This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

Harkon was sitting beneath a parasol with a dark blue Akalak in a heated debate. "Any trained mercenary could tell you that a sword is a better supplemental weapon to an axe. Double axes may double their offensive power, but also double the inherent weaknesses they have." The Akalak looked surprised and dubious at Harkon's statement, "If your axe has weakness, then you haven't trained enough."

"The more trained you become in the axe, the more you know of the weakness. The neck and shaft may serve as a last resort defense, but too much of that, and you will decapitate your own weapon. A sword helps to fill the gap in your defense, as well as providing a well balanced offense."

"You make a reasonable point I suppose, but the argument of well balanced offense, and all out offense is one that has been around well beyond my years. I suppose we will have to spar one day to find out."

Harkon chuckled, and nodded, "That we do friend. I believe your charge is leaving, you may want to join her." Harkon nodded at a woman standing and departing, a Lynint woman. The Akalak was a protective mercenary much like himself. They shook hands, and he left with her. Harkon had no assignment today and was just lounging in the square. He had enjoyed his debate, even if it had gotten a little loud a few times. When it came to fighting, mercenaries could often debate the merits and flaws until they were blue in the face, and Harkon was no exception. He fingered the peace-tied battleaxe hanging from his hip, really wishing to get more practice with it.

"Why must men always argue amongst themselves?"Jacques thought. "Arguing over duel axes. Hah. I could show them what at my bare hands and ghosts could do. Heh."Jacques silently boasted in his mind.

Life was good for Jacques. He had a house, and hadn't harmed himself when he was summoning. However, he was in the mood for some slightly demented fun. Regardless of the consequences, Jacques was determined to do this. To show ths blundering idiot how stupid and prideful he was.

Walking up to the boastful man, Jacqes challenged him.
"Axes. Hah. You should see what I could do with my bare hands and some... Err...Otherworldly creatures. Your axes wouldn't stand a fething chance."

Thinking to himself, Jacques decided that may have been the wrong approach, but he was committed.
"Why don't you come with me and check out some of my creatures." Jacques said with a smirk on his face."Maybe we could even have a little wager ."
Meh.

A Stranger's Favor (Jacques)

Postby Harkon on October 21st, 2014, 11:29 pm

Harkon had just received an ale from a rather attractive Eypharian slave. Too bad she was just a serving girl. If she worked at Towerly's he could think of several uses for her six hands. As he took a sip of the light amber liquid, he saw a very poorly dressed man approach him. Did the man have no sense of Kenashian fashion? Petching tourists. Harkon hadn't seen this fool before, and the moment he started talking, he was glad. The way his words flowed, Harkon immediately thought the man was drunk. Or simple. Or both. The Benshiran couldn't even follow the 'logic' that spewed from his mouth. He had laughed at the mention of axes, boasted about his hands, and mentioned something about... otherworldly creatures? Harkon didn't even know what to make of that last bit. But with all of those boasts, the crazy fool thought Harkon couldn't beat him with his axes?

And then the man offered for Harkon to see these creatures, and wager on... something. He hadn't said how much, or what to bet on. This man clearly wasn't simple, nor was he drunk. He was insane. The things he spoke of made no sense, and he wasn't even sure the man even knew who or where he was. He'd seen it a few times in Yaheba, but they were always really old men that were well past their time. Harkon took a moment to take a bigger swig of his drink before responding to this man. Setting his goblet down, he looked up at the poor, insane fool.

"I'm sure you could buddy... I have some... business to attend to, but if you tell me where you keep these critters of yours, I'll be sure to stop by."

Harkon had no intention of joining this lunatic for anything. As for the business to attend to, that wasn't a complete lie. He still had a perfectly good drink to finish, and wanted to find a way he could bed that gorgeous Eypharian woman. Maybe if he found out who she belonged to, he could lie to her, and convince her that he had something to do with that Dynasty or Freeborn. He knew plenty of spots along the beaches and beneath the bridges he could use.

A Stranger's Favor (Jacques)

Maybe all black, head-to-toe, was a bad wardrobe choice. Ehh. Whatever. Jacques was attracting many stares, not good kinds, though. Jacques highly doubted this outfit would earn any dates. Men looked as if they would take Jacques around back if he even looked at them wrong. Ohh, how Jacques preffered his otherworldly babies to these… Creeps…

To say it politely, this man was not a believer. Clearly, this man who Jacques first talked to was more concerned with his drink and that six handed woman then him. On hindsight, Jacques did come across a little crazy "Come home and let me show you my monsters." Stranger danger. Definitely not a good first impression, at least things could not get any worse.

That woman was repulsing, even with her six hands. Jacques had no idea why anyone would be attracted to her. Her clothing, or lack thereof, showed Jacques way to much of her body. Guess she needed more tips. She reminded him of a sexy spider.

Walking over, Jacques' cape swished around him, and his boots made thumping sounds on the floors and Jacques sat down directly in front of the man. Looking him in the eye, Jacques said, "First, sorry for the bad first impression. I overheard you talking and got a little ful of myself. Seeing from your outfit and conversation its obvious that your a mercenary. I think my…err… skills might help you. Maybe, I could give you a demonstration. Guess I should introduce myself. Name's Redundo. Jacques Redundo…Buddy."

After his introduction, Jacques raised his hand and bought an ale from the woman. Sipping it, Jacques calmly waited for the man's reply.
