A walk to the Bazaar

As Garland grabbed his hand, Bakar tensed slightly, nervous of the touch. His hand was very warm, in great contrast to his own, cold skin. He shifted, but didn't let go. He was told to stay close, and that's exactly what he intended to do. He didn't think much people would mess with him too much with the muscular Squire beside him.

Hmm... Maybe the library would have been a better place for you. Safer and you might learn something about your magic. I mean its more dangerous for you here than any other person or race. And its not like you'll get any stronger. Garland whispered to him.

He thought on this for a moment. Maybe he's right, but... it's too late now. We're here. We're at least staying for a minute. He looked over at the fighters, strong, muscular men, fighting with such determination. You know, they don't look too bad.. I was expecting some novice fighters here, but these guys.. look pretty experienced. I can barely see some of their movements, they're so fast..

"Looks like an even fight. Wanna make a bet?"

Bakar thought on this for a moment. He didn't know much about fighting, and he really didn't know which one would possibly win. He didn't see to have much to lose, however and agreed. "Sure, alright. I'll take the one in the front. How much do you think is a fair bet?"

A walk to the Bazaar

Postby Garland on September 15th, 2014, 3:26 pm

OOCwanna rp the fighters?

"How about... The loser gets to do what the winner wants, within reason of course." He said and crossed his arms across his shoulders. "Or would you want mizas as the wager?"

The fighter Baker had pointed was on the offensive, though he looked like he was pouring every ounce of energy into each attack, but his opponent was trying his best to keep away from the attacks.

"Seems like this fight might take a while. One of them has the energy to fight for a good while, while the other can probably hold out for just as long. This will be interesting though." Garland leaned back on his seat.

OOCNah, I have no experience with fighting RP. Haven't even read any. I'd much rather you write it, so I can read and learn, then maybe eventually have a fight scene somewhere in my life. :P Who wins or loses, I'll leave completely up to you.

Bakar nodded and looked down again at the fighters. With currently no income, he really didn't want to gamble away his Mizas. "No.. the first terms are alright. That sounds good." He really didn't know how to judge a fight. He just picked the fighter that looked like he was winning.

Garland relaxed in his seat, explaining the situation to him. "Seems like this fight might take a while. One of them has the energy to fight for a good while, while the other can probably hold out for just as long. This will be interesting though."

Bakar nodded softly and stayed sitting straight up, rigid. He didn't like to relax. He was much more comfortable being alert. His eyes scanned the seating around the arena, looking for something, but he wasn't sure what. He just felt safer while looking. Satisfied with his scan for nothing, he returned his eyes to the arena, watching to see the progress of the fight.

Anything the other wants... well.. maybe this was a bad idea. What would I make him do? What would he make me do? The Nuit sighed. He couldn't tell who was winning or not. He was so helpless judging fights.

A walk to the Bazaar

Postby Garland on September 16th, 2014, 1:11 am

If it was up to him, he would join in on the fight, but right now he had someone to protect and show a good time.

The two fighters broke off their locked combat and started circling each other. The fighter that Baker had pointed too was wielding a large longsword, but he could tell he was good at what he does. Though he had no clue when and when not to go all out, but he did have the stamina to keep going.

The other fighter on the other hand was much older, so it meant he had more experience with his weapons, he knew the value of pacing yourself in combat, try to wear out your opponent, and get an opening through their defenses, but the fighter was older and that mean he would be weaker physically, and it will only be a matter of time before the first fighter would break through his defenses.

The young fighter charged in with his sword held behind for a large powerful swing. His steps were heavy, and slow, anyone could avoid it if they noticed.

The old man did notice but he chose not dodge, but instead block with his shield. It created an opening for him and knocked the young warrior down with his shoulder.

A walk to the Bazaar

Bakar was watching the fight with interest. His fighter seemed to never give up, while the other seemed to never waver at the first's attacks. Maybe it was because he knew that brute strength could be him in close quarters easily, but he had a lot of confidence in the young man's constant, relentlessness that battered the older fighter. Bakar was in awe of his pure endurance. Swing after swing at the poor old man, always on the move or blocking his attacks. "One hit, that's all you need. Come on." Bakar was whispering to himself, urging his fighter on.

As if the man had heard his encouragement, the young fighter charged the older one, sword held behind, arms tensed for a swing with all his strength. "This is it now. Look, the other isn't dodging, he must not see." As his fighter finally swung his sword Bakar rose from his seat, excited to see what would happen, something he had not felt for a long time. Something he didn't think he'd get from watching a fight. Are you really so excited about this? This is brutal. Those poor men. It's just the heat of the moment, let me have my fun. Well, alright then... He was quickly disappointed as the old man promptly blocked the attack, and knocked his opponent down with his shoulder.

Bakar blinked, stunned. He was so sure that his fighter, the one who swung and swung and swung would have the upper hand. Winning through pure strength and endurance. Constantly going at his opponent, where he seemingly had no chance to retaliate. He stood still, watching his fighter fall to the ground in what seemed to be slow motion. Bakar slowly took his seat, as he hit the ground, embarrassed to be getting excited at something like that, and upset that the excitement hadn't lasted longer.

Already conceding defeat, he turned to Garland, who was also watching the fight intently. Bakar could see in his eyes the excitement. But there was something else there too. What was it? Longing. He could see it now. Garland longed for a fight. The chance to hop over the wall and have an opponent of his own. He shifted uncomfortably. He's staying because of you, ya know. Yeah, I know.. He sighed and decided to speak up at the next opportunity. Garland was still watching the arena, and Bakar didn't want to disturb him at this point. He turned back to the battle, which was surely over.

A walk to the Bazaar

Postby Garland on September 16th, 2014, 6:23 am

When Baker rose from his chair and cheered for his fighter, it had surprised Garland to say the least, though it was a nice surprise, to see him happy was great. It felt good for the squire to see someone that had such a tragic life to smile and seem excited about something.

