We're Going To Need Boats
Winter 88th 514 AV; 12th Bell
Location: Zeltiva's Bay
The word had been spread like wildfire to every able-bodied man that considered hooks and nets his trade, the ice caps had finally given way and shattered apart to allow fishing to commence once more. Now every fisherman with any right sense in his mind knew the opportunity stood at hand, and already quite a number of boats big and small decorated the waters of Mathew's Bay within the city. Ricky of course stayed within city limits seeing as how his own boat, provided from the Sailor's Guild itself, wasn't necessarily equipped for the larger body of water like the others. This didn't sway him however from the well sought out hot spots where fish were likely to be found, thus with a carefully placed next and several empty baskets ready to be filled in the back of his rowboat as he stood tall and proud. The hunger made his limbs feel weak but he didn't have to worry about that much longer now, he was after all going to be hauling all the fish he could imagine before the day would pass.
The air of course still felt frozen from winter but not even the cold could dim the motivated fire that sparked in his chest, after a long season with almost no food to have now had to be the perfect time for the ice to finally break apart. We'll be eatin' damn good t'night! The thought rang in his head whilst he finished the knotted rope for the net, he didn't waste time in his decision to toss the net in the spot he picked. Once that had been hurled over into the water and he had given it enough rope to sink down some, he then proceeded to reach for the fishing rod he brought along and prepped the line. He took the lure he intended to use first and fed enough twine to tie it while enough remained for the hook, the line then slid through eye of it until nearly what looked two inches worth of twine had been fed through. From there he followed the same steps he always used as before, wrapped the line around itself above the eye four times, and then he pulled the rest of the line through the loop he'd created with the twine.
Next with the twine placed between his lips to lubricate the knots with saliva, he then finished those knots and eagerly twirled his rod around to get a natural feel of it. Satisfied that he'd prepped his weapon of choice the fisherman then cast his line out, watched with a grin as the hook and lure soared far out into the air before it dipped into the waters beneath. Finally with his tools prepared the time to bring home a large haul wasn't too far away, he could already taste the cooked meat now just by thinking about it.
