Kaveh of the Tatsuwaat "Face your life, its pain, its pleasure, leave no path untaken." "My mission in life is not merely to survive..." 001. Appearance DoB: 53rd of Summer, 494 Race: Chaktawe Gender: Male Profession: Healer at Alements Fluent: Common Poor: Tawna Basic: Tukant Birthplace: Riverfall Location: Riverfall Kaveh stands a height of 6", short by Akalak standards but taller than most of his race. Much like the other Chaktawe, his most striking feature are a pair of small eyes of inky black hidden by dark, thick brows. A second, translucent eyelid and thick, long lashes serve to keep sand and dust from the eye. His cheekbones are high and a bit wide, with thick lips surrounded by light stubble. He avoids shaving too often as it irritates his skin, adding noticeable redness to his already red-brown skin. Upon closer inspection of his hands, one could may be able to see small dots on his finger tips that allow Kaveh to sense movement through the air. His frame is average size, with few, lean muscles due to infrequent training. In general, Kaveh would be considered exotic-looking and attractive to most who lean toward that preference. "...but to thrive; and to do so with some passion..." 002. Personality Likes: Women, children, animals, winning, challenges, drinking, smoking, family, the big picture, freedom Dislikes: Rigidity, rules, waiting, being ignored, being disappointed, details, confinement Ethics: (WIP) Kaveh is wild, impulsive and assertive, uninhibited in the way he expresses himself. There are of course two sides to this coin, allowing him to be outspoken but also allowing the tendency to be garrulous and at times, facetious. He is luckily quite tractable should you be a darker skinned woman, Dhani, child or animal. Despite his somewhat hedonistic attitude, the Chaktawe is creative and enjoys learning, determined should he find the motivation to pursue a goal. His most positive trait is likely his caring attitude, though most would find him more rude and inappropriate than sensitive. Friends know of his understanding and appreciative attitude, having personally witness his generous support of their pursuits. However, due to this sensitivity, Kaveh finds it hard to forgive and tends toward scornful behaviour should he be wronged. Typically he can be found either at Alements working as a healer, at any large social event, or relaxing with his friends at the Coils Club and The Velvet Curtain, smoking tobacco. The latter particularly as many of his female friends are the working prostitutes there. He can be flirtatious when the mood strikes him, which when combined with his striking appearance and at times reckless behaviour, has nearly gotten him in trouble with an Akalak husband in the past. "...some compassion, some humor, and some style." 003. History Khasan and Kahina, Kaveh's parents, were both born into the Tatsuwaat tribe. In their youth they rarely interacted, only knowing each other as one in the tribe would know another. It was not until the searching ceremony of Kahina's sister that the two learned more about each other. In preparation, the most beautiful daughters and the strongest son of the tribe were to learn a sacred dance depicting Eywaat's creation of the Keerdash grove, where the nomadic Tatsuwaat sometimes called home. This dance spoke of the god's persistence against the desert and how he managed to persuade Makutsi to gift him a spring in order to please his beloved. Kahina played Makutsi and Khasan Eywaat, but playful as Khasan was, he managed to not only coax Kahina to become more trusting of him but also, inadvertently, her heart. Much like Kaveh in both personality and looks, Khasan was also used to the attention from other females and thought little of the affection he won. In fact, Kahina was not the only one to be enraptured by the Chaktawe, but only she pursued him. Whether it was appearing as the beautiful goddess during the ceremony, being near and helpful to him during the hunt or simply acting as a friend. True to her stubbornness, it was only a matter of time before Khasan fell for the charismatic Chaktawe. Strong and fast as Khasan was, he did not find the hunt enjoyable, preferring business oriented jobs instead. He made use of his intelligence in trading with Rivarians, be it in acquiring the goods or coordinating the trades. On some of these trips, Kahina would accompany him as an assistant, and it was during their stay in Riverfall that their son was conceived. Details of what followed between then and his birth remains a mystery to Kaveh, for his mother does not speak of it. He can glean no emotion from the disciplined woman and thus, can offer no theory. Either way, Khasan remains unmet for Kaveh was born into a family of his mother, his Akalak step-father, Argar and step-brother Emem/Ime. Kaveh was a quiet child, very easy to take care of in general but quite sensitive to the moods of others. He would be happy if the atmosphere was happy, but also cry immediately should he witness any signs of sadness. Nonetheless he was a great child, curious about the world without being too reckless about attaining knowledge, rarely getting the way of others. His brother was a handful, mischievous and a lover of pranks. Unfortunately, Kaveh was often dominated by his larger, older sibling. Sometimes the jokes were too much, turning into torment which would in turn, affect the sensitive Chaktawe greatly. Even now, Kaveh holds a small grudge against Emem for a particularly harsh prank he pulled. In his teenage years, Kaveh fell into the attention of one Dhani, Ssesvryis. Though it is not common for Dhani to find other races attractive, Ssesvryis did when it came to the Chaktawe. She was the one who introduced him to a more hedonistic lifestyle, breaking him free from his reserved shell, becoming one of his greatest influences at this time of his life. For instance, they would often visit the Velvet Curtain where both would be entertained by one or more of the workers at a time, their room often heavy with tobacco smoke. So much time was spent here that Kaveh was able to befriend a large portion of the girls, including Jasna. The two connected instantly, both a bit too chatty for others' tastes, a bit too wild and cared a bit too much. Their friendship deepened over the years, but it was not until Emem first came to the Velvet Curtain that he realized there was more to it. Emem was serviced by Jasna, to that Kaveh had no problem, but when she mentioned her interest in his brother that his jealousy grew. Already, Emem was favoured by his step-father, if not also his mother, strong and disciplined as he were. Now, even his closest friend finds his company preferable to Kaveh, taking away one of the few things that he thought belonged to him. Yet Jasna never belonged to him, because she was never his, as much as he realized he wished all along. Months were spent with this revelation, his worry and fear hindering his actions. The two were truly in sync, for when he did finally muster the courage to test their friendship with the truth, Jasna did as well. She was with child, and duty bound to turn herself to the Oathmaster and carry the baby to term. Though she was offered sterilization, Jasna's love for children and desire for a family compelled her reject the offer. Despite the fact that she was a human, her chances of surviving the birth were not good. Naturally, Kaveh could only think of comforting Jasna, swallowing his words as he embraced her smaller frame. Despite her circumstances, Jasna remained strong, coming to terms with the dangers in quick time. Kaveh however, was quietly devastated, finding himself weak and worthless. Unable to live up to the Akalak standard, to Chaktawe standards, and now not even to Jasna's standard of strength. The thought of her death loomed over him, polluting his thoughts, so much so that he could not bear to be in her company for some time after. Confused, Jasna assumed the worst and felt betrayed by Kaveh. Though they have tried to repair their friendship, to this day, it has not returned to what it was. During this time, Argar did try to step in and pull his step-son from the clutches of pleasure, forcing him to learn from him. Months were spent teaching Kaveh the basics of medicine and philtering, though his son, creative as he is, tried to use philtering to create his own hangover cures and other self-beneficial potions. The Akalak tolerated this to some extent, finding that some interest was better than none. As much as Kaveh tried to use these skills for his own use, he hated the lessons and work. It was not until he was given some freedom in his job as apprentice healer that he found that he did enjoy taking care of others. Perhaps it appealed to his deep love for living beings in general, for despite his at times vengeful thoughts, Kaveh could never truly despise another. Realizing that it was his father's strict instruction and controlling attitude that made the job less enjoyable, Kaveh seeked an employment opportunity elsewhere. |
