow.” She felt exhausted from the trance she had put Miro in. ”I don’t have much djed left. Holding a trance, it seems, is exhausting.” she reported to the younger wizard. ”What would you like to work on for our furry friend?” she asked him wondering if he had anything in mind.

The Dark of a Zith Night

Postby Miro on May 25th, 2014, 6:32 pm

A wash of emotion and suggestion poured over the entranced wizard. The rush of hypnotic Djed filled his mind and brought a level of awareness, but also a great deal of security and happiness. The words slowly washed away the darkness of sleep and brought back the light of conscious thought. By the time the third count was spoken, Miro's eyes opened, his body and mind refreshed. It seemed that the trance went well. The Familiar saw everything, but had nothing to say.

As far as Ender was concerned, everything that happened was by his master's choice. It was certainly interesting to hear, but that did not mean he thought any better of Rayage. It was not as if this changed anything. It just proved that even filth could do something that was not completely worthless. Were the Irylid not there, things might have gone completely different. It was a risky move to make, to say the very least. A choice he hadn't any say in.

Miro was quite eager to understand more, to put things into practice, but understood the need for rest. "I still have plenty of Djed left though Rayage. I could create another scroll, get things ready for tomorrow. But you should rest, work on your Alchemy, or whatever it is that you do with your spare time. But I will likely need some time to prepare. You know, for times like these, you should really have a supply of scrolls."

It was a fact of personal magic that there was a limit to safe casting. However this rule was broken by Rayage with the introduction of Leeching. It was explained that these limits could be overcome, but with a cost. Leeched Djed was not the best to cast with, especially with Reimancy it seemed, and the full amount could not be recovered. But magic scrolls could indeed provide a store of extra Djed to cast with.

"You know, if not Hypnotism scrolls themselves, a store of scrolls filled with any type of magic would be fine. Maybe even your Alchemy, if that is a possibility. It is not something that I have ever attempted, with Glyphing or Leeching, but I have never had a problem draining a scroll. I haven't any idea what could be done with your Alchemy and Glyphing abilities, but it could provide quite a bit of Djed to use. Djed that wouldn't have to come from our soul."

It was something he hoped the Alchemist would look into, for the idea of "free Djed" sounded quite appealing. To be able to take any mundane thing and break it apart into a charge of Djed to be absorbed sounded a great ability for a Leecher. "But before we begin with the trance, I think I would like to hear all about the experience. I also think we need to take something into account. I do not think your Zith will so willingly accept our Hypnotism. You may struggle to entrance it."

Rayage laughed at Miros suggestion of having a store of scrolls to draw upon. Of course, he was right, and Rayage had even preached the idea herself. ”You do have plenty of djed left. You could set the stage for tomorrow,” The nuit didn’t mind, ”for our friend here.”

Standing the nuit walked about, thinking about the idea which the younger wizard presented, ”In the past I have stored alchemical reactions into glyphs. However, I have not tried to leech from the source.” The nuit broke her outward thoughts and retreated inwards thinking about the possibilities, of what could happen, but more importantly, was it safe?

Going back to her desk the wizard opened a drawer, and rummaged through things in there to pull out a smaller coin purse. This purse only held two coins, which she had glyphed in the past with the alchemical transmutation of stone. Carefully she opened the bag and took a coin out. She looked at the coin and the dry ink which threatened to crack. The glyphs were old, and it was a wonder that they held out this long. She placed a coin on the desk along with the other one, side by side. She had two, which was perfect for the both of them. Eyes looked up from the coins to Miro and she smiled, ”I do have these two coins leftover from Zeltiva.” Rayage explained, remembering the devious purpose behind the coins was to turn her enemies to stone. A dangerous transmutation to try to leech, ”Would you like to test out your own hypothesis?” The nuit was all about sharing the glory, so to say, with this endeavor.

The coins in sight and offer offered Rayage continued on to what Miro really wanted to talk about, ”The trance went just like the accounts of it said it would. Simple, so to say,” Rayage said, ”but effective. The trance all but nullified the filter of your conscious mind, allowing me to talk directly to your subconscious. With this I learned about your happiest memory,” Rayage told him, ”unfiltered and unrestrained by your normal waking mind.”

