The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

Tel'Mar was concentrating to hard again. The thick piece of wood he'd rigged together that lay against the wall was all he could see in his tunneled vision state. He held his bow out in his left hand, two arrows grasped parallel to the bows wood. His other hand rested on the undrawn string, two arrows held between his thumb and his palm. As he breathed out he flicked one of the forward arrows around, grabbing the rear with his fingers, drawing the bow back while notching the arrow, and releasing it. As the arrow left the bow, he flicked up one of the arrows in his draw hand, its shaft slapping against the bow, he again drew and notched in a single smooth motion, releasing the second arrow in less time than a blink of an eye. However, when he attempted to flick the third arrow from his bow hand, it went to far down. He missed grabbing it, and it fell to the ground.

"Shyke." He let the word escape as a breath more than a word.

He set the bow down on the table next to him, looking at the two arrows sticking out of the board. The heads were buried deep, barely a fingers length apart. The third arrow still lay on the ground, the fourth on the table with the bow. He'd been trying to master this skill all night.

Tel'Mar stood inside the house of his new friend Fen. After a rather interesting evening where he, Fen, and a Inarta woman had a scuffle they had retreated here. The woman had a fit and Tel felt she could use his help. Now she lay on the bed asleep, while Fen had gone to get breakfast. He'd slept by her side in his wolf form, comforting her.

Tel'Mar had barely slept at all. He kept replaying the events of the evening over and over in his mind. He'd missed his target, and a woman, an innocent, took his arrow instead. He'd neglected his surroundings again. He'd concentrated on his target, his prey becoming a deer, and the crowd trees. He was still acting like he was out in the wild, firing arrows carelessly at prey that didn't even know he was there. Now he'd wasted innocent blood because of his inability to adapt his skills to his surroundings. The sound of his arrow striking and her screams now plagued his ears. His hands gripped the side of the table so hard that his knuckles turned white and his skin threatened to break.

Kesu
The night is cold and numbs our hearts as surely as our hands.....

Kesu was curled in a ball on the bed, quite a bit calmer and less frantic. Sleeping peacefully, there was no sign of a frown on her face. The thock of the arrows weren't loud enough to make her wake, but they did make her frown slightly in her sleep.

"Shyke." The curse made her stir, mumbling and turning over. A human voice was always more effective in waking someone up, even without the intensity that the hunter had said it. It was breathed, whispered, yes, but it was such an intense whisper that Kesu groggily awoke, eyes barely cracks.

Rubbing her eyes, and brushing her hair out of the way, she winced, feeling the back of her head. Recalling the events of the evening, Kesu looked up at the Inarta and said in Nari, "Ow. My head feels like someone took a hammer to it." Not angry, unlike earlier today, she inquired quietly of him, "What's your name? And what exactly... happened back there? It's a bit of a haze... I remember the black-haired man fighting, and then... I don't know. But we got away, so I guess... thank you." Glancing at his grip on the chair, she looked up into his face, seeing the pain on it. Confused and slightly worried for both herself and the Inarta, she asked, "What's wrong?"

Postby Fen on February 7th, 2015, 4:08 am

Fen's place is small, it contains a bed, hearth, a small table with two chairs, a window and a door. The bed sat in the corner on the far wall from the door with the window above it, The hearth and table were on the wall left of the door.

The sun was barely beginning to rise and the bowman practiced as he had through the night. He was practicing a technique that can only be described as unconventional. He introduced himself as Tel'Mar with a firm forearm shake the night before. Fen was curled up on the bed next to the girl, he was studying Tel'Mar waiting for him to show signs of improvement. This unconventional technique was strange but it was very clear that it was much more efficient than the traditional bow techniques that Fen was familiar with seeing.

Fen's stomach grumbled and gurgled loudly. Startled he looked to the girl to make sure it didn't wake her. It wasn't long before Tel'Mar suggest he go get some food and Fen agreed. He changed back into a human and made his way to the door where he paused for a moment looking back to the bowman whose focus was back on shooting.

"Don't get too upset, you might wake her." Fen said with a hushed tone and motioned towards the girl curled in a ball on the bed as he left.

Fen made his way through the streets memorizing his route to the market. Again he talked himself through the twists and turns of the streets walking at a slow comfortable pace. He searched through his bag pulling out a few coins. Its a good thing I don't need much He found a man selling some small game and a loaf of bread and purchased what he could before returning home.

"Got some food, Its not much but it'll do I spose." Fen placed the two rabbits and loaf of bread on the table next to the bow. He took his place at the foot of the bed resting his hand on the girls foot.

"What's wrong?" The girl asked Tel'mar, his face a twist of defeat and anger.

