OOC: Season of Summer, Day 20, 514

A large smile stretched across Koruma's face as he walked away from the stall. His lanky hands clutched the package tightly to his chest as they scraped against the twine that held his prize. A glitter of excitement hung in the boy's eyes as he walked, his dagger bouncy gaily at his hip with every stride. A feeble chuckle escaped his lips and he pursed them together as he worked his way through the crowd.

Koruma had left that day with a single gold in his coin purse. The rest of his money he had hidden away in his dingy room at the orphanage. Although it wasn't safe there, he knew the townsfolk had sticky fingers and would likely pick his pockets if he carried around a heavy purse. Instead, he had taken just enough to make his purchase. But despite his efforts, Koruma could still hear the silver and coppar coins bouncing around in his pocket.

Another childish giggle escaped the boy as he slipped through the crowd. One hand traveled down to his pocket, grasping the purse, while the other clung jealously to his package. Inside, was his new outfit, bought from the vendors. Frankly, the white shirt and brown trousers were of poor quality and weren't worth much of anything. Yet they were his now, and Koruma had almost nothing to his name.

With a groan, the teen pushed through and made it into a side alley. Despite the clouded sky and cooler air, sweat still dripped down his neck. Stepping carefully, he clung to the wall and the meager shade it offered. The humidity was brutal and with each gulp of air he could smell the rain that was sure to come.

With his hand still clutching his package, Koruma wiped the sweat from his brow. A couple of quick breaths and he dove back into the throngs of people as they shopped and milled about the main road.

Stop Thief!

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on August 22nd, 2014, 8:28 pm

OOCMuse died on me but here you go. Tell me if I need to change anything

Oh boy, what a shyke storm. Half of stumble had been going nuts ever since they had found out the news that morning. No big surprise there. Under normal circumstances Stumble Alley was untouchable, with no profit in it for the gangs and no idiot willing to risk disappearing for good in it's nightly shadows, the street was one of the safest if scariest in the city. Hence, making it one of the teen's favourite loitering spots. But now, someone had managed to take out the Majestic's newest merchandise and drag the corpse to the pier right under the entire street's noses. Needless to say nobody had taken it well. The owner was apparently still freaking out on his own in the shop and wasn't letting anyone get near him. Not wanting to get caught up in the chaos, Eleazar had decided to scarper the moment he had heard what had happened.

It had been warm for a few days now especially this morning, prompting him to leave his coat at home. Good thing too as sweat had already coated his back by the time he had made it from the alley to the Market, the smell of sun roasted rotten fish barely registered as the breeze off the ocean hit him. Holding his arms out wide, the teen felt like he was soaring, flying without wings as the refreshing wind tussled with his greasy hair. After a few chimes of relaxing in the cool stream of air, Eleazar decided he should get to work. Work being a very loose term for what he did.

Searching the crowded streets, the teen spotted a young man carrying a parcel of some sort. He seemed young and distracted, not to mention he was just under a foot smaller than the thief. Tilting his head slightly, pale green eyes tried to figure out the parcel's contents, it wasn't easy from a distance. But it was squarish in shape so maybe a book? Please say it was a book. That would calm down him down for sure, even if only for a bell or two. Listening or clumsily reading tales of brave heroes and cruel villains had always been a soft spot for him. Pacing swiftly up the street towards the kid, the teen's mind went into over drive as his imagination pictured what type of stories could be hiding under the covers.

When Eleazar had determined that he was close enough to the boy, he quickly struck out an arm, forcing his long bony fingers between the lad's arms and his bundle. Throwing his shoulder forward with the intention of smashing it into his victim's nose, the crook mentally geared up his legs to run like petch if he got the bundle free of it's owner. True, thievery wasn't the most noble of career choices he had ever made but could you honestly expect any less in the den of iniquity that made up Sunberth?

Stop Thief!

The issues surrounding the city and the problems with magic meant little to Koruma. He wasn't the poor sod who had been killed, nor was the guy anyone he had known. Although a growing sense of panic started to fill the city, none of it had yet to directly affect Koruma. He stood somewhat apart from the problems. So long as it stayed that way, he didn't particularly care one way or another. The cities residents would eventually drive out the magic users. They always did.

That being said, Koruma didn't exactly go around with out making a few changes to his habits. He wasn't that stupid. The young boy kept a closer eye on his food and where it came from. He carried his dagger everywhere and kept a closer eye on the crowd than usual. Or at least, he tried to.

In all the excitement of his new clothes, Koruma let his guard slip more than he should have. It had been a while since he last splurged on new clothes. Much less clothes that had not been used by another. Although the reality of his situation made his package next to worthless for anyone else. Reality mattered little to the boy.

Suddenly, a shoulder shot out of the crowd and crashed into Koruma's face. He yelled as pain shot through his nose and mouth as he stumbled backwards. Tears welled up into his eyes and a drop of blood ran down his upper lip. Instinct took over and Koruma's hand shot to his dagger, quickly sliding the weapon up to his chest in a defensive position. Koruma staggered as the realization that his package was gone and the thief darting away. "HEY!" Cursing under his breath, Koruma sheathed the dagger as he darted forward. The boy dashed through the crowd head first as pain and anger drove him forward. His lanky legs slapped against the ground with each step. Surprised faces passed him by in a blur as the crowd attempted to part for the thief and the victim. Koruma didn't even bother to continue yelling, and saved his breath as he ran.

