Goneszh honors Makutsi and is rewarded with a visitation

This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

Dances With Ghosts (Shalita)

It was a difficult feeling to describe to someone who's never been possessed. The rush of numbness stemming from the icy cold of a ghost's touch. The first time Shalita/Javeya moved through him, Goneszh shuddered, despite his attempt to restrain it. Shalita did not seem to notice though. But Goneszh could actually feel the flash of disappointment cross through her soul.

He felt a stab of embarrassment that he'd neglected to tell her she needed to approach from the same forward-facing alignment as him. Of course, a ghost could back into a receptive body, if it chose. But that was usually done almost as a gag. Often ghosts would possess you while you slept, lying down to mirror your position as you slept, aligning and infusing, to intercept the nerve impulses.

The main thing was that she was thinking in terms of possessing the entire body at once. This nearly always required a willing host, since frantic body movement was the fundamental method of preventing possession. The problem with it was that it was difficult to keep your feet moving. The experienced possessor targeted the feet first, if a body was trying to resist, and knew to keep moving.

Once aligning with the feet, control was lost. and it became harder and harder to stay in sufficient motion to stymie the flow of alignment up the legs. And a ghost could be patient, waiting for the host to exhaust themselves and give in. That exhaustion then compounding the degree of takeover by panicking the mind into a disoriented and unfocused state.

Goneszh's mother had always stressed that a Spiritist's control over possession was empowered by their ability to surrender smoothly and quickly. She said a Spiritist's ability to reject a ghost was like someone trying to securely close a door when there was no jamb for it to lock into. The ghost would slip right through, unable to catch, and be bumped right back out the other side. A Spiritist's body was effectively "greased" with it's developed capability to generate soulmist. She claimed the body's years of transmuting the base substances into a gel capable of sustaining the essence of a ghost's embodiment made for a resisting "body" of its own. It was as if a Spiritist's body already had a ghost within it, shoving any other ghost on through and out.

OR...it could welcome the newcomer and embrace it. Then there was no need to "capture" the body, bit by bit. AND this soulmist infusion gave a unique symbiotic affinity for the presence and habitation by a ghost, giving a link, both mental and physical. Of course, like most Spiritist's abilities, they took experience and repetition to develop effectiveness. And while this could be said of virtually any skill, there was a difference.

She'd described this difference by comparing how even the most novice swordsman would still hack a chunk of bark from a tree on his first hit. But a first-time Spiritist would NOT be able to resist possession. Not at all. Not even a little. Nor could he craft soulmist, even if he had his family's secret, generations-old recipe. She insisted that it was more in the conditioning of the body to build the ability to develop the skill first, before learning to develop it.

Goneszh had conditioned his body with literally hundreds of possessions by the spirits of Eloab in Eyktol. Of course, he'd had his powerful Spiritist mother watching over these episodes in case some malicious spirit tried to exploit her son's initial weakness. There was a residue that remained from each one, different for each ghost, like a fingerprint. The more variety of these "fingerprints" that a spiritist amassed, the more variety of potential connections he developed. And the more layers of each amassed print he collected, the stronger each connection became.

These different spectrums of existence were made up of elements shared by ghosts throughout the world. individuality was nothing more than the combinations. So every ghost gave you a random mix of these elements to add to your growing affinity for connection to spirits.

And now, Goneszh could feel the elements mesh as numbness spread quickly with Shalita/Javeya's pattern of connections. There was just a hint of surprise that flowed in from her. It felt as if this truly was her first possession. A disappointment followed which he suspected was from her hope that she'd share his sense of touch. He held still and let his memories focus on a ghost partner he'd shared a number of possessions with years ago.

He knew she would get flashes of impressions from him. He tried to channel his own thoughts to follow the development of his affinity with this other ghost, a young Benshiran boy. After a dozen or more possessions, the boy was starting to be able to "feel" through Goneszh' senses. Goneszh wanted "Javeya" to know that she too, would get to where she could "feel" again.

