My Words | Your Words | My Thoughts

The Yukman wasn't to be deterred; even as Aventis took his place between his fellow squire and the creature, it refused to stop as the small pointed stick jabbed against its skin. Both thick arms flailed in wide circles, trying to cut at the squires legs or horse as it drew itself closer. Worse still, there was no way to move away. Cameron was all but pushing back against Aventis with his longsword unsheathed and shield in hand. "Hey, don't worry about me, I'm fine." Indeed, he seemed exceptionally calm. Shaken and surprised, yes, but when faced with such a creature he didn't back down, didn't turn away and flee. He drew his weapon, and almost battled for place of killing the beast. "I've taken these things on before, don't you worry. Taken on plenty." He wouldn't listen to the squirrels words, nor Aventis.

Oriana pushed ahead while the squirrels concentration remained on the pair now standing together before the single Yukman, almost toppling him from the seat at the back. He wheeled on her, easily climbing the thin platemail to her shoulder to get a better look. "What do you think you're doing!? Get back, move away!" She seemed nervous, but her face was set in grim determination when she stopped for only a moment and turned to him. "But I can do this! I can take one of these things on, if Cameron can!" He couldn't believe his ears. Even with his yelling, it seemed to do nothing. All three of the squires had turned their back on his orders. Even now, as he pressed them, they stubbornly ignored him. Before Oriana could get too close, the squirrel turned and leaped from her shoulder, to the lowest branches of the nearest tree.

The Yukman clawed and screeched even louder, with a voice that sounded like shards of glass grating on cold metal, swiping at the Eypharian's horse from the narrow distance that he thankfully kept. Oriana came up to the side of the creature with her battleaxe held in both hands, ready to attack when she had an opening. Cameron didn't have the sense of either of them. While the creature was busy attacking, regardless of the objections made, he rounded the opposite side of Aventis with his shield held up to protect his chest and face. The three squires together made a c-shaped curve to nearly surround the beast. "Told you," Cameron grinned with his sword ready to slash at the creature as soon as it dove for another attack, "I can take on any of these thi--"

The creature charged in the few moments that opened, mouth gaping like a hungry cavern, feeble blows shrugged off in favor of the tender and exposed thigh and shin of the boys legs left exposed thanks to the small shield. Platemail was little match for the thick rocky teeth burrowing through his shin, as claws dug under the joints and ripped pieces away to reveal the bare flesh. It worked quickly; blood seeped down his leg, with some small chunks of flesh falling to the ground with wet squelching.

Oriana screamed in alarm and swung the battleaxe at the beast, nearly succeeding - at the same time, nearly severing Camerons entire leg from the thigh down. Likely she'd never experienced one of her fellow squires being mauled in such a horrific way. Cameron himself was screaming for an entirely different reason; tears dripping down his cheeks as blood dripped down his twitching leg. His shield and sword were bashing ineffectually against the back of its head, but stricken in shock, they were nothing more than glancing blows. He said he'd fought Yukmen before, he should have known that they sometimes liked to eat their victims alive.

Yukmen, Yuk!

OOCTo graders: So, I wasn’t sure exactly what to do pertaining to the Yukman. I asked Arch and he said I could control it a bit. Just so there’s a little clarification. Thank’ya

The squire’s reassurances did little to ease Aventis’ nerves. He gulped in rugged breath after rugged breath, mostly unaware of what was going on around him, focusing intently and solely on the beast before him and keeping it away from his fellow squire, though the pricks and stabs didn’t do much to deter it from its goal, which seemed to be the squire. He didn’t pay much mind when the third squire pulled her horse up next to the group, not much noticing when the peculiar little Pycon was absent. No matter. The beast was flanked by the squires now, lunging and falling back in a frenzied manner, blindly slashing and jumping at whatever meat it could take, seeming to favorite the male squire Aventis had originally sought to protect. “Told ya’,” The squire exclaimed, ready to slash down at the malicious creature. “I can take on any of these thi-” he paused. It took Aventis a moment to completely comprehend what had happened.