Rayage smiled, ”Needless to say, you only talked about what you were comfortable with. By no means is trancing a way to make someone do what they don’t want to do, or talk about what they do not wish.” Rayage frowned, ”Which brings us to our friend. I do believe that it will be exceedingly hard to trance the beast, but it is possible. Though it may be outside our current powers.” Rayage wasn’t sure, but the book did mention that the participants were willing. That was most likely a key to this technique: to be willing, or to think they are willing.

”It would be best if we worked slowly on this…”

The Dark of a Zith Night

Postby Miro on May 27th, 2014, 4:40 am

It was interesting to hear about the Alchemical coins of the past, old as they were claimed to be. "Filled with stone, huh?" Miro mused to himself aloud. It was a curious idea to be toyed with. If activated bad things would follow. By now they were likely unstable, but curiosity bound him to test such a thing. He walked over to take the coin in his hand and turned it over a few times. It was likely best to rid the world of such a thing anyways.

The Leecher focused on the contact his hand made with the cold metal and he could sense the Djed within. He began to focus his will on the connection and draw the Djed stored within the runes drawn on the coin into his body. It offered a slight boost to his total casting pool, but was drained dry within mere ticks. The coin crumpled and lost its form when the magic was depleted. Indeed even world magic stored in Glyphing could be absorbed.

"Seems to work well enough." The ruined coin was dropped on the table. "Though it does not seem like there is much Djed to be gained from a bit of stone." But what was even more curious was the bits of information on the trance. It seemed there was a bit of interrogation done while the wizard was entranced though. It was slightly unsettling, but it did reveal some information. Much worse things could have been revealed, that was for sure.

"So you can pull things from my mind without me being aware. And you can cause me to recall things without my conscious filter. Things that might have been buried deep in my memory. Personal things, things I might not have ever told you, though not quite secrets. Perhaps with proper technique and ample skill in Hypnotism, even the deepest of secrets could be pulled forth. Magical techniques, fears and regrets, all manner of things stolen to gain the upper hand. Maybe even able to implant things not previously there."

It was all that the Reimancer hoped it to be. To master this technique was something that needed to be done. "However it is hardly an understatement to say this will be hard to perform on the Zith. We will need to impress our own will onto it. You know, sometimes that is easier on a weakened target. It would certainly be a better source of Djed than your old coins." Though Leeching was hardly a substitute for a rested soul. It was best to save such endeavors for later.

"For now I shall just perform some Glyphing, store away what Hypnotism I can manage. I do not want to push myself too far however. A single scroll should be plenty." The wizard's material was still out, and he only needed another scroll to work upon. Luckily the lab was well stocked and one was readily available. It was taken back to his area and he readied himself to work again. It took a bit of time for a sigil layout to come to mind, but then he had it.

Miro began his Glyphing by creating a rectangular boxing of the area he wished to glyph. Inside of this rectangle he made a smaller one to create an empty bordering. At each corner he made a square symbol to divide the sides, a design of four overlapping diamonds. In the four borders he drew another rune of calligraphic writing to serve as a barrier. The lines, "A Barrier of Djed. To Contain Djed. Stabilize all within. None shall exit."

He created circle in the center of the rectangle, large enough to take up most of the area allowed. Within it he made a smaller ring and began to fill in the inner most circle. The wizard drew a series of neatly aligned waved circles with an 'X' in the very center. It was tasked as a release focus to unleash the channeled spell. Next he would draw the switch.

The brush had started to run a bit dry, so it was dipped again. Next he began to draw on the next ring, the rune meant to combine the effects of the Hypnotism as it is released. He drew another calligraphic runic phrase, "A switch to combine, all Djed that passes becomes refined." Each of the letters with branching lines that formed small designs to fill in the entirety of the ring.

