Saraphina Skyglow |
Appearance Race: Kelvic / Northern Tiger Gender: Female Age: 3 Years Birthday: 69th Winter 511 AV Birthplace: Skyglow Hold in Avanthal City. Bondmate: Yuri Lehrer. Saraphina has always, and will always turn the heads of people when she walks through a crowded room….or even a not so crowded room. The feline Kelvic stands 5' 8'' and is quite well muscled and trim, a very fit looking women. Born to very plain and average looking parents, Saraphina has a thick and luscious head of wavy reddish orange hair that falls down to mid back and has a tendency to float in the wind, giving her the appearance of having a burning halo around her face. She has fair, blemish free skin that many have said matches the color of a pale rose petal. Large, expressive golden eyes flaked with speckles of green and brown grace Saraphina’s face and her pupils are often seen as cat-like black slits in bright lit areas. Saraphina has sharp, fang-like canine teeth that sometimes poke into her lower lip and it took her many months to learn to talk without biting her tongue, though she has manage to master speaking without slurring the words around her animalistic teeth. Her nails on her feet and hands are slightly longer and more pointed than that of a normal human, but just as easily broken and of no use as a weapon. A tall and lean women, Saraphina doesn’t see herself as the head swivelling, raging beauty others can plainly see. She had simple tastes, not desiring anything of substantial wealth. No pricings, scars or tattoos mar her body. Like most Kelvic’s, Saraphina’s movements belie an unnatural grace and flawless coordination. Having grown to her maturity in the harsh, northern city of Avanthal, Saraphina is unaccustomed to the hot, humid climates of the warmer areas of Mizahar, so when exposed to the sunlight for long periods of time, her skin tends to develop light brown freckles across her cheeks and nose. Nevertheless, she can adapt rather quickly to most weather conditions. In her Northern Tiger form, Saraphina weighs in at over 300lbs and measures almost 10 ft. Pale to fox orange fur broken by striking black stripes and wickedly long and sharp teeth make her a fearsome sight for even the most hardened warrior to stand against. Her feline senses remain sharp and alert in her human form. Saraphina has much better vision and a heightened sense of smell in her human form and her agility is almost unmatched. Scars and Injuries 3rd Day of Fall 514 AV: Saraphina was hunting and was injured by a large buck's antlers on her right shoulder. The wound took a week to heal and left a rounded patch of scar tissue over her shoulder joint. Character Concept Saraphina, like most Kelvics, displays her animal instincts in her human form. Somewhat aloof and highly independent, Saraphina often ignored or walked away from the teachings of her single Mother in her early years. That is not to say that the Tigress shifter is naïve or dull witted, quite the opposite. Saraphina is quite well educated for a Kelvic, mostly because of the efforts of her Mother. Make no mistake though, Saraphina is a predator at heart. She feels somewhat uncomfortable in crowded areas, preferring solitude over the bustling cities. She is still rather curious and sometimes finds trouble unexpectedly. She is fiercely protective of anyone she comes to care for, which to date is only her Mother, and will not hesitant to fight to the death if needed. Character History Saraphina’s parents were plain and normal humans, or so her Mother, Callimus Skyglow says. Her Father was a drunk and a homeless beggar who somehow managed to weasel his way into her Mother’s home for a few short months. Once the useless fool found out Callimus was with child, he fled into the night wind and the widow never heard or saw from him again. Such was her Mother’s anger and disappointment at her lover’s cowardly retreat that to this day, Saraphina still does not know her Father’s name. She simple refers to him as ‘That Man’. Still, despite her incredibly normal bloodline, Kelvic code must have been in one or both of her parents past, for Saraphina’s Mother knew within days of her birth that her child was not like her. At only one week old, Saraphina was already the size of a 1 year old human child. Alarmed by this, Callimus consulted the healers of Skyglow Hold. As Polar Bear Kelvic’s were well known to be guards to the Goddess Queen Mowen, Saraphina was easily identified as a Kelvic and Callimus was educated in what to expect from her child. Even with a knowledgeable Mother, Saraphina did not face an easy childhood. As most Kelvic, she grew extremely quickly, probably too quick for her Mother’s liking. Saraphina often would wander into the snow and ice covered wilds of Taldera. Keeping her feral instincts honed and sharpened by hunting some of the larger prey animals in both her Animal and Human form, Saraphina developed a unique weaponless fighting style, which complemented her feline agility and heightened senses. Saraphina’s Mother was a simple seamstress and did not make much money. Saraphina did what she could to aid her Mother, often selling her clothes, pillows and other fabric creations in the marketplace. Surrounded by the highly artistic people of Skyglow Hold, Saraphina soon became fascinated by the intricate sculptures created by the talented hands of the