The beast, taking any opportunity, found an opening in the squire’s defense and immediately dove for his knee, quickly ripping off armor. The female squire screamed in horror, the male in pain, as the beast sunk its teeth into the soft meat of the squire’s leg. The squire, in her panic, swung her axe at the beast, nearly injuring the squire further but missing by but a hair. Aventis did not scream, and did not panic. He watched silently with a calm disposition. He was not thinking about his comrades, now, nor was he thinking about the absence of the squirrel, the presence of the woman, or the beast that feasted on his brother in service. He thought only about its death. Quickly, precisely, he pulled back his arm, taking aim at the beast. He thrusted with such force that his shoulder seemed to ache the moment he let loose his arm, watching seemingly from out of body as the sword he thrusted at the beast struck inside the ear cavity of the animal, the prior force added forcing the blade further and deeper into its skull, watching the tip appear on the opposite side of its head.

The beast was dead the moment Aventis’ rapier touched it, but its jaws had not released grip of the squire. Aventis let go of his blade, leaving it sticking out of the monster’s ears, caked in blood, jumping off of his mount. He raised his shortsword above his head, slamming it into the apex of the beast’s skull. He gripped the jaw of the beast, forcing it out of the squire’s leg, and using the hilt of his blade as a lever to pull the top half of the animal’s skull out of him as well, turning the corpse, grabbing hold of both his weapons, and forcing it to fall, the swords sliding out of its body as it did so. He stood there, panting, looking over the corpse of the beast, his arms hanging loosely at his sides.

“Do you need help?” Aventis said to the male squire, without making eye contact, rather to staring down at the fallen beast.

Yes! Yes I need petching help!” He yelled at Aventis, who nodded slowly.

“Where is Archailist?”

My Words | Your Words | My Thoughts

Tears were still flowing freely down Camerons face, even as the beast was finally levered from the weeping wound. It looked, for all the world, like something had tried to take a bite out of him and succeeded. A sizeable chunk of muscle and skin had been ripped clean away, although the wound was still rather jagged and more force had been put into drawing the chunk free rather than actually cutting it away. It was about that moment that the squirrel reappeared - hopping down, seemingly out of nowhere, from one of the branches above to stand beside Cameron and look up at the mess that'd become of his leg. The boy looked like he was still in shock. What bravado had caked his features before had been washed away quite quickly. "You'll be fine." He didn't know the first thing about medicine or surgery or human anatomy, but shyke, there were better times to talk about such things.

"Where the petch did you go?!" Oriana had apparently recovered from the moment of panic. She still had her battleaxe at the ready, poised to strike at the fallen creature in case it rose a second time. She was still breathing heavily though. "We needed help, and you just.. disappeared.." He swerved back on her again as her timid personality slowly manifested again, in the aftermath. Cameron was staring at him as well - as if he was trying to blame everything that'd happened so far solely on the squirrel, for not helping in his time of need.

"Preparing."

Just as he spoke, the true threat emerged from the tree-line. It started as a gentle rustling as they pushed aside the few branches and leaves that still hung in the fall chill, but the same high-pitched shrieks from before emerged along with the familiar Yukmen faces. He didn't know how many there were, but there looked to be at least seven or eight. At the sight of their fallen brother, they began shrieking even louder than before, waving their fists and some of them began slamming them back into the ground in a menacing way - as though they wished that the humans skulls were underneath. None of them attacked though. Most of them, a small band of about four, emerged from the same space that the first Yukman had stood. The others were spread thinly around the four squires, effectively surrounding them with the horde. They were waiting for their leader.