Now he would make his containment barrier and trigger. He drew a square box around the rings and began to fill it in with a checkered pattern with various runes in each tiny box. Each their own random design tasked as a barrier to contain magic. At the top of the square rune he drew a set of curved lines to create a track to cause the shape to resemble a lock.

Within the empty track for the trigger he began to design an trim of curved lines that curled together like a bed of thorns. Within it he designed another calligraphic rune that read, "Spell Barrier released by the spoken word "Unlock"." And with it he had programmed the release of the barrier and the activation of the scroll. All that was left now were the focuses to hold the Hypnotism.

Within the odd shaped area the wizard began to draw a design across the open length of the large containing rune. The outer barrier would hold it all in to contain and focus the effect. When finally the large focus was filled, all of the Hypnotism within would become concentrated and refined through the switch and release from the center focus.

Miro Glyphed in the style of the Mural Glyph, the technique of drawing a powerful rune in the form of a detailed drawing. The wizard took his time to fill in every last inch he could with as great of detail as he could manage. He started with a sun peaking through clouds in the top end of the scroll. Every individual cloud made with subtle hints to further reveal shape and depth. The shading of the sun's light brushed against them all.

The wizard began to ease the tone of the clouds as he drew lower and formed bolts of lightning cast dawn. Several jagged bolts that crashed down upon an angry and spiteful watery surface. He drew wild currents that collided into swirling vortexes and large waves. With the amount of detail drawn with such a perspective, he easily filled in the space around the center runes. It was a great focus, one he was especially proud of.

Now all that was left was to fill the focus with Hypnotism. That was simple, as before, one set of emotional responses, then one of suggestions. Miro closed his eyes to focus as the paint dried. He began to excite his Djed and practice his mind for Hypnotism. He began to breath in deeply through his nose and release the air from his mouth. It calmed his mind and readied himself to cast.

Finally Miro was confident that the sigil was dry and touched the focus and began to channel hypnotic spells into it. First the suggestions, "Relax and obey, do not resist, remain calm, your will is weak, do as you are told, Rayage is master, Miro is master, must obey masters." It was a bit straining to cast such spells in succession, so he took a moment to gather himself again.

The Hypnotist took another deep breath in and released it and cleared his mind. He focused it around the emotions he wished to push. The feelings to remain calm, completely docile, free of violence. He channeled the emotion for a while before he switched to another feeling. That of being fatigued, weak, without much willpower. He pushed this one for a time before he shifted to the final emotional response. The feeling of obedience, to take pride in obeying, to feel like a pet.

The scroll was done, though it was an exhausting effort. "I am done with my scroll, and it should help. Though I am ready to take it easy for now. Perhaps tomorrow we can continue things. Now we should gather our strength and prepare ourselves. There will be a good chance of success, but only if we combine our greatest efforts. I suggest we use Leeching to weaken the Zith, then attempt to force the magic on it. Let us pass our time until then."

The nuit watched the experimentation with leeching a Miro sucked dry the old coin, and observed his thoughts on the subject of trance. It seemed like a pretty accurate description of what just occurred and he nodded, “Yes,” he affirmed, “but you, the information giver, must be comfortable and willing to give over the information. You must want to reveal the secret, or at least, with hypnotism, think that you want to do that.” Rayage told him.

He kept silent and watched the other wizard through the other dialogue. Rayage had nothing more beneficial to add to the conversation and so wouldn’t waste both their time. It was best that things get done, and the zith be put in his place once and for all. And so the wizard watched Miro curiously as he created his glyph in a style which he hadn’t witnessed before. It was a marvel that glyphing allowed for so much freedom and creativity. In fact, if one thought about it, all magic was like that, but none more so than glyphing and Alchemy.

For now it was time to wait, rest, and recover for magic is done at its greatest when ones soul is well rested…

Spring 12 513 AV

A day had passed and now it was time for the little experiment to resume. The scroll which Miro had created the day prior rested on the desk waiting to be used. Miro had joined her and she was ready to weaken the zith. She looked to him and smiled, ”Ill go first.” she told him, ”The Zith wont see my spell coming.” she told him, ”However if you just go up and touch him you might hurt. The zith, as he is, is an animal.” she told him stepping towards the cage.

