Lorden wasn't so concerned this time, when a look of surprise crossed Asen's face. The woman had no way of knowing, that he had skirted around the truth when had spoke on not having a Squire.

Girl just has an active face, Lorden thought to himself, as his casually attentive eyes watched, as Asen's lips began to form words from within the depths of her mouth.

The knight's face lite up a bit further.

"Sessaschenaasen. You can just say Asen, if y'need to. I've been down to the Grounds before, to answer your question. Last time was around the seventieth. Before that was when I got my jaw broken. You wouldn't happen to know Aventis, would ya? Really tall, not exactly pretty but not ugly either?," the woman said. Lorden watched amused, as Asen seemed to exaggerate her words with her hands.

Cute, the man mused a bit to himself, his hear skipping a beat, as he did.

"Is it alright if I just call you Lorden?," the blonde continued, causing Lorden's eyes to glow, with a momentary flash of pleased surprise.

"Alright 'Asen', I'd love to be on a first name basis with you...," he said trailing his voice off, as he attempted to formulate an endearing response, to the part of her statement that doubled as a question.

Perfect, Lorden thought, as the image of Asen mocking him earlier, shot into his mind.

"As for yer' 'not exactly pretty' friend," Lorden made air quotes, around the words 'not exactly pretty', as he spoke with a smile.

"I'm afraid I don't know him. Then again I'm not surprised; I don't do much shopping around for the guys, if ye' know what I mean," the twenty-year old said with a laugh, as his hands sunk back beneath the warm waves palm-first.

The knight looked away from Asen, and splashed his face with water; he only looked back up eagerly, when she continued to prod him.

"How old are you, anyways? You look pretty young to be a knight, for a human. Are you a human?," she asked, causing the man she was addressing, to raise one his thin black eyebrows.

"I'm only twenty Asen. I guess you could say I'm young; I was knighted about two years ago, so...," he said, trailing his voice off, as he pondered the other half of her surprising inquisition.

"As for being human, I don't quite know what else I could be," he offered, with another chuckle.

With a thought, the knight framed a exaggerated look of curiosity.

"Are you human? I hope yer' not some kind of monster in disguise!," he asked with feigned worry. The knight gently batted his right hand against the woman's bare shoulder heartily, as if to reinforce his jest.

As his chest beat, at the touching of the girl's unclothed skin, Lorden's mind drifted back to his all but ignored attempt, at setting up another meeting with the blonde, who floated before him.

"But in all seriousness, if yer' planning on going to the grounds again soon... Well, I'd be happy to show you a thing or two?," the knight phrased the statement as a question; and even with what meager amount of natural charisma Lorden possessed, a bit of nervousness could still be picked out from his voice, as he spoke.

Asen's words had an effect on the knight, and one that she liked. The way Lorden spoke seemed as though he was inviting a closer, more intimate relationship with her. She wasn't sure if she actually wanted such a relationship, however. She wasn't sure if she was ready for one.

The half-Dhani supposed it was a good thing the knight didn't know Aventis. With a smile and a small laugh she nodded at his words, the four-armed Eypharian pushed away in a stream of thoughts.

"Sweet gods, only twenty? I thought squires had to train for years before they got knighted. Were you part of a family or somethin'?" she questioned before he continued.

The overly curious look Lorden held on his face made her smile again. "I'm half human, actually. My da was a Dhani, and I inherited 'is longevity. I'm fifty-six years old, but I look about third o' my age."

The girl let her gaze fall back to the water just as her companion's hand brushed against her shoulder. Her eyes flicked up to his face, her own becoming flushed -- and it wasn't from the steam. She felt her heart stutter for a moment, then return to its normal pattern.

She cleared her throat, nodding vigorously. "'Course, yeah. I'd like that. I need some help with sparrin'. I en't that good at fightin' fair. Never had much choice when I was little, 'cause it was usually a bunch o' guys tryin' to pick on me. Still, I did my best, eh?" she said. The half-Dhani had noticed a slight shaking in Lorden's speech, as if he were nervous. He was a knight, for Siku's sake. He wasn't supposed to be nervous!

Unless he's insinuatin' somethin'. Still, he's a knight! You can't petch a knight, girl. It'll take longer for you to get to knight'ood yerself. No petchin' knights! No!

Lorden's heart pounded a bit with a mix of trepidation, curiosity, and pride, as Asen seemed all but blown away by the relaying of his age. However, it was the next words, that slipped past her delicate lips, that made the knight's chest twist in confusion.

"I'm half human, actually. My da was a Dhani, and I inherited 'is longevity. I'm fifty-six years old, but I look about third o' my age," Asen offered, as if it was nothing.

Fifty-six years... Cyrus is younger than her, the thought burst into his mind quickly; Lorden couldn't help but compare Asen to his old patron, as his head and heart, fought over what to make of the new revelation.

Conflicted feelings aside, Lorden smiled almost involuntarily, as his touch reddened the face of his companion.