What a leader he was, too. Almost eight feet in height, with significantly more muscle than the others. He didn't even look like he was modeled after a human at all, not like the others. He towered above them all, with a stern scowl pressed deep into his dirt-covered face as he bore down on the small group of squires. Is that... Abruptly, the Akalak Yukman bellowed in a shriek an octave lower than the others, and they answered in reply with their own excited yells. "Get back on your horse." He didn't look back to Aventis as he spoke; all eyes were on the alpha Yukman. "The patrol has become a matter of life or death. From now on, you do exactly what I say, without question." Cameron was whimpering like a frightened child, and frankly the squirrel didn't blame him. The only reason Arch was so calm was because he knew no matter how this ended, he could still make it out alive.

"Four-armed one, whatever your name is. Stand next to Oriana. Cameron, get between and behind them."

Preparing.” The squirrel responded sullenly. There was something about[ the way the little Pycon responded to the squire’s inquiry that offput Aventis. He wasn’t particularly skilled at reading the expression of an animal, no less a squirrel, but Aventis didn’t much need to know exactly what Archailist was thinking to know that he realized something the rest of the group had yet to comprehend. Its eyes were focused intently on the horizon rather to the dead beast before them or the injured squire, meaning that there was something close. Something big. Something more pressing than Cameron’s injury.

Then it came.

There were shrill cries, only to be described as hungry and wanting, erupting ravenously from the brush. The sound itself, never mind the actual beasts they originated from, seemed to surround the group. Aventis knew then what was happening, to some extent. He gathered that the beast that had just attacked did not travel alone. He gathered that they were carnivorous. And he gathered that they were the food. His grip tightened on his weapons, and his upper hands tightened into tight fists. He didn’t know what would happen, and didn’t think about possibilities. All he needed to know were the ways to live. Run, which is unlikely seeing as the group was most certainly surrounded, and fight, which did not ensure the survival of the remainder of the group.

One by one, faces appeared in the near distance, feral and contorted, cautious and hungry. Their cries and shrieks did little to ease the already uneasy group of squires. Cameron’s moans of pain were soon shadowed by the wails of the beasts grew ever closer, not yet daring to emerge from the brush. Aventis was less than experienced with group tactics, animalistic or not, but it was obvious that the pack of bloodthirsty heathens were waiting for something… Bigger, stronger to pick off the group so as to not lose any more numbers. Their howls quieted for a moment, as if in anticipation, and Aventis, with tight grip of his weapons watched his surroundings keenly, expecting the worst, which is near what happened.

Emerging slowly from the brush was the giant, standing about Aventis’ height of six foot five but with enormous muscle mass. The shrieks quieted, almost in awe, as the goliath made it’s slow way, lumbering towards the group with a pugnacious intensity. As it walked the very earth seemed to shy away from his massive feet, small piles of dirt and twig rippling away from his monstrous feet as they pounded the ground, small rocks twisting and turning in his blue flesh. He used to be an Akalak, that Aventis could tell. Or, something that resembled it. He had been turned into a behemoth of far more than considerable structure. He scowled, enraged at the group’s very presence, ready to kill any one of them at a moment’s notice. He stopped, standing over the corpse of his dead kin, as if he were protecting it. His massive hands curled into fists the size of small boulders, which, Aventis noticed, were far larger than his neck.

Its jaw dropped, showing off its jagged, stone-like jaw, letting out a cry that could easily be compared to a war horn. “Get back on your horse.” he heard the Pycon say, obviously to Aventis. Aventis backed up slowly, the grip on his weapons not daring to loosen, keeping constant eye contact with the beast. It wasn’t long before Aventis had reached the horse, and he mounted it as slowly as he reached it. “The patrol has become a matter of life and death. From now on, you do exactly as I say, without question.” the squirrel informed the group. Aventis nodded, only able to mutter an “I can see that, Archailist.”

"Four-armed one, whatever your name is. Stand next to Oriana. Cameron, get between and behind them." He commanded, and Aventis, too smart to disobey, followed his orders.

When the squires were in place, weapons brandished and ready to die, they found themselves in a standoff. Neither the squires or the Akalak moved. They just stared at each other.

“Waiting instruction, ser.”