The fight seemed to be in the old man's favor, but Garland gave a small smile. It was never over until, the enemy surrenders or if you have your blade agaisnt his throat. Baker was having a good time, but when he saw his fighter get knocked down, he was sure that he lost.

"Don't be so sure that you've lost, Baker. Look." Garland pointed to the fight, the old man was about to point his blade against the young fighter's neck, but the boy quickly rolled out of the way. "Never think that just because you're at a disadvange doesn't mean you've lost. Let's see what they do next."

The younger of the two quickly got up from the ground and rushed in, this time he was more focused on himself than his opponent, he made sure he had a way to step back and recover from a misstep or if the old man did something different that he wasn't expecting. The young fighter swung low, trying to trip up the old man.

The old man bent down instead of jump and blocked it with his shield, pushing it back and then attacking with his own sword.

The young fighter stepped back to avoid the attack, feeling quite proud of himself for dodging, he gave a smirk and taunted the old man.

"It may look like he's just being a cocky idiot, but even if he doesn't know it, he's taunting the old man to take the fight over to him, where it would be on his own grounds instead of the old fighter's." Garland pointed out. He wanted to join in, but after this they were going to the library.

A walk to the Bazaar

Bakar looked back at the fight just to see his fighter roll from his opponent's blade. He rose to his feet and took at stance. He was shocked. He was sure that that was the end of the fight. He would have given up there. Shows how much you know about fighting, eh? Yeah.. Well, seems you've got a bit to learn.

"Never think that just because you're at a disadvantage doesn't mean you've lost.'

He remembered those words well. He chosen his fighter because he thought he was winning, and when it seemed he wasn't, he was certain it was over. Garland had shown him that just because things were going well for someone, doesn't mean they would end well. His fighter had started off with what Bakar had considered an advantage, and was sure would win. The old man quickly turned that around on his young opponent and Bakar's opinion changed to a sure loss.

When the fighter rose from the ground, Bakar wasn't sure what to think anymore. He looked to be taking a different stance, keeping a little further away from the old man, seemingly understanding that brute force wouldn't win him this one. His fighter was aiming low now, but his opponent blocked the attack, and swung back with his own sword. At this point, the young man dodged, and smirked at the old man, taunting him.

"It may look like he's just being a cocky idiot, but even if he doesn't know it, he's taunting the old man to take the fight over to him, where it would be on his own grounds instead of the old fighter's."

Bakar nodded, taking this second piece of advice to heart. These would surely come to some use in these dark times. Just because he hasn't needed them yet, doesn't mean he never will. It's easier to fight someone on your grounds than their's. Losing doesn't mean lost. Don't give up, just because things look bleak. There's almost always a way out of a bad situation. These are some of the lessons that Bakar had learned, just from the day he had spent with Garland.

He smiled and shook his head, bemused this time. The first time in a long time. He wouldn't even be upset if he lost the bet at this point, the lessons learned were well worth what the Squire would make him do. Of course, a win was always nice. He still wasn't sure what he'd even make the young man do, if he won. He leaned back and relaxed, allowing himself a moment of weakness while with the young man.

A walk to the Bazaar

Postby Garland on September 17th, 2014, 11:45 am

The old man took the bait and rushed the boy, his attacks weren't as ferocious as the young fighter's but he's was more precise. He was aiming for weak points that could have ended the fight then and there.

Hitting the leg or the arms will incapacitate the young fighter's proper usage of his weapons and eventually unarm him to end the fight.

Garland saw the Nuit relax and he did the same, now was the time to relax, he can worry about stuff later... and eventually forget about them, but that's another topic for another time.

The fighters were locked in a back and forth struggle on who can overpower each other. The older man was pushing for low attacks and quick blows, while the other fighter was using slow but heavy blows, both of them were blocking and dodging each other's attacks, until finally, the old man decided to use more than his sword and shield. He sweep kicked the boy's legs and tripped him over, he pointed his blade and then the crowd cheered for the victory.

"Well, looks like I won."

Bakar watched as the old man started his assault on the young man. His style was more controlled though. Instead of swinging widely, trying to just smash the poor man, he swung with meaning, aiming for the extremities. If he lost use of his arm, he wouldn't be able to continue fighting, and therefore would lose. If he lost the use of his leg, he wouldn't be able to move and would have a hard time wielding his weapon properly, and therefore would eventually lose.

They fought for a while, trading attacks. The old man was quick, while the young man was slow, but heavy. Neither seemed to be gaining any ground, each blocking or dodging the other's attacks. But just as Bakar thought this, the old man swept his opponent off his feet with a well timed kick, and the boy was knocked down again. The old fighter wasted no time in placing his blade against his throat. The crowd erupted in cheer, and the fight was over. Even Bakar clapped for the fighter, for he had given him more entertainment than he had had in years.

[i[Well, looks like I won."[/i]

Bakar nodded and bowed before Garland. "Yes, my friend. It seems you have. I have learned much today though, and for that, I thank you. What did you have in mind for the terms of our arrangement?" Bakar shifted nervously as he rose from his bow. Surely it won't be anything too horrible. Garland seems like a reasonable man.

Garland smiled to his Nuit friend. "Let's go to the library. I'll tell you the bet after when we get to the library." He got up from his seat and stretched his muscles.

The arena was preparing for another fight, new fighters were placed in the ring while the old fighters were escorted out of the arena while the others were escorted in.

If he had the time he would come back later today, but as a squire he never has any time anymore.

He waited for his friend to follow him, he needed to learn a few things, somethings a knight must need to know, he needed to go to the library for that, now is the perfect time to do it, since now he has an excuse to go to the library.