She sighed softly as she stretched out a hand, watching the rain fall down upon it. Well at least it wasn’t simply falling through it, she thought to herself before she began to receive flashes. She saw a young boy, a boy that was a ghost and she angled their head slightly to the right as she focused upon these flashes. These must be that memory sharing thing that Goneszh had spoken about and a frown creased her forehead as she payed attention to the flashes. She had to possess someone multiple times before she could even begin to feel something? A sigh fell upon her lips before she glanced towards the main gates of the Traveler’s Complex, how many times would Goneszh actually let her possess him? Or would she have to possess other people? She had found it weird to possess the male, so to speak. While she lacked a sense of touch, she could build up towards it, make it a goal to reach. For she desperately wanted to feel the sun upon her skin again, she wanted to sail the seas, experience adventures. Suddenly, the life of being a ghost wasn’t so bad, so long as she did as he said. Practice her skills. It was at this point that she remembered that she would help this male with his work.

Javeya would then remember that she had seen a ghost around Kenash, other than the ones that were at the Blacksugar Distillery. Biting down upon her bottom lip, she would attempt to channel her own thoughts to his, much like how he had done. The memory flash was of a clean two-story white building that looked particularly homey. She didn’t want to linger upon the memory of the building, for the ghost had begun to take notes of the buildings that she had drifted by with details, so she moved on to a different memory flash. It was a figure of a translucent woman with dark hair, she had appeared to be aloof and arrogant as were much older ghosts, or so Javeya had found out. She also appeared to be in her thirties, but with ghosts, appearances were deceiving. A middle-aged man was also standing with the ghost and he had given her the creeps, he was creepy in a way that she didn’t know how to describe. Both the building and the man gave her an uneasy feeling which made sure that she didn’t linger for too long upon that particular street. ”Dry island plaza,” She said aloud and blinked as her voice sounded much like Goneszh’s voice.

The rain began to lighten and she briefly wondered about as to whether she could swim, he said that she would feel the memories of talents that she didn’t think that she would ever have again. So she wanted to see as to whether she could swim again. Turning upon her heels and almost stumbling from the sudden movement of using actual feet, she began to jog through the gates towards Glass Beach, feeling her feet hit the cobblestone underneath her as she ran. She wasn’t sure how long this possession thing would allow her to stay inside this body until she tired, but she really wanted to swim. While she wouldn’t be able to feel the sensation of being wet, at least she would feel the waves and the water as it pressed in around her. For now, that’s all that mattered, for she wanted to be able to hope and this man, had given her hope, more than he ever knew. Well, she wasn’t exactly sure as to whether he knew but, she was more focused upon her own steps as she quickly ran towards the Glass Beach. Upon reaching the glass beach which was famous for the round bits of glass found on its shores, she paused only long enough to tug off the boots before dashing off into the waves.

Dances With Ghosts (Shalita)

At the same moment that Goneszh got an instant of imagery involving a white building, nestled in a few trees, there was a flash of two faces apparently connected to it. A conservatively dressed, but still sophisticated looking man of middle age, and an unsmiling woman of detached demeanor. There was also a sense that the sight of these two did not bring comfort to his possessing spirit.

Experience told him that these were likely the local Spiritist and his ghostly minion, and the building where they conducted business, or the paperwork aspect of it at least. He found himself speaking the words "Dry Island Plaza", and guessed that this was where the pair was located. When he got himself set as a free citizen, he would search these two out and see whether they would be partners or rivals. He needed a job, and the city ordinance gave him thirty days to achieve this.

Every indication was that he could choose to either start his own business or hire on with an existing Spiritist. This would be the goal he would pursue first, once he got his connection with Javeya more firmly established. She was clearly reveling in her sudden vigor from the soulmist he'd given her. It suddenly gained a focus of its own, and Goneszh had to make an effort to keep her from dislodging herself from him in her haste to reach the beach. His smile matched hers with the realization that she wanted to go swimming.

