Maia laughed as Saede jumped from the iguana
"I don't think iguanas can be poisonous... Iv read they are quite lazy creatures as well..."
The iguana grew board of watching Saede and walked back along Maia's arm to the top of his head where the iguana laid down. When Maia pet the iguana it closed its eyes, seeming to enjoy it.
"He's not quite welcome at the bar... Apparently he caused a little trouble while I was asleep yesterday. Not that he did anything wrong... Just the site of a large reptile walking on the bar scares some people..."
He saw Saede was a little uneasy about the iguana.
"Come on, there's nothing to be afraid of. Here why don't you pet him... I promise he won't bite."
Maia lifted the lizard off his head and set it on his extended arm, close enough for Saede to touch it. The iguana poked up its head and slowly looked around before laying it back down, keeping one sleepy eye on Saede.

A place to rest

Postby Saede Lare on September 29th, 2014, 7:39 pm

Now that she looked back at the iguana, it really didn't seem all that harmful. Although, looks can be deceiving. Saede considered petting it with a glove on, or bringing it to somebody that actually knew what it was. She cringed to herself as she realized that she didn't actually know anybody here that could tell them about the lizard. Until she knew more about it, she wasn't looking forward to petting him.

"Maia, I really don't know if it's safe or not. Maybe if we took it to somebody that did, we could know for sure if it's safe. Then I might be more.. persuaded to pet him."
He did seem quite lazy, as Maia had said. But then how did he cause such a problem at the inn? Watching the lizard set her a bit on alert. She knew that if she found a lizard under her table, she wouldn't exactly be thrilled either. The lizard slowly closed his eyes, but she could tell it was still watching her. Very aware of what she was doing. She stuck to her opinion, this lizard could be dangerous. She wouldn't touch it until Maia had somehow convinced her that it was not going to hurt her in any way. Even though what she was doing may seem silly, she'd rather be safe than humor him. She raised her sandwich, taking a bite of it and thought, I wonder if his iguana would eat this. Or if he'd just go for my hand. The combination of vegetables may be exactly what lizards eat. Or did they eat meat? Or flies? She hoped he would retract his arm soon. The lizard was at jumping distance. Wasn't it common for animals to sneak up on their prey one way or another and then kill them when they least expect it? I'm paranoid. She reaized. But that wasn't going to make her touch some lizard. Not now, anyways.

A place to rest

Maia drew back his arm
"Suit yourself."
The iguana crawled down his sleeve and into his coat, compleatly unnoticeable if you didn't already know it was there.
"I've been thinking of getting out for a while. Just stayin out in the wilderness a few days and roughing it you know. I wouldn't wanna go alone though, it's no fun without a group"
Maia leaned up against a wall and watched a few people walk by.
"Thing is I don't really know anyone around here but you."

Saede watched the lizard as it retreated into Maia's coat. I hope it stays there. She thought.
"I've been thinking of getting out for a while. Just stayin' out in the wilderness a few days and roughing it, you know? I wouldn't wanna go alone though, it's no fun without a group"
A group of people walked by, giving Saede time to think about the question. So far Maia seemed a nice fellow, but she really knew nothing about him. She remembered that when she asked, he said that his past was "taken from him". She hadn't pressed further, and she wasn't going to. Camping sounded a fun idea, and even though she'd spent a considerable amount of time getting here, she wouldn't mind going out for a few days with a friend or two. The more the merrier, really.
"Sure!" She responded after the people had passed. She didn't think Maia a dangerous person, and this way she wouldn't have to pay for a room at the inn. A few days out in the wilds could be a great idea. Maybe even better if they found some others to come along too. She decided she'd tell him so.
"I like the idea of going out for a few days. When'll we set off?" She replied enthusiastically.
"Maybe we could bring a few people or something. I'm sure more than a few people will be eager to escape the crowds after the attack."
The thought of bringing more people satisfied her, as she was quite an extrovert. A place alone with them meant that she'll probably be able to learn more about them than if it were a big crowd.

She pondered locations to go, she couldn't think of many places besides almost directly outside of Syliras. She hoped Maia had something planned, or that they could ask somebody for advice.

