Just Joined, Some Questions

Hello all!

I just joined Mizahar and I've been reading through the welcome PM that has been sent as well as through some of the Wiki material. However, I do still have some questions.

So I noticed that one of the rules was that you weren't allowed to choose a name from a book or movie. Technically, Vronsky is a name from Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, so would that not be allowed? The example that was cited was that you're not allowed to use Harry Potter, but I'd say that Vronsky isn't quite the same thing as Harry Potter...

And also, when you're using skill points, how exactly would you roleplay 0 points in something? For example, if you had 0 points in rhetoric, would you not know how to argue at all? Or if you had 0 in medicine, would you not even know the basics of medicine? So how would the point distribution equate to the character knowledge?

I am unsure of the name question, but from what I've seen and experienced, I would say a 0 means that you know of that skill, but someone must show it to you, or you may stumble upon it in the course of a thread and be awarded the first points from the grader at the end of the thread.

I'll take a jab here, if you don't mind.

Names: Yes, that name is not allowed. Another author used it for their character in their own fiction, and so you have to come up with something for our fiction world. it can be as simple as one letter change, as long as it is your name.

Skills: I don't believe you will ever display 0 in a skill. You either have the skill in your CS or you don't. The wonderful thing about mizahar skill points is they work like real life. If you were a math teacher, you've probably got quite a few skills in math and speech. But just because you specialize in something, you aren't unable to learn something new. You can always go to the library and pick up a book on gardening. You won't ever use your gardening skills in your teachings, but you have the capability to learn new things, and so you did. It's the same with your character. You may only start with 60-65 points, but as you write, your character learns and grows and earns more skills and lores in their adventures.
