It was funny how certain words could trigger the memories of old, for in the instant that Cecilia spoke, Nickolai began to remember. He recalled that cold, rainy evening when he returned to Zeltiva, risking his own hide to do so. He recalled braving the city streets, hiding his face with every step as he diligently searched for that which mattered most...and when he found her, he made a promise. On that day, he dried her eyes and promised to never again leave her side; and that in all things they would be together. That was the day that the two became one, bonded for all time. That was the day that Cecilia claimed what was hers...and that memory caused a smile to erupt onto Nickolai's face. "That's right, we're in this together. Always."
His words were simple, yet their meaning was boundless.
As her fingers laced through his own, Nickolai took a step closer and leaned forward; peppering her lips with the very same affectionate kisses that she had planted on him. All the while, his smile never wavered; for he was genuinely happy to see the love of his life happy. Although their moment was sweet, he craved to be closer and thereby slipped his fingers out of her grasp. However, he did not abandon her; he instead snaked his arms around her. With his brow touching upon hers, he graced her lips with his own once more before giving her the most playful of winks. "I don't say this often enough," he began, speaking in that low, "romantic" tone that was reserved just for her, "but I love you Cecilia. I love you beyond words."
And with that said, his fingertips slid about her wrists whilst he stepped backwards, ultimately planting his bottom onto the nearest chair. Without the slightest warning, he then guided Cecilia onto his lap and chuckled all the while. "Now then, what sort of trouble ought we get into? Now that my night belongs to you." he said, leaning his chin up so that he might kiss her cheek.