One step was all it took toward the zith for it to go into a frenzy. It bared its teeth and raged, trying to be threatening. It threw its body against the cage and the hands reached, grasping for the wizard, eyes showing the deepest of disobedience. It looked to be saying that if it could only get ahold of his captures, then he would make him pay. Such acts were worthless, futile, but made Rayage a bit on edge.

Calling upon her djed she would use the discipline of Projection to ensure her success. It was like she told Miro, the zith wont see her spell coming. She brought up her hand so it was level with her face. She took it and stared at it, willing the djed to concentrate at the point in the center of her palm. The djed responded to her will and started to gather there. A faint tingling sensation gathered in her palm and and began to spread with the djed. Wherever the tingle was, the djed was.

It started out a small spot on the palm of the wizard, but grew as she concentrated on her hand. Further and further the sensation spread, going up into each finger. One by one each was overcome to a numbing feeling as the wizard concentrated on getting the djed in place. A chime or two passed with the wizard feeling out her hand with the mental direction of the djed. Her entire appendage now was felt like it had ‘fallen asleep’, it tingled and prickled as the djed danced between the space of the astral body and the physical. Or at least the growing space driven by her will. The djed would act as a buffer, pushing her astral body out, willing it to separate the layers of her soul from her physical shell of a body.

The djed slowly coaxed and pushed the astral body out. The hand itself collapsed at the wrist, unable to be held up anymore as the astral form Puppeteering it was removed. The feeling in her fingers slowly began to go away, being consumed by the djed as they were lifted from the mortal shell. It feeling of nothing spread like a disease, up from the palm, up from the origins of the fingers and to their very tips. The entire hand went limp, and upon that happening, Rayage extended her hand forward. Her astral limb however stayed where it was in front of her face. The astral body had stretched to allow her hand to remain where it was even though her physical body moved. She needed to consciously move her astral form and so concentrated on it.

The movement was clumsy and uncoordinated. Although she was used to using the astral body in her physical, control of it outside her body was unnatural, and a state which she needed to get used to. The astral appendage trembled forward, fingers opening, reaching or the furred zith. Grabbing ahold of one of the ziths outstretched hands, the nuit grabbed the wrist, wrapping the hands fingers around and empowering it with a pulse of djed to become tangible.

The weak grip registered with the zith the creature, and he looked confused when it felt the slight pressure of Rayages astral body upon its body. Now, with contact made, the wizard began to imagine the ziths energy become hers. She pictured the ziths energy flowing into her astral appendage, from the astral body and into her own, only to burn it fueling the djed required to keep her astral body in control. Although it did not cover all the cost, it did lessen the burden on her own djed pool.

The zith was a point of light in the nuits mind as she continued to leech upon him. She was the darkness surrounding the light, closing in on it, drawing off parts of it, and eventually the light began to fade and become part of the dark. More and more the light flowed into the darkness, feeding it, as she drained the zith slowly. The zith didn’t know how to react, and staggered backwards forcing Rayage to take a couple steps forward to keep contact with the being.

”Now Miro. Lets do this.” she said.

The Dark of a Zith Night

Postby Miro on June 25th, 2014, 4:56 am

Miro had waited the night away in the darker corner of Rayage's Lab. It was easy to relax and rest a bit there, just shut his eyes and let everything slip away. At first he thought long on his magic, on what he had learned of Hypnotism, but eventually his mind stilled. The wizard began to draw breath in through his nose and release it from his mouth and practice his breathing exercise to center himself.

The bells had slipped away after the initial bits of meditation. At some point the breathing exercise became automatic and inner peace was achieved. A still mind could rest and be fresh for magic the next day. It did not seem like long before Rayage stirred Miro from his resting state to begin the days events.

The Alchemist would go first, he claimed, able to use stealthy magic on it somehow. An interesting claim to make. It was enough to draw in Miro's attention. He focused his senses on Rayage and began to expend Djed attuning his aura to the Nuit's. It was clear something was happening.

