With a frown Evalin pressed her hands against the stone floor of the cavern, her face a mask of concentration as her mind whirled in an effort to decipher a new mystery. Just the day before she had seen it, she was certain. With her power, the very ground was torn asunder... but now, why was it that she could not repeat this feat? Tsenrika floated off to the side, lazily drifting as he observed the goings on, though Evalin ignored him.
"Be damned... What was the secret, the key which unlocked this new wonder..." She whispered to herself, her fingers curling into a fist as she bit her lip, "Surely it is not so difficult as that which I see now."
"Consider you," Tsenrika said, coming closer, "That what you saw was nothing more than coincidence."
Glancing sideways Evalin sighed, "In this world there is no such thing. There are those who control that which they do, and those that do not. Refuse I to believe that what occurred is not within my own control."
Evailn could almost see Tsenrika shrug despite his sphere shaped form, "If such be your desire..."
Evailn sighed and looked back to her hand which were still pressed against the ground. How had she done it? Closing her eyes Evailn let herself drift back, to wonder, to ponder. What was it she had thought of when the very earth cracked under her might?
From her inner core Evalin pulled at her djed, letting her res slip from between her fingers into the ground, swirling just beneath the surface in a lazy motion as the Immortal let her mind drift back. She remembered the fight between herself and Tsenrika, the strength they displayed, the might, the power. He was bearing down upon her, words of victory lacing his tongue and his thoughts. She could remember it well, but more than that she felt that rise in her chest, that part of her that exclaimed in passionate force 'I shall not be defeated'. The stubborn refusal to be moved, the power to withstand any blow, the will to never bend and never break. That was what she remembered.
Her brow furrowed in concentration as she brought to bear the images of that time. She refused to give up, refused to back down. Unmoving as the Mountains, as strong as stone. She would not be broken, but harden would her resolve. She let it consume her, fill her mind and soul as rage consumed her when she let forth the fire of her heart. More and more, the weight of this imagining grew, greater and greater such that Evalin could almost feel it pressing upon her shoulders and her arms trembled against the ground. But she did not give up, did not pull back, did not allow herself to bend. And then...
CRACK!
Evalin blinked her eyes open, the weight gone as she looked down between her hands. THere, larger than in the jungle, was a crack where her res had seeped into the stone of the cave. In an instant stone fractured and split, unable to handle the burden of an Immortal's will.
The nuit smiled, "Think you still that it was but a coincidence?"
