Day 40, Summer, 514 AV
The poisoncrafter had been at the market days before-hand and she had bought leaves of Heldrog from the markets. She had stored them in a dark place, where the light would not penetrate into her room so then when she had the time, she would deal with them at her own leisure, or for when she needed to make some kind of poison. The particular poison she had in mind was a poison that would paralyses someone for quite some time, eight to ten bells if she was exact, depending on how potent it was. Not only that, but it would cause stomach damage to whomever ingested it. Indeed, this poison had to be ingested and a smirk fell onto her lips as she glanced around her room, a room with no window to let the seeing eye in or the seeking sunlight in. It was ideal for her profession, for she did not want those with a mind too curious for its own good. Spotting her creating poisons, for which she may well be hunted for, a factor that she desperately wanted to avoid, so secrecy and privacy were needed. That didn’t mean that she wouldn’t allow someone to hire her for her profession, provided that they kept their mouth shut. Something that she enjoyed about Sunberth, it was full of secrets and people that were willing to kill each other.
A chuckled reached her lips at this as she crossed the room to where a container sat with the Heldrog leaves within its confines and she pulled on an apron. She then brushed the grey strands from her face to simply tuck them behind her ears, before she pulled on a set of gloves. She was excited, like she mostly was when she created poisons and even though this one more than likely wouldn’t cause death, provided they sought treatment for the stomach that was being damaged, than they could be fine. Well, mostly. A smirk slipped into place upon her lips at this thought as she grasped a mortar and pestle, it was made from ceramic and was a small one, but it did the job for her present day uses. Maybe even one day, she may even buy a house, set up a lab within it, have an in house business. Ah Sunberth, she thought to herself as she slowly opened the container, you have been a blessing to me in disguise. Gently placing the pestle upon the desk top, she would then place the four ounces of Heldrog leaves into the mortar, setting the empty container aside.
Picking up the pestle, she would then bring it down upon the leaves, using the hard surface of the mortar’s rounded bowl and the hard edge of the ceramic pestle to grind the leaves in between them. This was to essentially crush the leaves, to mash them into a pulp, for she had not dried them. No, she wanted the juices from the leaves and the stem of the leaves, so she had not picked them either. This would help make the poison much more potent, especially with the amount of leaves used. The more of the ingredient, the stronger the poison, or so she had found out. The sounds of ceramic upon ceramic, grinding and crushing the leaves was music to her ears, it sounded rhythmic and it massaged the tension from her being until she was completely relaxed with her work at hand. Slowly, the leaves within were beginning to turn to mush into the mortar bowl as she worked at grinding the leaves, turning the leaves into a pulp, a pulp that she could use.
