There was the sound of water dripping somewhere in the darkness. It was loud, echoing off of the tunnel walls. Evalin could not tell how far away it was, or if she was even close to it. This maze of tunnels had become a home somewhat for the Immortal, and in the 3 seasons she had spent in this place she had begun to learn every inch of their twisting maze. As she walked her fingers trailed over the rough walls, her long nails clicking on the larger outcroppings as she whispered a soft stream of nonsense words under her breath. Behind her trailed Tsenrika, a shadow of his master that ran his own long nailed fingers along the opposite wall.

"Carry it far and wide, this whispered breath, this seed of power that I now spread through the earth." res was leaking from her fingertips, slipping into the stone as she walked, the same from her Familiar, "A breath of power, of unstoppable will go forth upon thine master's bidding."

The res sunk deeper and deeper into the stone, spreading out thinner and thinner as Evalin closed her eyes, moving only by touch to guide her, "Upon this day let the foundations of what is to come be laid. Twist and bend, shatter and grow..." Evalin stopped at one point in her walk, turning to face the wall with both hands pressed against its surface. Tsenrika did the same against the opposite wall. The res they had sent out spread further and further, creating a spidery network around them, over them, circling beneath and deeper and deeper into the structure of Zinrah.

"Crumble and Fall, this kingdom of Nothingness." These words were an activation and the power within her fluctuated, sending a ripple through the res as she and Tsenrika activated the spell at the same time. Numerous cracks, hundreds upon hundreds began to course through the stones, into the foundations of Zinrah itself. the walls of the tunnel groaned, a bit of dirt falling away as something similar to an earthen tremble passed around them... and then it all stilled once more. Straightening Evalin then continued on her path down the cavern, once more running her fingers along the wall as she made her way deeper and deeper into Zinrah, weakening its very foundations with each passing...

Wretched Aura: As a Wretched One Evalin possesses an unnatural aura about her that causes unease in those who get too close. It can come as a prickle of the hair on the back of the neck, a sense of 'wrongness' about her. How people experience it is different depending on their personality and how they handle the unnatural and unknown. Animals tend to become more agitated, more easily sensing how wrong Evalin is and often avoiding contact with her.

Weakening the Foundations

Evalin hummed softly as she worked, the flick of her fingers sending res deeper and deeper into the stones of Zinrah. Deeper and deeper she went, she and her Familiar winding their spell into the foundations of the cave itself. Step by step, tick by tick the foundations of destruction were laid, and with it came a deep sense of satisfaction to the Immortal's soul.

"Break and crumble, deep in stone. Suffer not the virtues of life. Let fort this terrible power, so that all shall feel unending might."

"Your verses still need some work." Tsenrika spoke dryly, continuing his work on the opposite side of Evalin.

"Never have I claimed to be one gifted in verse." Evalin said with a shrug, pausing to press her hand against the stones and send a ripple of power through the earth, dotting the cavern's interior with more and more faults, "But the words matter little if the intent is there."

Tsenrika sighed, but Evalin laughed and went back to her work. It was quite here, so deep were they into the upper caves that they had yet to see even a single creature. Thus it was with a small bit of surprise that they heard the unmistakable sound of scales over stone, coming from the direction they were going. A flicker of light in the darkness and the joy in this ancient soul withered and her smile slipped to form a frown instead. The res she had gathered she brought around her right hand, though she still continued to pour excess into the wall as she ran her fingers over the surface.

"Who isss there?" a male voice echoed as the Dhani and his light came into view. The creature squinted into the darkness, flicking his tongue to taste the air. Evalin did not slow her pace, Tsenrika trailing behind her thus soon enough the Dhani saw the reflection of his torch reflected off of the nuit's blood red eyes, "What are you doing thisss far into the tunnelsss? It is forbidden. I will take you to the--"

Evalin did not get the chance to learn where she was to be taken for she flicked her right hand, ice spinning from her fingertips to fly into the light, cutting into the Dhani's neck in a spurt of blood. The creature floundered, dropping his lantern and clutching his neck as a fountain of red spewed forth. Without pause Evalin stepped around his flailing corpse, avoiding his lashing tail to continue on her way. She felt her power stir and the sounds of a dying dhani ceased. It seemed the Familiar had taken mercy on the beast.