She could very easily have run right out of him with the way she burst into as much of a run as she was able to force him into. Naturally, he did not resist, but it was still difficult to curb her enthusiasm. He began to get more images from her as her eagerness to reach the beach began to be backed up by images of a childhood spent near docks and piers. He had spent time in Zeltiva with his mother decades ago, but they had not tarried long. There were many buildings in Shalita's recollection that did not match the street plan he recalled. He assumed that the span of years, and the penchant for construction that human cultures thrived on, accounted for the subtle differences between his memory and hers.

They reached the beach, stopping only to remove his boots. He thought of ejecting her from her hold on him long enough to strip down to his small clothes, but was caught up in her joy enough to refrain from interrupting it. It was not as though he, as an Iyvess Dhani, had any issue with getting wet. He took a deep breath, with her prompt, and they dove in and started stroking through the waves. He wanted to look at the ongoing bed of glass beads comprising the shore, but she was concentrating on her breathing, and keeping her head above the surface.

It was somewhat odd that even as a transformed sea snake, he was not really an accomplished swimmer. He loved swimming, certainly, but he did not usually swim in human form, but he knew enough to go with her movements. And much of the trouble inexperienced swimmers have is panicking. He was absolutely calm, the only increase of pulse and breathing being due to Shalita's joyous exertion. She could swim, and he did not hold her back as they split the surface for an hundred yards straight out, the impending exhaustion of possession forgotten in their shared revelry.

Dances With Ghosts (Shalita)

While she couldn’t exactly feel the wetness of the water as her arms sliced forwards through the salty water, she could still feel the weight of the body of water pressing all-around her. The feel of the water as it pushed her form one way because of a wave, or as it pushed her head underneath the salty water for even a moment, was thrilling. It got the adrenaline pushing and rushing through the blood stream and it caused her to get lost in the thrill of actually swimming again. No matter how bad she was at swimming, at least her head was kept above the water most of the time and she was basically froggy swimming. Her legs kicked out behind her as her hands in front of her pushed forwards and she gasped in air every time that she kicked. At this point she hadn’t exactly cared about whether she was beginning to tire, mostly because she could swim again, that she could feel the weight of the body of water pressing in around her. She stopped long enough in her swimming to catch a breath, paddling upon the spot as she drew in long deep breaths, as she stared straight out at the open sea.

Slowly, she would turn around to view the shore which was now about one hundred yards away and she couldn’t help but blink. Javeya hadn’t honestly expected that she would have swam that far, being as it had been a while since she had swam in the sea for quite some time before she had been… Before she had been captured. She drew in more breaths that quickly left her lungs as she exhaled. The feel of the lungs working to expand, to accommodate the rush of air as it drew it in, only to expel it quickly, gave her a sense of calm. A sense of serenity that one day, to feel once more would be possible, that it was once again within her reach and that she could do something to work towards that goal. She felt the clothes that they were wearing begin to pull downwards with the weight of the water that they had greedily soaked up and she sighed as she decided that maybe it was best to head back to shore, even though she didn’t really want to. Drawing in another breath she lingered where she was for a moment as she thought about just how nice it was to view the city of Kenash from this far out.

However, just as she was about to begin swimming back the way she had come, the sudden tiredness crashed over her and she felt her hold upon his form weaken before she could no longer control his body. Her being floated out of him and a cry of alarm fell upon her lips as she found herself floating above him, her hand stretched out towards him. ”No wait!” She was struck with a sudden fear that the spiritist or Goneszh as he had said that he was named, could not swim and she was worried that she had suddenly sentenced him to die of some horrible death in the ocean. While she loved the ocean and its beauty, she was also aware of the fact that people could drown, especially seeing as some people didn’t know how to swim. She had learned to swim, because she loved the ocean and her father, whenever he hadn’t been off sailing the Suvan Sea, had taught her to swim. Javeya, was very much uncertain as to whether Goneszh could swim or not and although she felt very tired, she was alarmed that he may or may not be able to swim.

Dances With Ghosts (Shalita)

Postby Viszragoneszh on September 28th, 2014, 9:06 pm

He had been aware of Shalita's growing stress in maintaining her hold on him. It had not worried him in the least. Not only did he know he could eject her at any time, he also knew he would not drown. But at the moment where her possession could no longer remain strong enough, even with his complete consent, he got a flash of alarm from her. He had not gotten enough of an impression to know exactly what it was that was alarming her.

