A Question of Fertility

Postby Asen on March 15th, 2015, 6:04 am

Exactly how fertile are mixed bloods with Dhani ancestry? It takes a male Dhani to impregnate a (human) woman, and female Dhani can only become pregnant through male Dhani. Would the halfbreed inherit the Dhani fertility (fairly infertile) or human fertility (more or less fertile)?

Would it be a mix of the two? Or would the child be sterile? On a broader scale, are all mixed bloods infertile or do they have average fertility?

A Question of Fertility

I think you misunderstood that a bit. Dhani are not inherently infertile. The reason it requires a male Dhani to impregnate a female Dhani is a biological compatibility issue, not a fertility problem.

Dhani are born as snakes, and so only a male Dhani has the "right stuff" to fertilize a female Dhani, and to produce Dhani hatchlings, which are born as snakes, i.e. reptiles. This is also why a female Dhani must be in dhani or snake form to give birth, since they then have the correct "reptile stuff" to birth their clutch.

A male Dhani then could knock up a female of another race, in this case a human, just as easily as a human male could. And their children would then be no more or less fertile than a normal human for being half Dhani.
Bones is a Constrictor Dhani. He likes to eat meat. He also has some speech problems.

When he speaks, a double s (ss) means a [th] sound, that he cannot say.

A triple s (sss) means just an [s], but it is extended in his speech.

Alright, thank you. I worded it wrong in the first post, but you answered my question anyways. Thanks!
