Opening the door to the tavern, Avanze slipped his giant blue body inside, glancing around. He gave a deep breath, allowing his nose the joy of smelling the cooking. He watched the patrons around the establishment chatter away, with less stares then he used to bring. They'd gotten somewhat accustomed to him and his giant blue stature, and for that, he was grateful. A lot less problems for him to deal with. Etnava, on the other hand, had rather liked the stares and whispers, attempting to get Avanze to yell at them or growl or something, but to no avail. He was silent right now, as he and Avanze had had a rather big argument on something rather trivial before they got here, a discussion on whether women liked the way Avanze or Etnava acted. Obviously, they weren't going to try it, as Etnava acted rather.... Rough when around the opposite sex. Well, he acted rough around everyone, but the roughness towards women was always uncalled for and unneeded, and usually got them kicked out of a place.

Sauntering to the bar, his body relaxed, but his face showing hints of boredom now and then, Avanze sat, making the stool groan under his weight a bit. He nodded to a barmaid as she held up a finger, telling him she'll get to him in a tick. Crossing his arms on the bar, Avanze looked around at the other people that had arrived this evening. A lot of them he had seen before, most only in this place and not roaming about the fortress of peace.

As the Carmen Mistra approached, Avanze pulled his coin purse from his pocket, setting it in front of him where he could keep an eye on it. Addressing her in his broken Common, Avanze said, "Hail, Carmen. Can you get big cup beer? Really big cup, yes. Four silver pieces, that dark one." Carmen nodded to him, going to fetch his gallon of beer. As she came back, there was a slight frown on her face; he'd come over quite a bit as he learned the layout of Syliras, but this was the first time he had ever wanted a beer. Of course, no one knew if he had ever drunk more than ale at Riverfall except himself and anyone he knew at his homeland, though everyone back home knew he hadn't ever drunk before.

His order was actually a bet made on Etnava's part. If Avanze was able to chug an entire gallon of beer by himself, he promised to be silent for the duration of spring, except when Avanze asked, which wouldn't be often. Of course, because of Etnava's sly nature, he wouldn't keep to the bet; he merely wanted to feel the sensation of getting drunk and conking out. He didn't even think of it; the way he acted was wholly his personality, obviously, and things of this nature didn't need any thought. It was just how the dark Other operated.

Setting the beer in front of him, Carmen walked off, going to answer the summons of another customer. Avanze looked at the dark brew, the liquid sloshing about in the tankard. He'd forgotten to ask for a mug. Just quaff the thing, wuss. It won't kill you. Actually, Etnava nor Avanze didn't know it would kill him. Though, they were mildly sure it wouldn't. They'd seen other people drink it like water, though they had gotten obviously drunk after.

He waited for Carmen to return, who had been watching him curiously. "Me needs small cup, to drink from, yes." Nodding, she brought him one, continuing on.

Tipping the thing over a little, he poured his cup to the brim, sniffing at the stuff. He brought it up to his lips, a frown forming upon his face.

"Here goes, Etnava. I hope you are happy. That deal was too good to miss." Tipping the mug back, he drained the first cup, swallowing it with a funny expression on his face.

Alexander Ross

The Rearing Stallion. The perfect place for civilians and knights alike to lounge about, drink and socialize with each other. Of course, for Alexander, it was the perfect place to watch and observe from an isolated table. More than once, a drunken brawl had called upon his attention. And considering he rearly wears his armor while in the tavern, the brawlers would question whether or not the boy was actually a squire whenever he would intervene. Of course, a few well-aimed threats would be enough to lessen the tension... sometimes, but if the worst came to be, he would just call upon the knights himself and they would clear the problem up. Despite the loud crowds and silly drunken leers, he found the place quite entertaining during the late hours. Mainly, he found it a bit interesting to see how people acted when there was no figure of authority around... or so they thought.

Taking a deep breath, he exhaled heavily and rolled his shoulders. Just like every day, he was exhausted and wanted nothing more than to relax, and he hoped that there would not be too much excitement in the bar tonight. He slumped down in the chair he was sitting in, but the soft thump of his sword hitting the floor startled him a bit, and he sat back up. Jumpy bastard... He thought to himself with a low chuckle. And to think, it was nearly impossible for someone to actually succeed in startling him. Luckily, there were not too many in the room at the moment, and those who were seemed not to have noticed. He was thankful for this little bit of luck, considering that he would probably die of embarrassment if someone were to laugh and make such a big deal out of it.