Then it suddenly dawned on him that his near immunity to drowning was going to be difficult to account for. This presented a problem. He was not sure that he wanted her to know so soon that he was not a human. He had not gotten nearly enough impressions from her life's memories to know how she might feel about that. All he really knew so far was that she'd had a childhood in Zeltiva. And even that was only because he recognized some of the flashes of familiar cityscape.

Obviously she loved to swim, and this did nothing to counter the impression of a Zeltivan childhood. It also seemed that there was a boy...That was it though, there was a boy... That hardly offered any conclusion about anything. He wondered if her alarm was from a memory of this boy drowning. Now she would see that HE was no swimmer, and be unable to help him. He wanted to shift into his snake form, but this could not be done right in front of her.

As her presence slipped from him, he knew he was going to be nearly spent, and drew as deep a breath as he could. There were two different things he'd have liked to do simultaneously. But they excluded each other. One, was to sink far enough to begin his shift to snake form. He would hold his breath and be far enough into the murky depths that most of the transformation would be unseen by her. But the other thing he'd have liked to do was drift a bubble of djed to set a hypnotic calm into her mind regarding his welfare. But the depth of water between them would make that very difficult, guesswork at best. Plus, his exhaustion made it difficult to collect sufficient mental focus.

He felt a genuine pang of regret in letting her feel this anxiety, but resolved to explain at the first opportunity. He felt it would be better received if she only saw him as human one chime, and a full snake the next, rather than witnessing the transformation. He knew from personal experience that the inhuman nature of the shift was often enough to set hostility into motion. Whereas the realization later, of a shift that was NOT observed, was more readily accepted. THEN, witnessing the transformation became almost an appealing mystery, and not some freakish and shocking "mutation".

With great guilt over the anxiety he felt she was likely to suffer, he let himself sink. If she made any cries of alarm or despair, the water immediately filling his ears muffled them. As he sank, he kicked out of his clothes, giving them a nudge toward the surface. Then he felt the shift beginning, his legs joining into a single stem and gaining length. His hands involuntarily pulling down alongside his torso and melding with it. He knew this would have ended any attempt to have plugged his ears against the muffling water. His head flattened and joined to stretch down to form a much longer spinal column. Inner changes were felt with the shifting of the shape and positioning of organs.

The more prominent feeling of alteration was connected with a sudden intake of oxygen, allowed by the reformed organs in his skin, which gave him enough of a trickle to allow for a good three bell submerge. He let a chime or two pass, as he collected a bit of vigor, and returned to raise his head above the surface and see what 'Javeya' was doing.

Javeya was generally afraid for the life of her new friend, the one that had seen her worthy to help her, other than her friend Nick of course. Gonezsh had in the very short couple of bells that she had known him, spoken to her as if she was just a normal being and explained a few things to her that no one else had told her. In fact, he had been the only person willing to talk to her, the only stranger that was, as she knew Nick from her past human life. She didn’t want to have been the murderer, to have unintentionally killed someone that had been willing to help her. Her deep blue eyes watched as he sank underneath the surface and her form floated above the surface. Had she..? Did she..? She shook her head as she looked on feeling just as weak as she had when her own life had been taken. She was tired and death seemed to be all that happened to her and to those that offered to help her. It was as if she was cursed… Cursed with death and everywhere she went and the new people that she would meet, would die. Seeing as Goneszh hadn’t even resurfaced, she was very certain that he was dead. She had killed someone by accident, because she had been so caught up in the actuality that she may be able to feel once more.

