Appearance

Standing at 5'7", Thuma is taller than the average female Inartan, and most of the men too. This growth upset the balance of her Inartan genes and gave her a wiry, thin frame. Her persistent training as an Endal has led to a muscular, toned body.

Her auburn hair reaches partway down her back, framing dark amber eyes bright with curiosity. A small section of hair is braided in the front, threaded with a green ribbon, and weaved through with glass beads and a few lost secondary feathers from her Wind Eagle, Shathisae.

Thuma is usually seen wearing a simple pair of bryda with leather ankle boots and a decorated vinati, leaving her midriff bare. Over her shoulders she wears a green silk scarf loosely wrapped around her neck with the tails of it hanging down over the chest. In the colder seasons she wears a katinu for warmth.

The only jewelry she wears are two silver rings, one on each little finger.

She has a scar on her right shoulder of three deep, rugged lines. This is from the incident when she was attacked by two Kougara on an adventure to see a Likenstorm Elk.

Thuma didn't have any girl friends, or friends in general, growing up in the youth section other than her twin sister Yania. She was an adventurous, curious child, and through the teachings in her classes, disciplined. She has always loved learning; reading became a favorite pastime, as well as bothering her teachers with endless questions. Being a hard worker, she thoroughly looked forward to every Bendi she got, and tried to perform her tasks to the best of her abilities.

Thuma was never outright bullied during her studies, but she never grew close to the other children, always feeling the animosity between herself and her classmates. Thuma simply did not fit in. She wasn't interested in giggling and gossiping, or keeping up with the current fashion trends. And the boys were all intimidated by her. At first this bothered her. She wanted to be a part of something, and wanted to belong. But she became independent and self-reliant which has lead to her being a resilient and powerful woman.

Though she practiced archery as a young Yasi with her other classmates, it was the one thing she always struggled with. She watched her sister Yania practice with her bow, her movements fluid and her aim always spot-on. When Thuma tried she felt jerky and wrong. She is much more agile with a talon sword, her main weapon.

Always having a passion for knowledge, Thuma spent much of her time in the Enclave, learning new things in a range of all sorts of subjects, despite it's limited library. She is a bright, intelligent Inartan, as many are. Her ability to stay calm and clear-headed even in moments of immediate danger has helped Thuma in many ways. Her reflexes with a talon sword seem quick and impressive to those who are limited in their clarity.

The only person Thuma is really attached to would be Yania. The sisters' bond grew stronger when Yania joined Thuma's flight and became her hunter.

Thuma is very serious. Though she enjoys celebrating as much as the next Inartan, she rarely dances, jokes, sings, or laughs. She isn't rude or particularly apathetic, just stoic. She is not ruled by her emotions.

Character History

Thuma was born to a young Inartan, Freni, along with her sisters. They were triplets but not identical.

Until the age of eight Thuma lived in the Darniva Commonrooms with her mother, father, and two sisters Yania and Hadley. Her mother, Freni, is a Chiet and has been working in the youth section of Wind Reach, teaching a few classes for the Yasi since before the triplets' birth.

Thuma's father, Verwyl, is an Avora cook in the Communal Kitchens. He is well known throughout the city's locals and always seems to be in a grand mood. He is a big man with a full beard and a kind smile, whom seems to always be wearing a dirty apron even when not working.

At the age of eight Thuma and her sisters moved in to the youth section and began their training to see which caste they would eventually belong to. Immediately she had an aptitude for cooking. When she turned 10, a chef Artisan chose her as an apprentice. She liked being in the kitchens and cooking, but it wasn't something that she thought she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Thuma wanted to be outside, she wanted to explore the mountains around the city.

At fourteen, it was obvious that Thuma was to be a cook, she thought her future was set in stone, and was resigned to it. Until one day, she and Yania were out on the mountain range in search of the elusive Likenstorm Elk, when they were attacked by two Kougara. A wind eagle by the name of Shathisae rescued them and Thuma bonded to her the next day. This cemented her entrance in to the Endal Caste.

Being an amateur with a bow, but still bonded to a Wind Eagle, Thuma invited Yania to join her flight and go on hunting trips with her. Hadley is an Avora glass-worker and Thuma rarely sees her. When she can, Thuma will practice her archery with the short-bow she acquired from her grandmother, whom passed long ago as an Avora hunter like Yania.

Yania is the only other member of Thuma's family that decided to move in to the Eagle Aeries with Thuma. Yania is treated with just as much respect as an Endal, even though officially she is only Avora.

The first thing people usually notice about Yania is how gentle her features seem. She is not, in the least, gentle. Like her sister, she is rather tall for an Inartan, she stands at 5'7" and 150 lbs. She has a common, outspoken and bold attitude about all things, not caring if what she is saying doesn't make any sense or if it's even right. She has been in plenty of fights because of this. She has a scar on her neck and a very deep scar on her side from when she was attacked by a Kougara at the age of fourteen. She is endlessly sarcastic and persistently stubborn. As a hunter, she fits in well and is respected throughout the city. Her sister Thuma, being an Endal with next to no archery skill, asked her to go on hunts with her. Yania gladly accepted and now lives in the Eagle Aeries with Thuma and her eagle Shathisae.

Shathisae is a beautiful mostly black and blue eagle with two white stripes lining her shoulders. Her wingspan is 38 feet and she is built more for strength than for speed. For many years Shathisae was a very picky, individualistic Wind Eagle. Several Yasi throughout the years would come to Shathisae's Aerie, being nice and trying to coax her into bonding with them. But Shathisae did not feel that she connected with any of them. She turned away from the young Yasis and would ignore them for however long their bendi kept them there. It went on like this until one day she was out on a regular flight when she spotted two young Inartans, Thuma and Yania, no older than fourteen, being attack by two Kougara. The eagle saved the girls and bonded with Thuma soon afterward. She also has gained a scar from this attack, a deep one right above her right eye. Shathisae is polite, and does not voice her opinions often. In this way both she and Thuma are the same and different than the norm. She only lets one other person, Thuma's sister Yania, ride on her back.