The Auristic sight slowly came to focus, a surge of Djed within Rayage's arm. Then the most amazing thing happened, it seemed as if the Nuit's astral body split from his physical one. The limb fell limp as the astral body emerged from within the physical shell. It was a marvelous sight, the astral limb only able to be perceived by the magical sight.

It was truly beautiful, this strange magic, whatever it was. The Aurist gazed at the astral limb, an ethereal arm outlined by a shell of swirling color. It stretched out to grasp the Zith, and the wizard could sense what happened next. It was something familiar to him, Leeching. A flow of Djed could be sensed flowing from the Zith and into Rayage.

The astral limb seemed to darken as the Leeched Djed flowed along it and into the Alchemist's body. It was quite amazing to witness such a thing. To the average person it would be impossible to understand what was happening. Perhaps just as hard to identify the source. Rayage signaled that it was Miro's turn to act.

The key to this would be to subdue the Zith physically and mentally before the scroll was applied. Miro flared his Djed and began to expand his aura of influence to impress the Zith as he started in upon it. He reached out hand to grasp the creature by its arm tightly as he focused his Djed on the Flux. He redirected a powerful surge of Djed from his legs and into his arm as he pulled the limb outward.

The Zith was pulled hard to the bars as it hissed and screamed. It attempted to fight for its arm, but was weakened already. The Hypnotist began to impress his will onto the creature as he squeezed its hand began to sap Djed. He concentrated hard on this connection and pulled on the remaining Djed into his own body.

Miro began to impress a powerful combination of emotional responses. Simulated feelings of calmness, obedience, respect and loyalty. It was a burden on his mind, but the creature's own Djed eased the strain. Eventually the flow of Djed slowed, and the Leecher ceased his drain. He wanted the creature to still hold consciousness.

Though it did not seem to have much will left to fight. The emotions imprinted were not ones likely that it knew, but nonetheless would have an effect. The nearby scroll was laid out, and the slumped down Zith did not even make an effort to pull his arm back in the cage by now. The scroll was taken and prepared for use.

The scroll was set upon the Zith's limp arm and the activation word, "Unlock," was spoken firmly. There was a flash of light as the sigil flared with activity and released its spell. Now everything was left to Rayage. Miro had done his part for now. Perhaps a bit more assist could be given for the trance, but that would be the limit.

The wizard spoke confidently to the Nuit what must be. "Now we have only to trance the Zith. It seems tame enough for now, and in its weakened state poses no threat. I have used my Hypnotism on it along with the scroll, and now you must induce a trance. I shall assist you in whatever way possible, but the rest is up to you." This was what they had been working for. They were so close.

The Dark of a Zith Night

The nuit watched happily as the zith flailed and thrashed, breaking out of its initial shock, only to have Miro grab it by one of its arms and tug it towards the cage disabling the creature yet again. Tuning in her focus once more the wizard kept on draining the zith, the djed flowing through the astral body into her physical shell. She quickly used what little djed she gathered from the zith to help sustain her astral limb, which stretched to meet the zith on the floor. Her hand never left the wrist of the creature.

More and more she sucked the djed out, and it was interesting to note the feeling of the djed change slightly as Miro started in as well. There seemed to be a tugging sensation, a feeling which wasn’t present before, a grappling of the djed in another direction and to Miro. A tug of war for djed began as the zith was being drained more and more. The nuits mental picture of the ziths djed going into him remained unchanged until the flow of djed began to become a trickle. She didn’t want the zith to be unconscious, and it seemed that Miro noticed it too for the tugging sensation started to stop and eventually the nuit couldn’t feel it at all.

The zith was now on the floor of his cage, the metal prison holding him securely in the lab. Miro quickly applied hypnotism of his own, and used the scroll, then instructed that it was Rayage’s turn and that it was their chance to put the zith in a trance. The nuit nodded and looked down at the zith with a faint smile. Her astral limb let go of the creature and floated up towards the limp hand. As djed forced it out, it would be her will to put it back in.