"It would be to your advantage to practice more on your prose. Somehow it detracts from the intent if the words are so unartistically put together."

The conversation continued on as if nothing had interrupted it. Evalin looked back over her shoulder and raised an eyebrow, "Since when does my dear Tsenrika care for such things as artistry?"

"Since the concept of it has grown upon me through the experiences seen through the mortal eyes."

The nuit grimaced and looked away, "How ridiculous. Mortals have no real concept of art at all. So fleeting are their lives. What could they possibly know."

They continued on like this, weakening the rock and stone where they could, for bells longer. Deeper and deeper until they had crisscrossed across the whole of Zinrah's upper tunnels. This task complete Evalin lowered her hand, setting it on her hip as she looked back at Tsenrika, "Now then, let us make our preparations to leave."

Weakening the Foundations

The Scarlet cavern was well lit as always, and the little Mistress was off completing her queenly acts somewhere in the nest. Tomorrow was the day which the nuit was sentenced to death if she were not already disposed of. Aka had planned for one final night together, to say tearful goodbyes... but then Evalin was not the type for such things. In her hands Evalin felt the soft fabric of one of the dresses that Aka had found for her. A deep, rich purple with a trim of gold. It was soft as silk, a true beauty...

Almost reverently Evalin folded the bit of cloth, laying it in a large chest along with several other articles or clothing. She had robes and dresses of various sizes and designs, some for her older form, others for her child like form. A few taken from Aka's own personal collection. The nuit took those she found most appealing, carefully folding and storing them in the chest. Finally Evalin moved to the chest in which the girl stored her vast fortune. The Immortal had pondered on taking the vast majority, all she could carry... however, such things were pointless to the nuit. She required just enough to make her way to her next destination, and to ensure those who followed her did as well. Thus she collected from the vast coffers only 300 GM. This would ensure that she and her still living companion would survive well enough for a few seasons, and perhaps help to fund what she was plotting once she reached her new destination.

Tying the string of the now full coin purse Evalin tossed this into the chest as well, closing the lid with a sigh, "There... All is prepared." Straightening Evalin took up her staff, turning toward the door where Gresshal leaned against the frame, "Come, carry this chest and we shall venture now to our new destination."

The Dhani frowned, but slithered forward. The chest was large of course, but to the Dhani it seemed to weigh no more than a few pounds. Hefting it onto his large shoulders he glared down at Evalin, "Where is it we are going?"

Evalin smiled, turning away to walk toward the exit, "To the beginning of our new chapter. Come then child, we have some distance yet to travel."

Weakening the Foundations

The sun was quickly setting beyond the trees, darkness moving to take over the land and consume what little light remained. It was the world of night, when monsters roamed about and all good Dhani ventured back into their nests. It was time to lay the final brick of her plans, and so she was lead to near the very center of the ruins over Zinrah, directly above the nest itself. Behind her she had left the bodies of the few foolish dhani who had remained when the kingdom of light faded away. Now it mattered little if she remained unseen, unknown, because the time for the final act was drawing close.

Tsenrika floated over her shoulder as Evalin examined the world around her. There was something of a space around the Immortal, but still it was obstructed by pillars and half destroyed buildings. All of which were simply in the way, and they would have to be removed. Closing her eyes Evalin extended her hand, Tsenrika floating over her outstretched palm, "Come to me Tsenrika... Let us begin."