My Words | Your Words | My Thoughts

If this was any other situation, he'd likely feel quite empowered and happy to be put immediately in charge of the group, and actually have them listen. However, there were much bigger problems to attend to. They were locked in each-others eyes, waiting for the smallest twitch, a reaction. "On my call, all three of you are going to charge. Do not break formation. Do not stop. Shields raised. Run them down, and do not try to attack them unless they manage to grapple you. Cameron, keep behind them and wipe out the stragglers left behind. Aim for the trees that way." They were going to make a living barricade to charge through the majority of the group and hopefully through the thinnest line of the circle and out to safety. He said the majority, because there wasn't a chance that they were going to make it past the huge Akalak Yukman. He'd likely throw them straight off their horse before they got close enough.

"... NOW." The Alpha screeched even louder than before, and the others followed it as they moved in from all sides. Just as Oriana and Cameron began their run, so did the squirrel turn in the opposite direction to face those that had already begun their run towards the back end of their barricade. "KEEP RUNNING!" If the Yukman managed to get behind, then it'd all be over. The plan relied entirely on them keeping formation, pushing forwards, trampling down those that were in their path and knocking the rest aside.

As the first Yukman scrambled forwards, the squirrel met his foot with a reeled-back punch thrown just above the point where his foot met his shin. It screeched in pain and toppled over, but by then Arch had already slipped between the legs to launch himself at the second Yukman marching straight for them. He reached out to try and grab it around the leg, but it raised it at just the right moment out of what was likely pure luck. Arch was nearly crushed as it stomped down right on the same spot, and just about managed to leap out of the way before it came down. Even as he rolled over onto his back and rose to his feet, it continued, and others came into vision following. Even the one that he'd taken down, soon rose again in a stumble to try and catch up with them. I can't take them all on at once.. shyke..

He did the next best thing, though. As the others were making their escape, he turned to the one that'd nearly crushed him and once more launched for his leg. This time, he didn't raise it fast enough and the squirrel managed to dig his little clay claws into the surface of its cracking skin and use it to climb straight up the side of its leg, underneath its armpit and all the way up to its head.. which he punched, as hard as possible, right in the temple. It screeched in pain and nearly toppled, and when it didn't, he punched it again before turning and using its body as a stepping stone to hop to the next.

Yukmen, Yuk!

OOCTo graders: In this post Aventis will use strategies and moves that seem complicated on first glance but are honestly just slashes and pokes. I’m playing within skill level, I promise. c:

He couldn’t believe his ears. His orders, according to the squirrel that commanded him, was to rush. Just rush at the group. Maybe in attempt to flee. It didn’t matter. There was a big issue with the plan, a huge, blue issue. “Are you insane?!” Aventis yelled to the squirrel. “We’re injured! And I lack a shield! We can’t spearhead this if we don’t have the head of the spear!” He complained. It didn’t matter. Either the squirrel didn’t hear him or he didn’t care. Aventis didn’t hear the command, but he didn’t need to. Archailist sprung from the tree, aiming himself at the ring of Yukmen surrounding the group. Shortly after, Cameron and Oriah both rushed directly at the Akalak, shields and weapons raised, forcing their horses into a gallop. Aventis took just a moment longer to start, but it was enough.

He followed his comrades closely, only a fraction of a second behind them, but a fraction of a second, as he already should have known, is still enough. It wasn’t long before they reached the vicinity of the Akalak, and because Aventis was the behind the rest of the group, he was the one chosen.

It only took a little bit of effort for the massive man. He knew what he wanted. He knew where it was. And he knew how to get it. He swung his massive paw at the group blindly, knowing he would hit one of them. And he did. All the squire felt was pressure. So much pressure. The hand was nearly as big as his entire chest, the gargantuan hand stretching from his left shoulder to his right pec, crushing his ribs against his organs as it tore him from the reins of his horse. He flew from his saddle, slamming against the icy ground with a thud, expecting only death from the Akalak, but instead found an opportunity.