His eyes glanced toward the doorway when a fairly tall Akalak lumbered in, seeming to barely get through the doorway without bumping his head. The boy watched as the blue giant walked over to the bar and, speaking somewhat in a broken form of Common, ordered a gallon of beer. Alex rolled his eyes. He honestly had no idea what it was about beer that people liked so much. Of course, he had been drunk once before in his youth when his stepfather was not around to scold him, but he had never touched alcohol since then... especially considering the after effects. The boy's judgement soon changed when he noticed the funny look on the Akalak's face after he had drained the first cup, and he immediately realized that this may very well be the first time the man has ever had a drink of alcohol in his life. Suddenly realizing that he was staring, Alex glanced away, tapping his index finger on the sheath of his sword.

Asen heaved against the door to The Rearing Stallion, leaning her meager weight on it. She slid through the narrow opening and let it close behind her, inhaling the scent of alcohol and cooking food. She was just about to head to the bar when she took stock of the room, noticing the massive blue Akalak. Her eyes narrowed dangerously and she clenched her hands into fists.

The half-Dhani straightened her spine, putting her shoulders back and striding towards the counter. Luckily another squire was there, an Alexander Ross. Only recently she'd met him, but he was a better drinking companion than Avanze. She plunked herself down beside Alexander, lifting a hand briefly to summon the waitress.

"A mug o' ale, please." The mug was delivered, as was payment for it. She thanked the woman, taking a sip. It wasn't so awful, but it wasn't good, either.

The blonde looked at Alexander, nudging him with her foot. "Hey. Saw you a little while ago. Last week, yeah?" she asked, "Kind o' awkward, wasn't it?"

Of course she was just distracting herself from the big blue body on the other side of her fellow squire. The same body that she'd had major conflict with earlier in the season, and that she had -- at first -- enjoyed the company of. Unfortunately, the experience had soured quickly once the darker brother had come out of hiding and taken control, only to surrender dominance to Avanze when a few harsh words were thrown at him.

Asen reached up to hold the pendant around her neck, the silver formed in the shape of the tree of the Order. It was warm from the heat of her skin and smooth to the touch. She lifted it to her mouth, gently holding the branches between her teeth.

After a few moments she let it drop, resting her elbow on the counter and propping her head up with the hand. She watched Alexander, carefully avoiding looking at the Akalak. She wanted nothing to do with him, not yet at least. He had yet to actually make it up to her.

Avanze coughed again, gagging on the beer slightly. The taste was quite awful; the smell wasn't much better. He pondered whether he really wanted to finish the entire thing. Honestly, he didn't really have to. The only draw, though, was that he must walk a good bit around Syliras stark naked, which he wasn't very much concerned about. He was quite comfortable with his physical form, and didn't care much who else saw him, but then the thoughts of the Knights entered his mind. They would not like a Squire to walk around naked. Neither would Naka for that matter..... Ugh, what to do, what to do. Face the wrath of the Order and Naka..... Or down this disgusting drink..... One would get me drunk and smell bad like all the other drunk-o's around, the other would get me in lots of trouble.... He pondered, hating the fact that Etnava was loving every second of his pain, however slight it was. Oh, do decide, brother. I can't wait to see what happens. So much fun.... Sending an evil mental grin at Avanze, the dark brother pulled himself away from feeling anything, other than peering through the eyes of his light brother and occasionally poking at his thoughts.

Turning in his stool lightly to lean on the bar, Avanze looked about the tavern, slowly bringing his mug of beer to his lips. Just as he was about to drink from it, she walked in. Asen. His mind wandered a little to that point earlier in the season when he had met her, remembering the fun they had had.... Until his Other had ruined it. Kind of speared it in the head, really. Utterly destroyed whatever friendship they had.

He turned in his seat, acting as if he had never laid his eyes upon her as she entered. He turned his head only slightly, glancing back at her, hoping she wasn't watching him. He watched as she walked over and sat next to another Squire, Alexander Ross, and order a mug of something. He wondered what he should do..... He could go over, try to talk to her a bit.... Or just sit here, and finish drinking his beer.... Petch this stuff.... Etnava, I'll drink it later.... Or... He stood up, moving the stool back with a screech of wood. He picked up his mug, picked up the jug and walked over, his eyes on Asen, though occasionally flicking to Alex.

"Mind if I sit here?" The question was sent mostly to Asen, though he did occasionally glance at the male Squire, as if also asking him, too.

Alexander Ross

Alexander glanced up as a more familiar-looking woman walked into the tavern and sat at his table, ordering a mug of ale. He immediately recognized the woman as Asen, who he had met a about a week prior to today. Had anyone else decided to sit with him - more namely someone he did not know well - he most likely would have awkwardly excused himself. But in this case, he could make an acception. Despite the awkwardness of their last meeting, He found the half-Dhani to be better company than his own maze of daydreams.