Vanthaian people. Taking such an interest, some of the kind-hearted artists educated the curious Kelvic in their craft and Saraphina’s carvings soon came to be see in the markets and bought in a bit more coin to help her struggling widow Mother. Saraphina was a common sight to see in the Skyglow markets, but unfortunately, so were several other traders. Particularly, sea faring men that had a habit of quietly taking young women from cities and departing shortly after so as not to be caught by the local guards. The red haired Kelvic had the unfortunate luck of drawing the attention of one of these groups of oceanic pirates, one crew known in the darker circles as 'The Crimson Blades', a notorious gang of pirates that travelled the seas and often partook in slave trade. The captain of the ship, Nicholi the Scarred, noticed Saraphina when browsing the markets and was immediately smitten with the exotic beauty. His attempts to befriend and woe her were meant with cold rebuffs, as had the scent and body signals of a weak willed man that held no interest for Saraphina. But the hardened and heartless pirate saw in Saraphina only a prize to be won and so he sent froth his crewmen to steal her away from her Mother’s cottage in the night. Knowing that the Vantha culture would not allow for a Kelvic to be so easily removed from Avanthal, Nicholi placed a tight metal collar on the Tigress to prevent her from shifting and killing him. Using the cover of night to mask the ships departure, the Crimson Blade pirates fled from Avanthal heading towards the port city of Zeltiva. Nicholi proclaimed to Saraphina that she was his property and she was to accept him as her new master. Stubborn, headstrong and filled with fight, Saraphina refused to be broken by the cruel captain. Nicholi was enraged by Saraphina’s resistance and strong will. He'd hoped to garner an exotic prize in the tiger shifter, a new slave for his ship. Thus, Nicholi threw the Kelvic girl into the damp and dark hold of his ship. For seven days and seven nights, Saraphina went without food or water. On the morning of the eighth day, when her strength was nearly spent and she thought all hope lost, the trapdoor to the smugglers hold opened and a figure walked into the gloom. With blurred vision and a bone dry mouth, Sarphina looked to her captor with the intention of spitting her last breath out in defiance. But it was not the heartless slave collector Nicholi who approached the half dead Kelvic, but his younger, fair haired brother Augustine. The blond brother had long been forced to witness his sadistic brothers treatment of both the ships crew and all those taken prisoner. When he'd seen how Saraphina had been treated by Nicholi and bearing haunted memories of pervious victims, Augustine could take no more. Bearing a small metal key and holding eyes filled with kindness, Augustine unlocked the binding collar holding Saraphina. Whispering a heart felled apologise for his arrogant and heavy handed brother, the two slipped away from the hold. While the remainder of the crew lay asleep or past out from drunken celebration, Augustine lowered a small rowboat into the water. Nearby to the pirates ship was a trading route and Augustine knew that a merchant ship carrying supplies to Zeltiva was to be pillaged by the Crimson Blades on the morning. Taking the oars, the blond seafarer transported a weak Saraphina to the ship and arranged for her passage to the port city. The red haired women was to close to death to ask for Augustine to stay with her, and when she woke several days later, she was told the her rescuer had returned to the pirate ship. Saraphina didn't understand why Augustine would do such a thing, but the ship had already moved away to avoid the impending attack so there was little the Kelvic could do about it. When she was stronger....perhaps then she would seek out and thank the man that saved her life. Sending a letter back to Avanthal to assure her Mother that she was safe was next. Already enroute to a new city, Saraphina decided to continue with her explorations into the world. Summer 514AV After successful landing in the port city of Zeltiva, Saraphina found herself far too curious about her new temporary home. Having arrive later in the summer, she found a fellow Kelvic, Enthere, and a quick friendship was formed. The two formed a close bond and a joint campsite on the outskirts of the city where Saraphina was free to come and go as she pleased. Fall 514AV With the shifting of the season to a cooler air, Saraphina sought employment in the port city. With her combat talents, she was accepted as a mercenary in Zeltiva, reinforcing the Wave Guard patrols and helping to keep thieves out of warehouses among some tasks. Panic grabbed the city with the influx of the sea dwelling serpentine race known as the Ivyvess. Saraphina, being free spirited and believing that everyone should be given a fair chance in the world, stood at the Dhani's defence when the citizens of Zeltiva fell prey to their fear and tried to force the snake shifters from their shores. But the most significant change in the young Kelvic's life during this season was finding her Bondmate in the honerable mercenary Yuri Lehrer. With her instincts fulfilled and the need to move itching through her veins, Saraphina and her Bondmate made for the Fortress City of Syliras. |