Maia's face lit up when Saede agreed to go
"Hmm... I need a little time to get some things together... But other than that any time, I guess two days from now that fits into your plans?"
Maia ran through all the preparation he would need to go through in his head, already exited for the trip.
"How long do you think we should stay?, I have no deadline. Do you know a few people who could come as well? That would be great"
Maia's talking turned into inaudible rambling to himself.

A place to rest

Bakar sat at listened to the two at the bar for a while. He didn't gleam much information. He like the crowd, it gave him background noise to cram his head, so he wouldn't have to deal with his own thoughts, but even at times it can be a little much. He sighed to himself, until he saw Saede and Maia suddenly in front of him, walking through the crowd. He quickly ducked his head and tried to act non-suspicious. It more than likely made him look more suspicious, as a couple of his table mates gave him some funny looks.

He apologized and excused himself from the table, attempting to follow the two. He lost sight of them however, and shook his head. "Well, that's unfortunate." He whispered to himself, before setting off back to a table. But out of the corner of his eye, he saw some strange movement. It was Saede, and she was backing away from Maia. "Is he making her uncomfortable? Is he harassing her? ...Should I do something?" He said to himself, watching the two. Maia was holding out his hand, but Bakar couldn't see what was there. Saede didn't seem to like it though, backing away more.

Eventually, he retracted his hand, and Saede looked to have calmed a little. He could hear them better in this area, but he was also more open, and likely to be seen. He around the edge of the turn into the hallway. He was less likely to be seen here, and could hear glimpses of the conversation. Something about camping? Were they leaving together? "Well, there goes your new entertainment for a few days at least." He sighed to himself again, and left the two alone, beginning to worry he'd be seen at the corner. His usual corner table was now unoccupied, and he proceeded towards it, sitting in the familiar seat, he hung his head and listened to the din of the inn.

OOCSorry! I was off visiting my girlfriend in her dorm this weekend, and ended up getting locked in Sunday night. :P
Didn't bring my laptop there, so wasn't really able to post. I was keeping up with the reading on my phone though!
As of Summer, 63, 515, Bakar has a different body! If never met you before, then this doesn't really matter to you, but people I've met should take this into account, as you're really unlikely to recognize me. :P

A place to rest

Postby Saede Lare on September 30th, 2014, 8:25 pm

Now that the lizard was gone, she relaxed. She tried to think of things she had planned and came up with only one.
"I'm afraid I don't quite know anybody to bring- yet. I'm sure I'll find somebody who would want to go. But I do have a bit of a deadline, I can't miss work now that I have it. I'm a mercenary, and I've got a job on the tenth."
Saede was altogether a bit excited, both from getting her new job as well as leaving for a trip into the wilderness. Initially, this is why she invited Maia out to chat. Her mind raced when she thought of all the things she would need. She knew all the basics, but not much more. Maybe she'd learn a bit more about that on her trip? Although, if Maia intended to kill or steal from her, a one on one camping trip would be just the place to do it. Even though she mostly trusted Maia, she was better off getting somebody else to go, just in case.
"Tell ya what, I'll start looking right now." She stepped back into The Herald's Arms, searching the room for somebody to invite. Finishing off her sandwich, she noticed the 'spy' she thought she saw when she first got here. Surely if he was truly a spy he would have busted her by now, so she mentally decided he wasn't a going to do her any harm. He seemed mostly ignored by well, everyone. Sitting alone at the back table.. It would be kind of lonely, no? She decided that she wouldn't want to be in his position so she'd go over and at least find out why he was all alone. She made her way through the thinning crowd as most of the people had gone to the open third floor. Her armor made a light clinking sound as she approached. Hoping he wasn't alone for being mean or a sorcerer or some sort she walked up to the pale man. She smiled at him, and said;
"Hey, mind if I sit here?"

Maia trailed behind Saede as she looked for people to invite. He saw her heading for a man at the back table sitting alone. Maia had seen the man in the inn a few times before and from what he saw the man didn't really talk to anyone. As she asked to sit with him Maia leaned against the wall next to her waiting for his response.