The other squires had all but reached safety, just about to break through the ring that the squirrel squire had cleared, safe from the alpha thanks to Aventis being subjected to its hunger. He pushed himself off of the forest floor, he knew it’d all be over if he dared spend more than a second on his back. He felt his chest, checking for broken bones. Upon discovering, Aventis realized something. He had no choice but to fight the Akalak. If he ran, its powerful legs would catch up with him in a tick. If he got back to his horse, the Akalak would get there first, and there was no telling what it would do. But Aventis was lucky. The Akalak wasn’t hungry for him. It was hungry for his horse.

It was fanatic, jumping and pouncing as the shrieking Akalak grasped for its tender neck with its hands, ready to consume the poor beast, if only he could catch it. Aventis could use this.

He sprinted at the Akalak, who had grabbed the muzzle of his horse and was in the process of silencing it for good, but compared to the shrill shrieks and cries of the Yukmen in battle behind him, Aventis’ footsteps were a zephyr. There was no possible way the alpha could have heard him. It was stupid, it was stubborn, it was his only option. Aventis slashed at the Yukmen’s lower back, watching anxiously as it arched up to the sky, screaming in pain. It had not yet let go of the horse with its right hand, but its left hand was free. Aventis didn’t have much time. Quickly, with his lower left hand, which was free of encumberment, he located a shard of stone, a promontory protruding sharply from the same shoulder that held the beast’s free arm, pulling it down until his elbow was at a ninety degree angle. The Yukmen was stubborn and stupid, refusing to release his potential meal, but Aventis had him in checkmate. It was game over. And it was beautiful.

The Akalak’s free appendage shot out, stiff. It must have hurt him. He had a split second before he let go of the horse and his balance was compromised, and if it were compromised, it would not be in the young man’s favor. He had just a split second. Quickly, with his top left hand, he slashed at the monstrous Akalak with his shortsword, cutting a deep gash in the beast’s lower neck and down into his shoulder, quickly ducking out of the way and to the left as the beast fell to the ground. He had but a split second. Just a split second, no time to spare. The beast wasn’t far away from him, but that wasn’t the issue. He wouldn’t be getting up soon. What Aventis was worried about was his hands. His left arm was incapacitated, its tendons basically shredded by the one sharp blow of Aventis’ shortsword, but its other arm, presumably its dominant one, was free. That can be fixed.

Aventis ran towards the monster, ready to finish it off and escape to safety. That was not what Lhex had intended, for the squire was met once again with the claw of the beast. It had rolled over, using its arm as a gargantuan hammer, knocking Aventis in the stomach and throwing him mid stride. He had to step back a few feet, the force of the blow alone leaving him gasping for air. It took but a moment for him to catch his breath, in which time the massive monster to rise.

That is going to be the worst bruise of my life…

In a split second.

In a split second, the Akalak was attacking again, the giant man’s chest and torso painted with his own blood. The creature, this time, swung its limp arm at him, using it as a wall of meat, following up with his remaining arm on either side of the Eypharian. Aventis had to think fast. Instantly, everything he learned with Ser Utis kicked in. No room for mercy in battle. Use your available weapons in any way you can. Defend yourself before you attack your opponent.

As fast as the Yukmen swung its mighty, muscled arms at his, Aventis’ own upper arms stuck out to catch them. The hands, both of them, sunk deep into the blades of Aventis’ weapons. It had become a battle of strength, the Akalak pushing against Aventis’ outstretched arms. Aventis, once again, didn’t have much time. Upon hitting the blades, the Akalak dropped its jaw, screeching directly into Aventis’ unblinking, unfaltering face. Aventis smiled smugly. He knew it would all be over soon enough, and he would have a brand new trophy to bring home.

“That all you got, Big Blue?” Aventis asked the beast, screaming back in its face as loud as he could.