Her astral limb slowly aligned itself with the limp hand held out in front of her. She brought it up to her face and stared it. She slowly envisioned the astral hand rejoining the physical shell, the djed used to push the limb away, now being used to put it back into place. Starting with her fingertips she pictured each astral finger and their physical counterpart aligning up perfectly. The djed drew the astral hand back into place, guiding it into its proper place. Slowly the wizard began to will each fingertip back into place, the djed pushing it out vanished, and the tips sort of snapped back into place. There was something of an electrifying feeling as she did this, the astral body rejoining the physical, sent a sort of jolt through her hand.

She moved her djed from the tips and fingers downward, inviting the astral limb back in. The relinquishing of the djed allowed space for the two bodies to once again connect. Feeling started to return to her fingers and they twitched occasionally as the rest of the process was being undergone. These spasms happened until the entire hand was put back into place. Only then did she regain full control of her body once more. The entire process of reattaching took a couple chimes as the wizard had carefully considered each part of the astral limb which was detached.

With her hand back in place the wizard made a fist with it and released and fist again and released, testing her work and to see if there was any lingering bits of the astral body which had yet to reattach itself. When she was satisfied with her results she brought her hand down and turned her attention once again to the zith. She kneeled down in front of its cage, ”It’s ok.” She said her words whispering the poison of a hypnotic influence in them. The very words themselves became a suggestion of sorts, implanting themselves within the mind of their victim. Along with those simple words an emotional response of calm was pushed into the zith, who was weak enough to just accept what was happening.

”You don’t need to struggle anymore.” she told him, her hand reaching out for the exhausted creature. Going through the bars she placed it on his chest and began to ‘pet’ him comfortingly. She offered him a soft smile, ”Relax” the suggestion was thrown into its mind, and Rayage knew that it was accepted as the muscles of the zith reacted to her touch, first tensing and hard, but then they became softer.

The ziths breathing was labored as the shock of having his djed drained made his body go into overdrive, but the hypnotic influence seemed to be calming him down quite a bit, ”Relax.” Rayage repeated herself, ”Relax and don’t struggle.” they hypnotic voice kept on suggesting the same things as she gently stroked the fur which the zith had.

”I need you to close your eyes.” she told him, ”Close your eyes and you will not hurt anymore.” she said watching the zith close his eyes, his breathing had calmed down quite a bit but still wasn’t anywhere near where she wanted. The body was in shock, the mind was confused, it was the perfect time to influence the zith.

”Close your eyes and relax. Don’t struggle. Don’t fight it. Just listen to my voice and follow.” Rayage said, more djed being exuded from the wizard as she kept on stroking the zith. His belly went up and down, and he calmed down even more in the weakened state he was in. The stomach slowly rose and fell, and it was like he was sleeping, but wasn’t. ”Follow along to my voice.” she said, removing her hand from the creature and standing back up to gaze down at the incapacitated zith.

”Are you following?’ she asked, only to get a slight snarl in response. She took that as a yes and smiled. She began to pace around the cage triumphantly; her steps were soft though, as she continued to examine the zith, ”Good.” she said, ”You are a good boy.”

”Being a good boy means listening to me, and following what I say.” she said, ”You want freedom, right?” she asked only to receive another slight snarl in response, ”Being a good boy allows that. You just need to listen. You just need to obey me. Obey Rayage.”

”Its not that hard.” she said, ”We are your masters, and you serve us.” her djed flowed freely from her as she continued casting the spell of suggestions. ”You will follow our commands and requests without question.”

She looked towards Miro to see if he had anything to add, ”You will feel happy doing so.” she said, ”because our happiness is your own. Your happiness and joy comes from us.”

”You get pleasure out of serving us.” she said pausing to let the words sink in. Her lips curling in a sadistic sort of way as she thought of what else she could do to influence the zith. The trance had been a success, and she could almost feel the ziths mind absorbing her every word. In the state which the zith was in, it was hard to note any real transition, but the ziths reactions alone stated the success of her magic.