Please, don't let him get away.

OOCSorry for the extremely late and short reply! D:

Using his shoulder hadn't been an entirely painless option but the light bruising was well worth the acquiring of the package the boy had held. Feeling that he was clear of his victim, Eleazar held the bundle close to his chest as he zipped through the crowd. The normal shout of outrage followed his trail as the kid gave chase. Smirking the thief gave a quick glance over his shoulder to pin point where his pursuer was. Not too far behind, the kid had obvious had to chase someone down before or maybe he had been the one being chased. Either way he wasn't going to lose this one as easily as he might have liked.

Taking a sharp turn down an alley, his internal street map flew to the fore front of his mind. Where to go, how to lose him. Now those were the questions to ask. The Seaside market was an option but at this time of day it would be far too busy to make a proper escape. Petch, where was he going to go? Legging it down the next alley way, the teen tried to think of how to get away. Heading towards the Commons would just get him killed in a dead end, down Stumble wasn't currently an option, whilst going into one of the taverns wouldn't hide him for long, to the harbour would send him straight into the hands of glum, over worked dock hands. Not the best move but with all the rigging, boxes and people he might be able to find a way up onto a roof then run from there.

With that idea in mind he took the next left turning and the following left after that, pelting down one of the wider streets towards the docks. After a good few minutes of flat out sprinting, Eleazar knew he wouldn't be able to keep up the pace for long. A brief check over his shoulder, the thief slowed down to a walk, readjusting his grip on his stolen prize. Air was gulped in as he panted legs moaning up at him. He was definitely better at short bursts of speed rather than long distance running. If he planned to do the latter of the two, he would definitely need a better set of lungs and along with a better set of legs. Picking up his walking pace to that of light jog, the teen kept moving in case the kid was still following him, the smell of fish and salt beckoning him onwards.

Stop Thief!

Of all his rotten, petching luck. He had just bought those clothes! They weren't even worth all that much to begin with! What's the point in stealing a package of rags anyways? Although knowing Sunberth, just stealing might have been the point.

His lungs burned as he dashed through the crowd after the thief. Each breath was like hot fire that flattened his chest and ripped at his sides. Sweat dripped down his brow and soaked his tunic. Ashen eyes followed the thief through the glare of the day. The other was older and clearly faster as he quickly pulled ahead of Koruma. Not one to be deterred, Koruma pushed himself forward despite the pain as the crowds parted to try and get out of the way. Koruma pushed himself forward with everything he had. His arms and legs pumped as he chased after the thief who was quickly fading into the distance.

Suddenly the thief turned and Koruma was left to scramble after the man. Still in hot pursuit, Koruma's speed was falling fast and his breath was growing shaky. At last he made it to the alley and he skid to a half halt. His arm shot out to grab the side of the building as he forced the turn. His feet bumbled and he felt his body tip forward. A quick jump and the aid of the wall kept Koruma upright. The god's had granted him some small semblance of luck as caught a glimpse of the thief darting into yet another alley.

Gritting his teeth, Koruma launched himself forward despite the growing pain in his side. Desperation fulled the younger teen as she darted forward at what could only marginally be considered a run. Each time he caught a glimpse of the thief it was just in time to see the next turn. Left and left again Koruma went as tried to keep up. By the time the smell of sea was noticeable, Koruma had slowed to a fast walk. His tunic was soaked and hair clung to his brow as he stubbornly continued forward. Koruma's glared at the back of the thief in the distance. Biting his lip, he called out again. "Oye! Those clothes are mine! Give 'em back!" Ducking his head for a moment, Koruma picked up the pace to a light job. Yet not ten paces later, he was back down to walking again.

Stop Thief!

Postby Eleazar Victor Syroin on January 19th, 2015, 2:53 am

It really was hot today, sun and tired legs beating the thief's jog down to an exhausted walk in less than a chime. His breathing was laboured and sweat caked the back of his top as he hit the dock. Adrenaline spiked up through Eleazar again as his target's voice called out behind him. Flinching, the street rat whipped his head round so fast one might have thought his neck would have broken. Shyke! He hadn't lost him, he was right there. What to do? What could he do!? Panicking the teen failed to take note of the boy's words only that he was there and that he, himself, therefore shouldn't be.

Already exhausted he needed a way to slow the kid down. Gah, what to do though? Spinning all the way around on one foot, a thin gap between the back of a building and a large pile of barrels caught his eye. He knew he was a fairly scrawny guy so he could probably squeeze through whilst the kid seemed to slightly better fed than himself. It wasn't a perfect plan but hopefully it would buy him some time. A few dozen speedy paces took him to the gap as his pursuer closed in. His shoulder went into the gap first, followed by his hip, leg and then finally head. It was hard to move but it was pleasantly cooler and darker than before.

He shuffled slowly further in, the process was taking longer than he thought. Gritting his teeth as his ear scraped against the wall, the thief pushed onwards. The other shoulder and hip disappeared though as well. Now flat against the wall he took baby steps, hands down by his side as he shuffled awkwardly through the gap. A sudden wave of claustrophobia had him shut his eyes as even further in the barrels got even closer. It was going to be fine. He just had to keep walking and moving. Clenching on tightly to the parcel with his trailing hand he continued on breathing hitching slightly as he pushed himself closer to the cool brick behind him.

OOCHe's not too far into the gap so you could probably have Koruma grab him if you wanted to and the parcel is in the hand closest to you if you do.