He flinched a bit when she nudged his foot. "Y-yeah, I believe so." He replied, recalling how strange things had gotten. "Pretty awkward indeed." He pulled off his glasses and gently wiped them on his shirt, before pushing them back up the bridge of his nose. "I can't really say I blame anyone, though. We all have those crazy moments where the night air makes us do stupid things..." Of course, even with how well he functioned at night, he could not recall ever letting it get to him in such a way.

By the way Asen held her pendant between her teeth, it was obvious that she was nervous about something. But what that was, Alex could not name. His thoughts were interrupted when the Akalak he had been watching earlier suddenly appeared next to them, asking if he could sit. It was then that Alex recognized him. "Oh, hey Avanze!" He remembered that the Akalak had showed up at his birthday party a little more than a week ago. Not even waiting for Asen's consent, he scooted his chair over to make way for the blue giant. "No, not at all. How have you been? What brings you here?" Normally, he was not this social, but deep in the back of his mind, he regretted his previous thoughts he had while watching Avanze chugging a cup of beer.

Asen noticed that Alexander had a curious little tic. He had glasses, for one. What squire wore glasses? All that glass would just shatter if he got punched in the face. She squinted at him. Perhaps she'd show him why they were a bad idea later. Or maybe soon, depending on how the night went.

For two, he took his glasses of and polished them. With his shirt. She had half a mind to dump her ale on him, show him that glasses were ridiculous things that didn't need polishing. They definitely didn't need polishing when she was out and about.

She took a sip of her ale, struggling to hold her resolve as the taste flooded her mouth. The half-Dhani nearly gagged, but swallowed with as straight a face as she could muster. "Pshaw, it wasn't that awkward. Leastways, not for me. You seem a bit of a prude, dontcha?" she chuckled.

She was about to take another stoic sip of her drink until Avanze asked if he could sit between them. Her gaze hardened and she clenched her jaw, feeling her nose flare just a bit and her mouth flatten into a stern line. She shot a deadly glare at Alexander, one that promised a good punch to the face later.

The squire turned back to Avanze, leaning against the counter and 'manspreading' -- spreading your legs to take up more room and appear bigger. She stared up at him, giving him a stony look. "No, you petchin' can't sit 'ere," she told him with a growl. Her eyes shone viciously, mirroring the traits of a sword: cold and sharp.

"You can go sit down where you were sittin', that's what you can do," she snarled, turning to Alexander, "An' you. Don't answer for me."

She practically snapped at the poor guy, two chips of ice glittering in the place of her eyes. The blonde took a massive swig of her ale, pursing her lips in distaste. Before Avanze could even think of sitting beside her, he'd have to prove himself more than a filthy, rotten cur.

Avanze was just in the middle of thanking Alex, a rather odd but cool Squire, if truth be told, and turning to pull a chair, when Asen spread her legs, taking up more space than she usually would. His queer eyes searched her face, before turning to look in her own blue ones. He wondered why she couldn't just forgive him, and hate Etnava. It wasn't his fault his Other was so..... Evil. Avanze hated having enemies, or at least people who kept grudges against him. It made him always look over his shoulder when they were near, for fear of any sort of backstabbing or anything of the sort that would mess his day up, or his life.

He gave an annoyed sniff, glaring at the half-Dhani. He would have just apologized, if not for her stupid attitude. He didn't want to be rude to those that threatened to slit his throat, as most of the time, they were serious..... But, this particular one.... She seemed to know how to push all of his buttons, and liked to do it at the same time.

He set the mug and pitcher on an empty table near them, not moving his feet an inch. He crossed his arms, glaring down at Asen, as if waiting for her to move her long legs. He waited a chime; two chimes. A few other bar patrons noticed him, getting slightly anxious; an angered Akalak wasn't something to be trifled with.

"Oi, if I remember correctly, Alexander was here first. This is his table. What gives you the right to say who can't sit at a table, if the first here said it was alright? Oh," he gave a small smile, though it wasn't anywhere near friendly, "don't tell me what to do." Having stated his piece, he turned a chair, sitting down. He didn't need to be at a table; he could sit here, with only a chair, practically for the rest of his time here. Glaring at Asen, he grudgingly said in a small voice of annoyance an apology. Rather bland one at that, but an apology nonetheless. "Sorry for letting Etnava come..." He didn't want Asen to want to slit his throat; dangerous thing, that. He coughed, sending only a small glare at Alex, as if daring him to even think about what happened. Right after, though, he felt bad. Alexander hadn't done anything. He sent a small smile at the Squire, before turning back sending another glare at the female Squire, before turning back briefly.

He turned to the table he had set his mug on, bringing it to his lips and tilting it back. He drained the cup of the nasty stuff, and had yet to feel the effects. He glared all the while at the half-Dhani, daring her to say anything about his choice of seat.
