The range of emotions that passed over Lorden's face were difficult to identify. The general feeling that came from him, however, was anger. It was surprising for the Riverfall-born Asen, who was used to seeing pregnant women and hearing about Akalaks and the importance of children to them.
The expression on the squire's face slowly changed to that of confusion. 'E looks surprised. 'As 'e not ever 'eard of the way Riverfall works? En't any Akalak women, so they need others to have their babies.
She frowned at Lorden's sad smile. It seemed sad, at least. He'd gone through so many emotions it was difficult to tell. The half-Dhani's frown disappeared when the knight began complementing her. "Wha- Thank you? I s'pose? Kinda... Kinda sudden, but thanks all the same."
Asen looked at her mug of beer and contemplated taking another sip. She figured it couldn't still be that bad, could it? Her fingers wrapped around the handle of the mug and lifted it to her lips, letting the liquid pour down her throat. Her face screwed up at the taste and she almost slammed the mug back down.
"Okay, yeah. No. That's gross. That's really gross. I don't know why I decided it would be a good idea to try an' drink that again," she said, placing her forehead on the table.
After a few moments of recovery she sat up with a mischievous grin and grabbed the sides of her chair, sliding it around to beside Lorden. She leaned forwards and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, sliding back around to her side of the table.
