Summer 39, 514
Nightfall. Darkness. The end of a hard days work, for most, yet not for the inhabitants of the underworl. Filled with all kinds of people, whom loyal citizens of Kenash would call "The Scum of the Earth!" these criminals frequented the dark alleyways at the dawn of nightfall. While all loyal citizes were sleeping, these had just begun their working hours. Using moonlight as their sunlight, they had adapted to stealing, murdering, and thievery in order to make a living. They only feared each other and the consequences of failing a job. In short, Kenash was not a good place to be in the darkest hours of a day.
Yet, Jacques found himself commiting the worst mistake any seasoned citizen of Kenash knew, never venturing into the slums of Kenash at night and rarely during the daylight hours. Because a source had told Jacques that he would find information regarding the deaths of his parents, Jacques had left te safety of his house in order to meet an infomant who supposedly had information. Walking along a road deeper into the city, Jacques observed men sculking in the shadows, women parading their bodies at the street corners, and the eyes of each person watching his every move. Soon, shadows seemed to look as if they would jump out and ensnare Jacques at any moment. Not a coward, Jacques would never back down from a challenge, even if it meant risking his life. Gripping the hilt of his dagger even tighter, Jacques was tense ad prepared for anything that might go awry.
The women on the block began strutting over to Jacques; sashaying their hips, and leaving little to immagination they approached Jacques. At first, they seemed shy, ironic because of their assumed profession, when the first lady spoke up. Dressed in a dress filled with lace and ribbon, her ebony skin glistened in the moonlight. Dropping down barely to her hips, Jacques feared that at any moment the dress would come undone and slip from her shouders. Standing at barely five feet, the woman was gazing up at Jacques with lust in her eyes.
Addressing Jacques, she whispered while she winked, "Sir, are you in need of our… Services? We are always interested in, err, new customers."
"No thank you, ladies." Jacques replied trying not to stare, when out of the corners of hia eyes he saw two men advancing towards him.