She doesn't act like an old woman. But five decades... I'll be damned to Hai, the knight attempted to do the math, that would tell him the difference between their ages, in his head, as the woman's blue eyes met his own similarly colored orbs. His confused heart sputtered once more.

"Course, yeah. I'd like that. I need some help with sparrin'. I en't that good at fightin' fair. Never had much choice when I was little, 'cause it was usually a bunch o' guys tryin' to pick on me. Still, I did my best, eh,?" Asen offered up, in a nervous manner; her manner and words, kept his face from faltering, all of his drudged up feelings aside.

Petch it, Lorden thought, as he cleared his throat silently, and consciously flooded saliva into his drying mouth.

"It's a date then, definitely. I can't rightly let those 'guys' be picking on you again, can I?," the knight said, as his voice stabilized. Lorden squeezed the girl's arm softly, before less-than-eagerly allowing his dominate hand to slink back under the water, to his side.

Lorden took a breath, and let his eyes do another silent one-over of Asen.

"When do you have the time? The pit has some swords, I'm sure I can help you when it comes to those," he prodded and offered, refraining from mentioning that he would be in the small courtyard tomorrow, if she would simply show up as well. Couldn't have the girl thinking he was too eager... right?

[Sacred Arch Hotsprings] To Warm the Blood

A date! The halfblood almost squealed in excitement. Her imagination ran rampant, conjuring up all sorts of images of the two.

Pull yourself together! You are not petching a knight! she told herself. She would probably get in trouble, and that was even if Lorden was interested.

Except he is? He called it a date... Asen went ahead and decided that he was probably interested. That is, if the gentle squeeze he gave her arm was anything to go by. It sent another flush up into her face, making it even redder.

The squire had half a mind to reach after his hand and pull him close, but the other half of her mind said it was probably the worst idea in Syliras. She kept reminding herself that Lorden was a knight, despite his youth.

"Um, I'm not sure. New year's coming soon, so... Maybe after that? The second?" she said, her gaze drifting downwards. The half-Dhani forced her eyes back to Lorden's face.

"Does that sound good to you?" At least the whole once-over wasn't one-sided. The knight had done the same just ticks before. She noticed she had started to lean forwards a bit and sat back. It wasn't just the water that was hot, no ser.

Lorden's heart wasn't just skipping as Asen spoke, it was petching fluttering around, and doing summersaults in his chest.

"Um, I'm not sure. New year's coming soon, so... Maybe after that? The second?," the blonde women said, before looking up shyly.

"Does that sound good to you?," Asen prodded. Lorden's smiled almost involuntarily, and only through much restraint, did he refrain from spreading said look of mirth, across his entire face.

Does it sound good? Of course it does!, he thought to himself coyly.

Though, I can't tell her that, the knight mused manipulatively. The girl might like him, but he couldn't make things too easy; not until he knew it was a mutual interest.

"The second? I think that just might work," Lorden admitted, as calmly and coolly, as he could manage under such circumstances.

"You know Asen, I'm glad yer' up for it. We're going to have some fun," he promised, as he leaned back into the water.

The knight was sure he could teach the young-old Squire something, especially if she 'wasn't that good at fighting fair', as she had said. Well, he wouldn't really change that up too much, fairness could get you killed. Still, 'fair fighting' included a lot of disciplines, those disciplines offered quite a bit, even in a fight that might turn out to be less-than-civil. To top off the good deed, of helping another develop in the Order, he might just get a new friend out of the whole deal; maybe even something more.

The knight smiled at his thought process, as the warm waters embraced his firm form.

NoteShort I know, but this tends to be the case with my ending posts. Plus, I'm half asleep. ^.^. Feel free to post one final reply, or simple pm me for further plots. I think we have this pretty wrapped up as is, so this will be my final post. Thanks for the wonderful thread; it helped me really work out Lor's personality, and was just good fun in general.

For half a tick Asen was terribly afraid that she'd said something wrong, or that Lorden would say no, despite him being the one to suggest meeting up another time. She thought her heart would give out then and there from the anticipation.

Thankfully, it did not. It would've been an awkward situation for both of them if the squire simply fainted. Still, Lorden accepted the date, and the way he said 'fun' made her imagination run wild again. Or was it just her? He'd said it calmly and simply, and yet...

And yet he's a knight, you idiot. There is no way you're gonna be able to do anything aside from sparring, so stop dreamin'. He is completely and totally off-limits to the likes of you, the girl scolded.

No harm in just looking though, right? She allowed her eyes to roam over what was visible of Lorden's toned body, then rested the back of her head against the edge of the springs. The blush was still clear on her face, even amidst the steam.

Probably thinks I'm some sort of strange creature, since I'm so old compared to him. What is it, almost a forty year difference? Thanks, Da. Thanks.

As you know, I'm a huge fan of Lorden and Asen. And this thread is definitely no exception. I loved seeing Asen's internal turmoil between wanting to be flirty but being afraid to go too far with someone she thinks is off-limits. A very good thread.