Slowly, her black hair begun to grey before it turned to white, her deep blue eyes also lightened until they were an ice blue. Her blue sundress lengthened until the hem brushed at her bare feet, the material lightening in colour much like her eyes until it too was nothing but white. Then, a red stain started at her lower stomach and the stain spread down her white dress until it reached the hem where it stopped. Her head angled downwards as she looked at the surface of the ocean, the water gently swaying from one side to the other and ripples formed as the waves rolled passed. She loved the ocean, it was beautiful the way that the rain continued to fall, for it caused its own small ripples. However, in beauty, there was death as well. The beauty of the male, paired with her ignorance of the race itself led to her death. Now… Now it seemed that the beauty of the ocean had led her new found friend to his own death, all because she wanted to swim again, to feel the familiar pressure of the water pressing in around her. Indeed, she did feel responsible for this, if only she had stopped for a brief moment to ponder as to whether he could swim. She had just… She had just been so excited at the new possibilities that had been opened to her.

She closed her eyes and she bowed her head, a mourning expression crossed her facial features. The ghost seemed to begin to question everything that she was about, why she was here, why she had struggled to stay alive even when death was inevitable. Now she was living as a ghost, something even she barely knew how to be and it was a struggle to not find fault within herself in this form. A sigh fell across her lips as her fingers gripped the white dress. Why did she stay? Why was she even still here? Her soul mist slowly begun to get chaotic around her as anger boiled within her. Why did death shadow every one of her footsteps? Was everyone that she was going to encounter or have already encountered, going to die because she had been cursed with death?

Dances With Ghosts (Shalita)

Postby Viszragoneszh on October 3rd, 2014, 5:17 am

Goneszh looked toward the beach and was shocked to see Shalita's visage change into a ghastly victim of horrible mutilation. it looked as if the entire lower end of her torso had been torn open, her coloring fading to white except where it was icy blue.

He went to shout her name, but all that came out was a hiss.
'Stupid!' He cursed himself. He darted through the surface waters like a spear ready to impale the sand. It sent a dreadful anxiety through his soul to consider his own words, so cavalier, about ghosts being able to release themselves to Lhex whenever they wanted.

His concern over shocking her with his transformation may well have triggered her decision to do that very thing. The image she displayed now showed very clearly how horrible her life's end must have been. Had it been some wild animal? A Symenstra harvest? Some horrible impaling accident? Some ritualistic act by some blood cult? He needed to reach the shore and let her know that he still lived.

He hit the sand and was slowed to some degree, but still caught up to her. He made wide zig zags in front if her, receding as he went, to stay in front of her. If she noticed, she gave no sign. He bobbed exaggeratedly trying to be entertaining, if nothing else. The only result that even might have been due to him was her turning her gaze away.
'Idiot! She's a ghost. she's not going to pay attention to a snake. She wouldn't have any reason to care.' he told himself.

He gave a moment's thought to trying hypnosis to implant a belief in his safety, but slow as she moved, it was still too fast for his novice level talent to keep up with. The same with his Projection. He needed to get way ahead of her and prepare either a hypnotic tweak or a projected tap on the shoulder.

Then it dawned on him that she was not materialized. There could be no "tap" on her insubstantial shoulder. He started thinking of what he could impress upon her to cheer her up. In her obviously gloomy mood, she may well shake off any cheer he could generate without even noticing it. It needed to be accompanied by some gesture to pique her associative memory.

He cursed the glass bead beach now. So beautiful, but so useless to spell out a word. This would have been the next option, but no tracking through the beads would leave any decipherable letters. He looked back at her, feeling a pang of sympathy for her suffering.
'Gods! Hold on, Javeya. I'll come up with something. If only I had some more soul mist!'

Then something caught his eye. One of the glass beads, not far away, had the same whitish semi-opaque translucence that his soul mist had. He raced ahead and grabbed it in his teeth, and rose up before her, waving back and forth. He forced inner pressure to let slip a bubble of djed to rise to the level of her head, concentrating on the sense of happy surprise to receive a "treat". He tried to make himself smile, but with his repitlian mouth, that was a useless exercise. So instead he nodded his head, keeping his focus on orienting the djed bubble with the idea of a happy treat.

