26th, Fall 514 AV

It was early in the morning, Syna's grace peaking over the horizon when Aider decided to leave his home. His bag and quiver thrown over his shoulder and bow in hand. He moved briskly, stepping over the drunks that clogged the streets. A sigh escaping his lips as he walked across to the edge of the city."Drunken fools" he mumbled as he approached the end of the cities lines. He took a deep breath as his boot came down on the soil beyond the city. The crisp air of fall filling his lungs as he walked towards the rolling hill and woods before him. He had been here for more then a season and had little experience outside of the city. He felt the urge to walk the lands and find out what he could. Maybe potential hiding spots if need be. He shrugged, his life in the city had been rather dull aside from a few nights.

He sighed as he recalled a night, a small smile spreading across his face. He stopped once he had entered the woods. Looking for anything he could recognize, fallen trees and streams. Even certain rocks that he could use as a place marker. He put his hand against one of the trees, pausing for a moment. The plants here were so much different from his home, the feel of the surrounding area was different. Out here he truly felt like he could get hurt or worse. Though in the Nykan wilderness it was the same, danger lurked where you least expect it. He still felt more at ease. Here the lands felt different, as strange to him as the city its self. He could hear a few birds chirping their songs some that he had heard in the early mornings. The rustling of the bushes around him cause him to jump.

He quickly raised his bow in defense. An arrow notched, laying across the guard on his left arm as he looked around. Pointing the arrow where he looked.
"Nothing more then the wind" he said as he continued his hike through the woods.

A man and a Tiger? [Tara]

The thick pads on her paws created a traction as she sat, perched on a edgy stone. There was a small clearing where they leaves above her head had naturally parted. Allowing the warmth engulf the fur that was beginning to grow thick with the changing temperature. Originally her task was to venture just outside Sunberth's walls and gather what herbs she could. Her ears twitched and perked up as she heard the moving foot steps amongst the fallen leaves and forest debris. Instinctively she got from her stone and went front paws first into what looked like thick tall grass.

The yellowish color of the vegetation was rather easy to blend into. The thing that stuck out of the area was the brown backpack in the clutches of her teeth. Inside contained a change of clothes in case she needed to have a conversation. The clothes were folded neatly so she would have room for what herbs she found. After only a few yards of quick paws and a good pace she came across the noise. There was a man, he seemed a little out of his element with the area by the way he walked and viewed everything.

Tara knew better than to emerge from the he hiding spot as he weapon he had. Her pupils become thin tiny orbs as they adjusted to the light around her. Watching him from afar would be the wisest thing for now. To pick up on little things he did that would make him weak. If she couldn't attack in the open than waiting within the shadow's darkness would be her next resort.

Aider continued his hike, walking through a some brush before he raised his bow again. Notching an arrow between his fingers, the head pointed in front of him. The rustling of the brush and plants coming from all around him. His eyes scanning the brush. There was silence for a few ticks as the Nykian paused and waited. There was a low growl, the Nykian eyes snapped forward as he released the arrow. It flew forwards striking into the bush. A yelp was heard as a feral dog took off, arrow in its shoulder. The rest burst forward, three more dogs charging at Aider. The Nykian turned and ran, trying to keep out of the reach of their jaw. Biting into the back of his calf, sending him to the ground.

He rolled over onto his back and kicked towards the dog. Who refused to let go, biting and ripping through the cloth and skin. Aider let out a groan of pain. Still trying to kick away the animal. He reached towards his bow, another dog grabbing his arm. Pulling it away from the bow. Aider grabbed at its neck, trying to squeeze or strike it enough to get it way from him. The third dog began ripping into Aider's other leg causing him to scream out in pain. He reached out for the bow again. His fingers unable to hook the bow and pull it close to him. He looked over to the arrows that were now scattered all over the ground. He managed to wrap his fingers around one of the arrows. Pulling it into the palm of his hand. He struck out at the dog on his arm, bringing the arrow down into its back. The dog yelled pulling away for him. It snarled again, jumping back at him.

A man and a Tiger? [Tara]

Even though there was an uneasy feeling that bubbling within the depths of her stomach, she did not flee. Locked onto the choice to stay and watch her prey, or hunter. While the Kelvic choose to steer from the full blown lifestyle of an animal, there would always be tiger buried in her blue veins. Then it happened quickly. Two decent sized dog emerged from the vegetation, full speed towards this man. After the smell of dirt and must was in the air than it was all the scent of warm blood.

One Tara was very familiar to and accustom to following. After all, she was a doctor. It only took her a few ticks to decide whether to aid this man or leave him to his demise. If the dog's teeth weren't death than it would be slobbery, infected, saliva crawling in their mouth. Tara was not one to let someone founder in their own blood while she could do something. That was not her. She could still hear the painful screams and the growls in her head. Moving out of the bushes, her motions were nothing but gracefully and deadly.

