Appearance:
Kali is all that a Myrian woman should aesthetically be, in her own opinion. With many years left to grow, the young Myrian already stands at a substantial five feet and eleven inches and bears the graceful sinew of a woman who never remains still for long. A long, twisting flame flickers its way up from her heart, over her shoulder, and then down to her elbow, celebrating the day, two years ago, that her grandmother initiated her into reimancy. She also has a small crescent moon and double tiger's tail on her wrist, memorializing the death of her mother and two sisters. From one shoulder to the other, across her back, the phases of the moon are marked with the empty moon being atop her spine and the new moons laying on either shoulder. Her face has not yet been marred by piercings or tattoos for she fears that they will detract from the natural beauty she was graced with. Dark, almond-shaped eyes are often highlighted with white powder. Long, deep brown hair flows down past her shoulders only rarely as it is most commonly kept in some sort of braid. This is, of course, save for the right side which has been mostly shaved in an effort to make it look as if she is proudly sporting the burn that has wilted her right cheekbone, ear and left part of her scalp and the back of her neck unnaturally smooth; such wounds are an after affect of relatively minor Overgiving as she attempted to learn to "breathe" fire.
Personality:
Like most mages, Kaliope is an undeniable narcissist. Until she is proven wrong, she is always right. But, unlike most, Kali enjoys being proven wrong so that she will be able to be right in the future, placing her above others. She is nearly always seen smiling and socializing with others for she has a deep fascination when it comes to inner workings of the minds of others. Some part of her - the pushy and manipulative part - is fascinated by hypnotism but, in the same instant she became fascinated, she also grew incredibly wary of such a magic.
Fighting with steel or iron never appealed to Kaliope. Instead, she was fascinated by the art of Reimancy, something her grandmother, mother, and sisters were incredibly proficient at. She also tends to forgo weapons and use her own body and her environment against an enemy, yet another example of her arrogance.
Though not a cruel person, Kali is one to hold a grudge for years and take every advantage to gain recompense for the most minor slight, even after the aggressor has long forgotten their crime.
Like her mother and grandmother before, Kali is not particularly fond of the males of her race. Instead, she prefers the company of women, for they are more fit partners in sparring and in life itself. Courtship should remain between equals, in her opinion. Men do, however, serve a rather short-term purpose.
Pre-Creation History:
Kali is the third daughter of Ibinzia of the Changing Moon. Growing up, she tried her best to emulate her sisters, often following them out on hunts or patrols only to be scolded when caught or when she returned home, filthy from her efforts. It was common for her to get into scuffles with others her age, as it is for every other Myrian child. Kali, however, was never able to find a weapon that suited her; swords were too awkward and ungainly, spears had a habit of flying from her hands - and not in the good way- and so on. She did discover, however, a strength when it came to using her environment to bring down enemies far more skilled than she.
The year 512 AV was a tragic one for young Kalilope. Her grandmother, mother, sisters, and many of her friends were killed in the Djed storms. But, as it has a habit of doing, life goes on.
