The Ice House
The Ice House is not far outside the Lobularia, staying close to the few other buildings that have been built above the ground. It rests at the bottom of a mountain, just above Kalinor. The Ice House takes advantage of Kalea's cold winters to provide ice fore Kalinor citizens. The Ice is brought in from Lilium Lake or taken down from the mountains above Kalinor during the winter. You'll find the building nestled under a patch of the massive pine trees that the Symenestra called home after fleeing Falyndar before the Valterrian. The massive pines keep the sun from reaching the ice house all year round.
The ice house itself is nothing but a cone building. There are several layers of brick with straw and woodchips between them for insulation. Inside there is a large basin that has been carved into the ground with holes near the bottom for drainage. This basin is always filled to the brim by the end of winter so that Kalinor may have ice for the rest of the year.
The only time its guaranteed for someone to be at the ice house is during the winter. Symenestra, lead by Kalvod, gather ice and pack it into the house. During the spring, summer and fall seasons, there is not guarantee that someone will be there. Individual Symenestra are rarely allowed ice for little reason during the summer, as the store of ice is more often used for medical and food purposes and disrupted sparingly. However, the ice house is a great place to earn a little extra mizas during the winter, if you are willing to put in some hard labor.

He takes the responsibility, once a year, to ensure that the city is stocked with ice. He is also the man that organizes the distribution of ice during the warmer months. Employment
Employment in the ice-house is very temporary, and cannot be considered a career, but it is a way to earn a little extra cash during the winter. There are no prerequisite skills to learn, only the ability to learn and follow directions. The job usually takes a full day and consists of nothing more than carving ice-blocks from Lilium lake (if the ice is thick enough) or from the mountains above Kalinor. Kalvod will give 15 gold mizas for each trip someone takes with him.