Wordlessly the Familiar obeyed, his smooth surface touching Evalin's palm and there was a thrill that coursed through their bond. Like chains tightening around them the link that connected them drew them closer and closer together until there was no distinction between Evalin and Tsenrika, but they were one creature. Ice crystals danced around their form as the entire world was reflected off their perfectly smooth skin. Ice and cold became them, and even the ground was permeated with frost where their feet gently brushed as they floated just a few inches off the ground.

The world was all reflected upon the Immortal's skin, and what was reflected she saw. In all directions, in perfect clarity, and she understood. Power flooded her veins, making her soul swell with delight. she saw the world as it was then, and knew how it should be.

Raising her hands Evalin turned her head slightly. Her vision was obstructed by a few pillars and half destroyed walls that once made up some ancient civilization, and with a smile Evailn clapped her hands together. Res began to pour from her body, from every pore, beginning to spin around her in an ever faster spiral. She widened this spinning cloud of res, wider and wider until it was spread over 100 feet.

"And the Goddess proclaimed, let all that would obstruct her vision be scattered to the winds." Her voice held an echo to it, her own soft tones underlaid by the Familiar's deeper, chilly ones for an odd contrast.

With her intentions laid forth Evalin sent her will through the res that spun, calling it to attract rock and stone, some parts transforming to wind that would gust in strong bursts to rock the structures as cracks began to form from the force of the magic that pulled upon it. Stronger the Immortal pressed, filling the cracks that formed in the stones around her with res to widen them, pushing the air faster and faster as she pulled harder and harder until with a sudden rumble stone from the ruins began to crumble away, breaking off in pieces large and small to spin around and around. The debris grew as stone slammed against stone, wind picking up the pieces as the res threw it about in a typhoon of destruction that fed upon itself until all the free standing structures were reduced to rubble and flew through the are at the nuit's command. Once the pillars and walls were completely demolished Evalin threw her hands out, and with a surge all of the rocks flew outward in a wide arch, scattering in every direction to crash to a halt. The wind ceased its crazed blowing, and the res that remained was plunged deep into the ground.

Kneeling down Evalin placed her palms against the now cleared earth, pressing more and more res beneath the surface. She spread it out, deeper and deep into the very core of the caverns below, spreading out as far as her consciousness could send it and still remain in control.

"And she said, let the earth bow its head in submission under her might." Her force of will sent shivers down her spine as magic scourched her veins and flew into the earth. the res responded, spreading and cracking the earth stone ripped and rumbled. Deep into the ground the cracks spread, small, almost minuscule. Most would go unnoticed, but their effects would be great. The great roof over the nest of the Dhani was compromised, weakened in preparation for the destruction to come.

The world ceased its rumbles and quaking, and Evalin stood. Her power weighed heavily upon her, weariness already creeping into her bones as she sighed, raising one hand as the reflective surface began to receded from her body, pooling into her extended palm to form the perfect orb of her Familiar.

One hand raised to touch her cheek, pausing at the corner of her mouth where there was a wetness there and when she pulled her hand back she found a smear of ichor on her hands. She frowned as she looked at it, Still... I am not complete. There is still weakness here.

"Is something wrong?" Tsenrika floated around the nuit's shoulder, but Evalin was already wiping her hand on her robes, "It is nothing. Let us be off. We have further preparations to make." A flurry of robes and Evalin turned, slowly walking in the directions of the cave she had found two seasons before. That was the meeting place she had created for them. Where they would make their last stand, and where the world would come to accept the coming of a new age. Or, at the very least, the ending of another.

Two acid colored eyes looked upon the dead Dhani male in the tunnels, a long curved claw tracing his form with an apathetic sort of regret. Utterly silently scales undulated upon dark rocks, tracking Evalin enough behind her to keep Tsenrika's enhanced vision from spotting their slithering shadow.

As the Witch completed her final act and departed weakly, a hand rested upon a rocky pillar, those eyes burning a hole into the back of the witch's retreating back. Her actions within Zinrah had been noted by more than a few, and they would not be forgotten.