The Dark of a Zith Night

Postby Miro on June 29th, 2014, 11:25 am

Miro observed the way Rayage operated with extreme interest. His presence oozed of Djed, charisma and another strange feeling. It was one that was hard to place, but then it became apparent. Yes, it was that parental vibe, that almost motherly feeling the Nuit possessed. To see it be used this way, to manipulate a lesser mind, it gave chills. It was almost as if this could have been used on the Reimancer to steer him, but that was a silly thought.

No, this was something else, a commanding presence. A nurturing tone, but with a powerful layer of authority. It guided the Zith carefully, just as Miro remembered being guided. All this before the darkness that enveloped him. To see the technique from the outside, it was a marvel, quite astonishing. Yes, the novice Hypnotist would take notes, learn all he could. But to just observe was not enough in a lesson, for participation was also required.

Miro thought about this motherly feel that Rayage presented. It was soft, nurturing, endearing. Yes, it would inspire a positive reaction, make a willing target. A Hypnotist needed a medium of casting, and now the wizard had his. He began to focus Djed to his vocal cords and hum softly a melody, though simple, quite soothing. In this tune was a manipulative force, the means of influence.

So simple it seemed to connect with the Zith. There was no natural refusal of the hypnotic Djed, no strain of casting the spell. The full effect of the magic seemed to be received. But the nature of the spells remained simple, as that was all that could be accomplished. A set of emotional responses to start was always best. Inspired feelings of trust, loyalty, respect and compassion. It took a while to convey all of these, but the melody easily carried the spells.

But next things would get a bit more complex, into the realm of suggestion. Yes, to convey these spells, it was a bit more difficult, but only in making an effective message. Miro had only a few simple messages, but conveyed them with great conviction. To start, "Obey Miro," then, "Obey Rayage," and finally picking up steam, "Happiness exists only in obeying." The suggestions, simple as they were, were effective.

It was enough to fatigue the caster though. Even in the trance, with the ease of casting, there was a deal of fatigue involved. Much of it mental, a bit of confusing that overtook the mind. Though as well there was strain in his vocal cords. It was a typical sign of performing the magic too hastily, and it meant that a break was to be held. Perhaps it was just best that the use of magic was forwent entirely for a while. There was no need to take any unnecessary risks.

But by now it seemed that both Rayage and Miro were done with the experiment. Hypnotism was one of those things meant to be progressive, so Alric had taught. It was possible to affect the mind in one session, but the greatest changes were done over time, in many sessions. The Reimancer spoke to the Nuit plainly of this. "I do not imagine there is much more to be done. Only so much can be achieved in one day, but without doubt we have had an effect. And I have learned so much from participating in our experiment. Thank you for this."

Rayage watched wordlessly as Miro intervened. He began to hum a soft sort of tune and the air tingled with the djed the boy radiated. Miro was a quick learner, that was for sure. Something in the boy Rayage took pride in. There was a simple complexity to the method the other wizard employed and she smiled at the display. There was nothing more to do than to wait for Miro to finish his spell as well. And so she waited, and observed, watching both the boy and the zith with great interest…

”You are right Miro.” Rayage told him, ”Only so much can be done in a day, but our time is not limited.” she said, ”We have an infinite amount of it, and so I am in no hurry.” she announced turning from the boy, from the cage, and walking to her desk. She grabbed a quill and ink well and some parchment and started to record some of her more basic observations about the little experiment.

Some chimes of quiet writing passed as Rayages notes grew, the wizard striving to record the experience and observations she was able to collect. Though she still sensed the lingering presence of the other wizard, she frowned to herself, but looked up with a smile, ”Miro,” she said, ”I still have more experimentation to do, and so Im going to leave the zith in that state for a while.” she said, picking up the quill and dropping it back into the ink well where it stayed as the nuit got up.

”My observations are not quite complete and for this to work Im going to need to be able to concentrate fully. That means no distractions.” she said gesturing towards the door of her lab, before she turned back to her writing, picking up the quill and kept at recording what she had done.

"Please feel free to come back a bit later though." she added, not even bothering to look up from her work. It seemed to be more of an afterthought than anything else.