Dances With Ghosts (Shalita)

Javeya drifted, just simply drifted as she often found herself doing when she had slipped into her ghostly appearance. Although, she drifted back toward Kenash, where she would probably find herself heading back to the Blacksugar Distillery and spend a few days there just… Doing nothing. It was what she was best at doing ever since she had died, seeing as when she interacted with living people, it only scared them. She didn’t even keep pets, mostly because her very presence sent them running. Goneszh’s words rang within her mind, that ghosts could leave this existence behind, just fade out and start a new existence. However, her promise to Nick to stay alive as best as she could in this realm also rang within her mind. She couldn’t leave… It was why she had stayed when she had been wavering in the first place, because Nickolai had asked her to stay, to live in this realm the best that she could. Her shoulders drooped as she continued to drift. Goneszh had also said that why be sad when she could move on, start a new life, leave all of these painful memories behind. No... No she couldn’t think like that, she owed it to Nick to keep her promise to him, even if it did hurt to remain.

She saw something, but she turned her gaze away the moment that she realised that she was now located upon the glass beach and she slowly turned to view the ocean once more. She wanted to cry out, to scream, but the last time that she had done that, was just before she had died and it hadn’t done anything to help save herself. She felt tired, a lot more tired than she normally was, something she hadn’t felt since she was alive and she had a feeling it was because of the simple fact that she had exhausted herself while possessing Goneszh. The one man that she hadn’t wanted to send to his death bed at the ocean, the one man that had been kind to her. She turned back towards Kenash and began to slowly move once again, as she sighed softly. She just… Her mind spun around and around in circles, even though she knew that she had to hold on, for Nickolai’s sake, it just spun in circles. Around and around and around again. It was endless to say in the least, but she just could not help it.

Finally she spotted something that looked like soul mist and she stopped when she spotted the snake holding this soul mist look-a-like in its mouth. She blinked, as the snake rose up in front of her and she couldn’t help but think of that as odd. Snakes were… Well, from her knowledge dangerous… To a living being of course seeing as their venom could kill, she was dead so she didn’t think that she had to worry about a snake bite, especially seeing as she was too tired to materialize. The snake continued to wave this soul mist look-a-like back and forth in front of her and her icy blue gaze just couldn’t help but follow the path. Was it soul mist? Or was it just a stone? Or was the snake just taunting her and this was some figment of her imagination? Was she just finally going crazy? Suddenly, she had a happy feeling explode inside of her being as she realized that it looked like a treat, a treat that Goneszh had previously given to her. She reached out, only for her fingers to pass through both the snake and the rock that look like a treat and a sigh fell across her lips.

Her gaze drifted back out to sea, no she had seen him drown, it couldn’t the trea... That thought drowned off as she frowned and looked back to the snake, only Goneszh knew about the treat that they had shared, so why was the snake holding something that looked like a treat? Finally her eyes widened and she shook her head, soft whispered words finally parted her lips. ”Goneszh? Goneszh is that you controlling the snake? Or are you… Are you… Did I really kill you and you possessed this snake?” She honestly felt stupid talking to a snake although she wasn’t really sure as to whether he was possessing the snake. Could it be possible that she had accidentally killed him and he had come back as a ghost only to possess this snake? Wouldn’t it be easier to just simply talk to her in a ghost form? She closed her eyes, no he couldn’t be possessing this snake, but maybe… She cast her gaze down the length of the beach as she began to wonder if he was alive and somehow controlling the snake to send her a message to help him.

Dances With Ghosts (Shalita)

Postby Viszragoneszh on October 8th, 2014, 5:48 am

Goneszh would have jumped and pumped his fist when Shalita finally took notice of his antics, if he were not a snake. But all was not solved yet. Even as she said his name, he nodded his reptilian head, only to stop and shake it no when her question turned to the suggestion that he was "controlling" the snake.

Then when she started with the words
"Are you..." he thought she was realizing he WAS the snake, so he started nodding his head again. And again, he was bamboozled by her misunderstanding in thinking he was dead, and possessing the snake. He shook his head a little more anxiously and looked around for another way to communicate.