With paws that willingly have her the power to crush bone out of pure force, she put forth effort. Opening her jaw she let out a loud growl and than clenched it over his shoulders. Lucky for her they were not that thick boned creatures. Slowly, the sound of bone fracturing under immense pressure would feel her acute ears. The dog caught within her grasp willing in between her clutch. It's yelps certainly did not go unheard. One of it's fellow canine grabbed onto Tara's back leg.

Now that they were no longer focused on the man, she was to be next. She wasn't going to let that happen. Her jaws rushed the shoulder bones of the dog in her mouth, the rest of his life was to Dira. The goddess would most certainly take the animal within a matter of chimes. Tara painfully whipped around and tried to get this dog in her deathly teeth as well.
oocVery, very sorry for the extended wait!

The Nykian was sure this was it. He could feel their teeth riping into his flesh. The warm crimson liquid oozing from his legs and arm. His teeth gritted as he tried to fight against the dogs. The pain shooting through his body as he felt their attack. This is the end was the only thing on the Nykians mind. Images of Kaie and his life flashed through his head. "I'm gonna die out here" he groaned. He continued to struggle against them. Pushing and kicking at them but they did not let up. Their assault continued on the man as he began to black out from the amount of pain coursing through his body.

There was a flash of orange in his eyes as a tiger came and attacked the dogs. Crushing the bones of one of them. He opened his eyes and saw the beast fighting back against the others. "Bless Caiyha" he muttered under his breath moving to grab and arrow as the tiger fought against the dog. He could not let the tiger fight alone even if it would be more then enough for the dogs. He reached out and picked up his bow and took aim. The pain in his arm made it hard for him to keep steady. He notched the arrow, the feathers brushing against his face. He tried to steady his breath and his shot so he would not hit the tiger. Already down on his knees the man tried to muster up as much strength as he could taking aim at the dog.

The arrow tip wobbling as the mans vision began to blur. "Petching mutt" he grumbled pulling the string back and releasing. It flew the air and struck into the back of the mutts leg. Aider fell to the ground, his breathing shallow. After a few ticks the man tried to sit up again. To see what was happening but his vision was still blurred all he could see was the color of the tigers fur. "Caiyha... thank you" he muttered as he laid back as the pain spread through his body.

With the dog's release on her hind leg she twirled around and her large paw swiped the now deceased dog off of her. Tara lifted up her back leg, balancing it above the ground. Limping poorly with every step. Her green eyes began to serve the area. Hopping forward a few steps the tree line was now in clear view. There was a small patch of pale orange fur was scattered on the moist earth.

Luckily her fur was growing thick in layers and what was ripped out would not be missed. Her long bleach white whiskers twitched as the scent of blood was now all that filled her large nostrils. The possibility of there being more dogs was not a guarantee she could provide. What she could do is send a vocal message of intimidation. Tigers had the fiercest roar between all of the large felines.

It did come in handy.

Rupturing as a small growl from her throat morphed itself into a close ranged roar. Shaking her head with the sound, it was bound to frighten off any smaller predators or animals in general that were within the area. This was the wilderness of Sunberth for you. Whatever moved and an appetite searched to quench the thirst. Than she remembered it, the man still had a weapon at his disposal. Would he attack her?

Her large head turned to see what the situation looked like. He was no dubitably injured but wielding a bow came at no trouble. Tara's jaw began to hurt. Most likely she strained it form trying to crush the thin bones of an animal that was alive and breathing. Which was a very strenuous thing to do when the animal still had the fur, muscle, and skin still on the animal. Slowly her black soft ears were laid down.

Fearfully the fur below her nose lifted and exposed her gums and thick teeth. Tara emitted a high hiss, letting this man know she wasn't going without a fight. Her long tail swished and flickered behind her.

He looked at the tiger and tossed his bow to the side. Trying to lean himself against a tree. He felt like his life would come to an end out here. He knew he would not have the strength to make it back to the city to find the doctor. Maybe the tiger would kill him. Bite down into his neck as he laid there. He wondered if the Gods were laughing at him. Looking at the man who had been graced by the presence of a beautiful Myrian woman multiple times was now about to die at the hands of a tiger. Or maybe the tiger would leave. Take off in the woods and just leave him to die.

He wondered why it had saved him in the first place. Maybe it was hungry wanting to eat him. It would be easy for it. He had little strength to fight back as it was and now what was he going to do. "I am not going to attack you. I can't win there is no point in wasting my time trying" he said. His voice clear with the pain that was shooting through his body. "I would ask that you don't kill me. But what is the point? I am stuck in this rat's nest of a city, my life is now both literally and figuratively wasting away. Caiyha may have sent you to save me. But I doubt that... Why would the gods bother to help now?" he sighed. The pain made the mans head rush.

He took his hand and touched the wound on his arm. Rubbing the blood between his fingers and looking at the tiger. He looked at the battle that had just happened between them. "Thank you. At least I won't die and become their food. The earth can take me back" he mumbled, trying to sit up.
