Goldfinger's Loan Agency

Situated at the southern end of the Gated Community, Goldfinger's Loan Agency is one of the most profitable and infamous businesses in all of Sunberth. First opening its doors seven years ago, the Agency has grown considerably and now has placed a foothold in many independent and gang-operated businesses, making Goldfinger an extremely influential player in Sunberthian politics. Almost everyone in the city knows his name and fearsome reputation as a ruthless creditor, the terrible threat of retribution looming large over any individual in debt that hopes to skip town. It is unclear just how many people owe Goldfinger money, but there is never any doubt when someone tries to back out of a deal; without exception, Goldfinger has hunted them down with a small army of trained mercenaries, brought them back kicking and screaming to his Agency, and exacted public revenge upon them. No one is beyond reproach, and no place is far enough to escape Goldfinger's reach. There is a common joke on the streets that, "In Kenash they might slip a collar around your neck... Goldfinger gets yours in writing."

The Loan Agency itself is an unassuming building, a stone residence with only a single door. Past this door is a small waiting room with a receptionist at the front desk, patiently filing records and arranging for meetings with Goldfinger. Upon arriving, the receptionist will ask the applicant's business and then request that they wait for their appointment, for Goldfinger is always extremely busy. Waiting for an audience can take bells or even days. Once the appointment time has arrived, the receptionist will escort the applicant to Goldfinger's office at the back of the building, passing by several locked doors in the process. No one knows what is contained in these rooms, save for Goldfinger... it a secret highly sought after by many.

Additional Info: Goldfinger's background is entirely unknown to most Sunberthians, and popular legend has spun many different versions of his tale. The only known facts are that he first arrived in the city seven years ago with nothing to his name and no possessions save for the clothes on his back. In just a few seasons after he entered the city, he became a prominent figure in the Sunset Quarter, running the now-defunct Whistling Blades gang. For two years the Whistling Blades gang made a killing doing mercenary work all throughout the city, but eventually ran afoul of a nasty contract and ended up dead to a man... Except for Goldfinger. Relocating to the Gated Community, he opened up the Loan Agency little more than a year after the gang's dispersion, and has been running the business ever since. Handsome, clever, and opportunistic to a fault, Goldfinger always knows the best way to work out a deal to suit his unknown ends.

BUSINESS LOANS

Goldfinger's Loan Agency specializes in providing the initial funding for new businesses in the city. The Agency will go above and beyond to provide new businesses with the infrastructure they need to get started - in fact, Goldfinger encourages people to start out well beyond their means! - but always tackles a hefty interest rate to the loan. For every season that the loan goes unpaid, starting after the season in which the loan was originally taken out, interest climbs up by 5%, or 20% annually. Goldfinger is willing to wait for as long as needed for the business owner to acquire the funds necessary to pay him back, but will react violently if his debtor attempts to leave the city or ignore the deal. In special cases, Goldfinger is willing to waive the standard loan arrangement and instead extract "favours" from the business owner, the specifics of which are dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