His arms ached and would give out any second. Quickly, with his lower arms, he grabbed the Akalak’s skull, careful to maneuver his arms far away from the creature’s jaws. The Akalak, confused now, screamed helplessly, its enormous arms still pushing. Aventis bent its head back, ensuring himself safety from a bite, placed his thumbs just above the creature’s eyes. Without further hesitation, the squire pressed his thumbs against the open eyes of the creature, forcing himself to dig deeper and deeper still into the sockets of the poor beast’s skull. Blood, deep red, gushed from its eyes, marking both Aventis’ hands and the blue skin of the beast’s giant head.

The creature screamed a bloodcurdling scream, and Aventis jumped bag, pulling his weapons out of the beast’s hands and jumping back. The giant covered its face with its one good hand, howling in pain and stumbling on its giant legs.

Time to put Beastie out of its misery. Aventis thought to himself, smiling at himself, sure of his own abilities for the first time in a long time. It felt good. Really good.

The beast stumbled back a foot or so, opening an opportunity. Aventis didn’t hesitate.

He ran up to the beast once more, his arm outstretched. It all happened in an instant. The squire, set to kill, put all his force behind his aching arm and stabbed the thing’s forehead with the rapier, a small dot of blood visible on the beast’s wrinkled face just above where his right eye used to be. Aventis didn’t see it happen, his feet pounding the ground and distancing himself from the monster as much as possible, in case it got mad. But it had no opportunity. The blade pierced the beast’s skull, scratching its brain ever so slightly, but scratching it enough. The Akalak was a dead man standing. It wobbled on its legs, taking a moment before falling like a great oak, pounding the ground with its muscled body. As soon as it hit the ground, Aventis turned, incredulous. Slowly, cautiously, he approached the fallen animal. Bloody and tired, Aventis quickly located the promontory that had helped him win the struggle.

His stomach ached as he bent over, slashing into the meat that was the beast, freeing the bloodied rock from its body with his shortsword and retrieving it with one of his lower ones.

“ARCHAILIST.” He yelled, severely hoping he was not alone. Stone in his upper left and his weapons in his lower hands, he stood, hoping, waiting, but fearless at the same time.

“ARCHAILIST. THE REST ARE SAFE. WHERE ARE YOU?”

Yukmen, Yuk!

My Words | Your Words | My Thoughts

This was the moment that mattered. If they could pull all of this off, if they could charge straight through and make it out before the horde closed off the escape and the Alpha descended on them, then they could all make up for the stupid attack they'd tried earlier. He meant it when he said that it was a matter of life and death. One of them was already pretty previously wounded, and it was little short of a miracle that he'd not lost the whole leg. This was the last moment in the world that he wanted to hear excuses, or arguments. "If you have any complaints, save them for when your life is not at stake." He stopped his stride to glare back at Aventis. So much for the idea of following orders without hesitation. For some reason, he had a deep-seated sense that the squire was going to cause him trouble in the future.

He was wrong, though. From his spot on the heads of the larger sections of the horde, he could see quite clearly that the boy was going to be trouble right now. Cameron and Oriana pushed ahead but Aventis held back, shifting their positions and forcing the already-injured Cameron to the front, forced into the brunt of the Yukmen for a second time. They clamoured for his legs and stomach, but the thick shield pressed against his side prevented most of it. Thick rock-like nails still snapped around its edges, struggling to rip the thing from his arm and tearing into the gaps of his armour to pull off small sections of it.

Oriana was even worse. She had nothing to hold back the storm but her horse, whom she gripped tighter than a baby to her mother's teat as they rammed straight through. For a moment, despite the troubles, they seemed to be succeeding... until Aventis was wrenched from his mount. Everything collapsed as quickly as it'd appeared, as the fallen Yukmen swarmed around the back and one managed to nearly climb straight onto the back of Orianas horse. The mount, strong as it may have been, nearly crumpled under the new weight and the squire was pulled back off with the Yukman as it went. In moments, it had her hair locked in a thick fist and sat on her chest, crushing the air from her lungs. "No.. please, no.." she choked.