"He's been at it all night, with little luck, trying this 'new' form of archery." Fen chuckled to himself. "I don't think we've had the opportunity to meet, I'm Fen." He extended his hand to the girl.

Tel turned toward the woman. She was just waking up, and for a moment he kinda noticed that she wasn't bad looking.

""Ow. My head feels like someone took a hammer to it. What's your name? And what exactly... happened back there? It's a bit of a haze... I remember the black-haired man fighting, and then... I don't know. But we got away, so I guess... thank you." Then her face turned to a look of concern. "What's wrong?" She asked.

Tel'Mar realized he was gripping the chair so hard his knuckles were turning white.

"I'm sorry." He answered in Nari as he relaxed his grip. "I swear I never meant for anything to happen. I was just trying to help." He turned away, almost flinching as he heard the slick 'twap' of the arrow hitting again. He bent over and picked up the stray arrow. "I'm known as Tel'Mar of Wind Reach. You can just call me Tel. It's easier. Might I ask your name, sister?"

At that moment the Kelvic came walking through the door, food in his hands.

Switching to common Tel addressed him "Good to see you found your way this time, friend." As Fen laid down the food on the table Tel'Mar removed his bow and retrieved his arrows, laying them down next to his target. Fen addressed the girl and offered his hand in greeting, much the same way he had the night before when they finally exchanged names after escaping the guard, getting lost in the streets, possibly knocked over a vegetable stand, and eventually getting back here. Tel remembered it well.

...

They had just escaped the guard and were winding through the streets.

"Hold a moment friend. Where are we trying to get to?" The female Inarta was asleep in his arms, clearly overwhelmed from the event. The Kelvic seemed to be trying to find his way back using his nose, but he was still in human form so his sense of smell wasn't as strong as it could have been.

...

Tel looked now at the female on the bed. Did I really help? Did I just do more harm again? Why is it every time I try to improve something I simply ruin it more? And what was he to do now? If a real guard questioned him at length he'd be at the stocks before he could string a bow.

Kesu

Kesu whipped her head around quickly, startled by the Kelvic's sudden appearance. She relaxed at her brother Inarta's non-hostile reaction to him, and nodded at him, smiling. "After what happened, I'd eat just about anything. I'm starving." Grabbing the entire loaf of bread, she ripped off a good-sized chunk of bread, leaving about half of it to split between the two men. Stomach growling, she tore into the half-loaf, and when she was done, she eyed the brace of coneys hungrily, but held herself back. Prob'ly haven't even been cooked yet. Better wait, so I don't toss what I just ate right back up.

The wolf placed his hand on her foot, startling her, but she looked at him with a questioning glance, as if to say, What the petch are you doing? "He's been at it all night, with little luck, trying this 'new' form of archery. I don't think we've had the opportunity to meet, I'm Fen." Taking his hand, she shook it, and said, "Name's Kesu." She looked at the Inarta, quizzically, wondering how this form was any different from all the others, but she kept herself from saying anything. He was probably upset, and it wouldn't do to upset one of her hosts.

"I'm sorry. I swear I never meant for anything to happen. I was just trying to help. I'm known as Tel'Mar of Wind Reach. You can just call me Tel. It's easier. Might I ask your name, sister?" The arrow that he had just shot, accidentally, landed in the crack between the floorboards, and the resulting noise made Kesu jump a little. Speaking Nari in reply, she said, "Like I told Fen, it's Kesu. And I don't know why you're apologizing." Slowly, her mind began to connect the dots. "Wait. What exactly happened in the fight, after the black-haired man jumped in?" There was a gap in Kesu's memory. A gap that held some pretty important information, apparently. "Tel. What happened." Her frown creased her face, and she brushed her hair out of the way, leaning forward, and moving her legs to the side of the bed. Accidentally, she kicked Fen's hand away. Turning to him, she apologized, and asked him as well, in Common this time. "Fen, please tell me. What happened. She seemed almost frantic at this point, as if her memory held some hidden knowledge that was vital to her life.

Kesu

Despite their earlier willingness to help her, now they remained silent, as if they had nothing left to say. Looking away, angrily, Kesu got up, and pulled on her boots. Opening the door, she stomped out, muttering, "Fine. Don't say anything. 'S not like I care." Shivering and looking around, she knew where she was in the city, and started walking through Surya Plaza, to her home. Once she reached her front door, she looked back, thoughtfully. Those two... they had helped her. If she ever saw them again, it would be as friends.
OOCTel'Mar, Fen, if you ever come back, I'm sorry, but I had to end the thread, because you disappeared. But if you do come back, we should thread again. :)