His minimal ability in hypnotism only allowed for basic concepts, and was not really a conversational ability. He still did not want to simply undergo a shift here in the open, but he needed her to stay with him. There were people about, though they were mostly staying away due to Shalita's ghostly presence. But he didn't want to take any chance that someone might spy him out as he shifted.

He decided he could perform one more hypnotic touch that might work, and as he built a pressure to release, in the form of a bubble of mentally-oriented djed, he focused on the thought of waiting patiently for an answer to a question. He had to push harder in this form to reach it to her head, but managed to accomplish it, just as his own head started to hurt from the effort.

Then he started slithering around, grabbing more the white glass beads and gathering them in a small heap. Then he started taking them, one by one, and laying them out to form the letter "D". he followed this with an "H", an "A", an "N" and an "I". Then he pulled back and pointed the end of his tail, first at the word spelled among the colored glass, then at himself.

He hoped she knew what a Dhani was. If not he would have to spell out something more explicit, and that meant a greater number of words. His mouth already tasted like a tide pool, and he wanted to spit the grit out. As soon as she responded, with either understanding or continued perplexity, he would spread the white rocks out to obliterate the word. No sense in leaving any clues around.

He also decided that swimming out and retrieving his clothes might be helpful. He figured she would be able to reason that, if he'd truly drowned, he wouldn't have been bothering with getting out of his clothes. It might not get her to make the full connection, but she would surely conclude that there was more to tell.

Dances With Ghosts (Shalita)

She had paid close attention to when the snake seemed to nod its head before shaking it. She had noted that whenever it shook or nodded, it was just after she had ask something. It had nodded its head when she had asked if it was Goneszh, but the snake shook its head to her other two questions. So the snake was somehow Goneszh, but he wasn’t controlling it nor was it possessing it. How could the snake be Goneszh but not be controlling or possessing the snake? A frown creased her forehead as she tried to work it out, frustration clear within the ghost. Was the snake just fooling around trying to confuse her? To make her feel even more guilty? Honestly, it felt as if it was mocking her, trying to make her out to be some kind of dumb ghost because she had accidentally killed Goneszh. A small voice inside of her head softly questioned that line of thinking however, ‘what if the snake really was Goneszh and he was trying to tell her that he wasn’t dead?’ She shook her head, no, she had seen him go under and he hadn’t even come back up.

The snake began to do something and her icy blue gaze watched it move around the glass beach, creating a pile of the pebbled glass, only to begin to start doing something with them, moving the pebbles from one pile to line them out. Well, it had started out as a line, but then it looked like a big ‘D.’ Was the snake going to spell something out for her? She frowned as she silently hovered close by, her icy blue gaze watching the snake for a moment, before she looked out towards the beach. She was having a hard time trying to work out what the snake was trying to tell her. She wasn't sure whether is was something really important, but what other than the simple fact that Goneszh was probably dead, could it tell her? A frustrated sigh parted her lips and she turned her attention back to the snake. What if this was all some kind of distraction? A distraction in order to make sure that she couldn’t help him, who could have been swept up onto shore. A shake of her head was given, it wasn’t possible, she had swam too far out, unless the tide was coming back in.

She pressed her lips tightly together before she looked back down at the snake and its task, of which apparently it had finished. The letter ‘D,’ H,’ ‘A,’ ‘N,’ and ‘I,’ had been created by the snake and a frowned creased her forehead once again. It was not a word that she was familiar with and she watched the snake point its tail at the created word, before pointing it back at itself. Was this the breed of snake that it was? It was a… Whatever this was? ”D.. Daaa… Daaaneee, Dhani.” She finally said, before she angled her head. Was there a hidden meaning? A secret? Was this the name of the snake? She glanced back to the snake as she spoke again, ”Dhani? Is that your name? Is it the type of snake that you are? How is that going to help me when Goneszh is dead? If you’re not being possessed by Goneszh, or Goneszh is not controlling you, then what connection do you have to Goneszh to know about the treat and what it looked like? How could you be Goneszh? ” The snake would then destroy the word and she gritted her teeth together before watching the snake swim out to sea. This had to be some kind of trick, she was sure of it. The snake couldn't be Goneszh.