He almost couldn't watch, as it leaned down close enough for her to smell the thick breath in its fetid mouth. Then, the shining tip of a sword pushed out through the middle of its left eye, ripping the eyeball from its socket in the process, and slid down through the creatures skull until its blood-drenched tip just brushed the girls cheek, leaving a small wound as a memento. As the sword twisted in its skull and dragged the monster away, it revealed Cameron with his jaw clenched, stood on his heavily injured leg despite the pain, holding off another Yukman wrestling for control around his shield. "Get - your - STINKING - HANDS - OFF - MY - POTENTIAL GIRLFRIEND!" he screeched almost as loud as the Yukman, leaning back heavily on the shield and wrenching it away before slamming it against the Yukmans head, dazing it.

Oriana had her battleaxe in both hands in an instant, using one hand to throw Cameron back with a swift shove to the chest while the other wheeled the heavy weapon around to smack straight through another Yukmans cheek, protecting him from muscled arms that threatened to disembowel him. Nice to know that the other two were helping each-other.

Especially considering how close they all were to death. Not even the squirrel could best it, when put up against a thick knot of Yukmen that clawed for him as blindly as swarms of bats in the day. There were simply too many of them, even though he found it best switching constantly between the heads and shoulders of the different Yukmen. They would just keep attacking one-another, slamming and clawing each-other to death while the squirrel weaved around their wrists. One swing came down from above, and he leapt across to the next Yukman along - mid jump, though, a stray hand swung around in an arc and crashed into his side. The squirrel was sent flying through the underbrush, rolling over the ground with limbs flailing comically before he eventually came to a stop. "Shyke...

As Aventis finally felled the Alpha, the others reared around and screeched in a terror-inducing synchronized warble. At least Oriana and Cameron had managed to remount, but the damn squire was still on his feet - no longer faced with one, but several of the other Yukman mercifully held at bay during the attack. If bot for the combined efforts of Archailist, Cameron and Oriana then the one-against-one could have quickly turned into a free-for-all.

He didn't bother answering Aventis' calls. None of the attention was on the other three squires - it now boiled down to their fallen Alpha, and the one multi-armed squire that stood triumphant above his corpse. All of the clay slowly shifted into one fist, both feet braced hard against the floor, and he broke into a full Sprint with the arm reared back. When the first Yukman came within distance, he punched it right in the back of the heel, leaving a sickening crack in the air as support crumbled beneath the creature. He didn't stop, didn't break momentum, but kept moving as he delivered the next punch. And the next. And the next...

Over and over, he cleaned through a line of the creatures. Whenever one looked back, it was always too late to see the squirrel directly below, or shift out of the way. The distraction was all he needed to close the distance and knock them down. By the time he'd reached the front, a clear line of five or six Gilman remained on the floor - not dead, but temporarily incapacitated and unable to stand. He'd opened a decent window for an escape. "Get back on your horse." It was rather funny to think that the others were safe. Cameron looked pale, and could barely sit straight on his horse. Oriana had an arm around him for support, but wasn't looking too well herself with multiple small cuts and bruises over her body. Though the squirrel did his best to avoid showing it in the face of the remaining Yukmen that still threatened to charge them during the escape, everything on the squirrel hurt. It wasn't just a tenderness of a mild bruise, but a deep ache running through to his nexus.

Great thread. It’s nice to see Archailist taking on role requiring leadership (especially watching how people respond to leadership from a squirrel).

Great thread. I liked how Sir Utis suggested that Aventis play dumb (or just plain annoying), though unfortunately there were only a couple of posts that it seemed like Aventis was really doing that.

Also, please note that you cannot dual wield weapons that you don’t have 30 skill points and higher in. In your last post, Aventis was using both his blades at some moments against the yukman. I do not believe he has two rapiers so you must have been referring to his rapier and his shortsword. Since he does not have 30 skill points or more in the shortsword, he cannot use it at the same time as the rapier (two rapiers would have been fine). As such, I did not award any weapon related skills for that post or dual wield for that post.
