Zhol
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
.
Full Name: Zhol Emberwing (DetailsZhol usually does not refer to himself by his full name, as technically the Emberwing pavilion no longer exists, having been burned down in a reimancy accident. Members of the pavilion directly related to Zhol's father migrated to another pavilion, though some (including Zhol's mother) still use the name. Zhol initially abandoned the name during his exile, but began using it once again in 515 AV - partly so that his name would sound less unimpressive by comparison to Brandon Blackwing, and partly so that he could share his name with his beloved Khara.)
Nicknames: Horse boyIn Nari. Usually used as an insult by the Inarta; used as a term of teasing endearment by some others, particularly Khara., VersdaVersda is a Symenos word, meaning 'good brother', often abbreviated to Verda by Drusilla. She uses it to describe both Zhol and Turrin, both of whom she considers to be her brothers., My LethUsed (hesitantly) by Khara, in response to Zhol referring to her as "My Syna". Zhol feels that Khara brightens his day and lights up his life; Khara feels that Zhol brightens her night and watches over her while she sleeps. The two also use other sun/moon related nicknames for each other: Khara calls him her sunset, or moonrise; he calls her sunrise and dawn., More..."Emerald Eyes" - A nickname for Zhol used primarily by his mother, in reference to his green eyes. It is a nickname Zhol remembers fondly, as his eye colour was one of the traits that Zhol shared with his mother.
"Flint" - Used by members of the expedition Zhol travelled with from Alvadas to Wind Reach. A reference to flint and tinder or flint and steel: survival tools used to start a fire. Once the expedition learned of Zhol's reimancy, fire-lighting became his de facto role.
"Endrykas" - Used mostly by Vincent (NPC), a retired hunter and the merchant at the Bulls Eye market stall. Refers to the fact that Zhol is not a Drykas, but still from Endrykas.

Employment: Skyhigh Stables, Horse TrainerZhol is primarily a Horse Trainer, and is paid an Avora wage. He is responsible for breaking in young horses, teaching them to be comfortable wearing tack and a saddle, to respond to rider commands, to perform jumps when instructed, and so on. Zhol also takes responsibility for ensuring that the horses are regularly exercised, and helps with breeding and rearing new horses for the stables as well. He does assist with training new riders (though he is not the most qualified for this), and will often do the beginner lessons before someone more skilled takes over. He also helps train Dek and Chiet in how to handle animals such as mules, if they are required to use them as part of their job.

Appearance
.
Zhol appears average and unremarkable for a human. His skin carries traces of the tan from his youth spent outdoors in Cyphrus, but it has mostly faded during his time in Wind Reach. Very little about his appearance reveals anything about his Drykas heritage: his hair has been cut short, and he had not earned any Windmarks by the time of his exile. His 6' height is tall compared to some races, though not exceptional among the Drykas; he is still shorter than his father, despite his age.
.
His only exceptional feature are his eyes, which are bright, piercing, and green, and always seem to display his emotions regardless of how hard he tries to conceal them. According to the members of his family, Zhol has his mother's eyes.
.
Aside from his hair and height, Zhol can easily be distinguished from an Inarta by his clothing. While at work, he feels that the typical loose-fitting clothes usually worn in Wind Reach are impractical; but even in his private life he prefers to avoid the shirtless fashion of the Inarta, and dresses much as he would have done in Endrykas.

Markings
.
Since the 47th Spring 515, Zhol has had a Chevas mark signifying his marriage to Khara. The Chevas mark is a stylised feather, which looks as if it is formed out of flame, reflecting Khara's Inarta heritage, and Zhol's affinity for fire reimancy. The mark has the metallic look of copper - which echoes the low opinion that both Zhol and Khara have of their personal value - which looks tarnished around the edges, but when it reflects sunlight it picks up a slightly more golden glow, emphasising it's fiery nature.
.
Zhol has a small scar on the inside of his lip where it was split open during a fight with an Endal in the Inclement Weather. The palms of his hands have a few faint burn scars from instances where he wasn't careful enough with his reimancy.
.
He has no gnosis marks, or other noteworthy marks or scars at this time.

.
Character Concept
.
Zhol is seeking redemption, having been "exiled" from his Drykas home and family. He shaved his head as a representation of his lost status and dignity, and has slowly been allowing it to grow back as he regains his honour. Since his lack of skill with magic was the route of his exile, he seeks to hone his skills to prevent such accidents from happening again.
.
He comes across as stoic and sometimes distant at times, not wanting to risk placing anyone in danger by letting them get too close; but he is a deeply empathetic individual who truly cares about the wellbeing of almost everyone (excluding himself), stranger or otherwise, and will go to great lengths to find a way to ease the mental, physical, or emotional suffering of others if he possibly can. He is also incredibly sensitive; certain things will bring him to anger quickly, especially when that anger is in defense of someone he cares about.
.
Merits: amiable, empathetic, loyal, perceptive, protective, selfless.
Flaws: hesitant, hot-tempered, opinionated, self-doubting.
.
.
.
.
Quirks
.
Zhol is left-handed, and favours his left for most things including sword fighting and archery. He refers to himself as "backwards-handed".
.
Particularly at the baths, though also in general, Zhol is uncomfortable with how comfortable the Inarta are being unclothed around each other. Not only is he self-conscious about being seen naked or half dressed himself, he also becomes very uncomfortable in situations where he sees - or could see - others in a similar state. As a result, he usually visits the baths late at night, when they are as deserted as possible.
.
Because he was exiled from Endrykas on his birthday, Zhol not only does not celebrate his birthday but is also does not let anybody know when his birthday is. Currently, not even Khara knows his actual date of birth.
.
Zhol dislikes small, fluttery creatures, especially ones that get close to his face. He has a particularly strong dislike for moths and bats.
