A Fish and a Hunt
21st of Winter, 514 AV
She told herself that it was simply because of the wealth of wildlife that she was always drawn back to the Kandukta Basin several times a season despite the dangers, but to be honest Tinnok didn't fully know what brought her back. She had mixed feelings, remembering the time when she encountered the undead witch here, but she had also met so many creatures she had never before seen, like the giant otter, the expansive amount of fish, and the different fish and insect hunting birds and their prey. The basin was a mecca for jungle life, and perhaps it was her mark and thus her that felt most at home here, surrounded by all of it that kept her coming back looking for new creatures to learn about and encounter.
She padded up quietly as she could to the edge of the water. She had been learning how if she turned herself sideways, drew her body somewhat downwards and wove it through the branches this way it could cut down on noise. It was easiest when breezes swept through, where she could mask her movements with the already rustling of leaves and branches, but the less of her body touched the surrounding plant life the better.
She was on all fours by the time she made it to the edge of the water. One by one she placed the majority of her weapons onto the ground. Two daggers, her bow and quiver, her spear, and covered them up with some reads. One dagger she kept clasping it in her teeth. She crawled out onto the mixture of sand and rocks to the lapping edge of the water and summoned up her res, directing it into her hands and feet. Between her fingers she stretched and pulled the skin to form webbing, which was a repeat of her time with a particular otter. Upon her feet, however she wanted to try something a bit more complex, and began to lengthen the bones in her feet, especially the toes. As she did so she formed the same type of webbing, but it took up much more of her feet than before. She paused midway through to scoop up a curious bull frog that was watching her, pulling gently on one of his back legs to see how the extensive webbing their connected, and the strange shape of his long toes. She chuckled as she felt the anger of her mishandling him. Though small when it came to the food chain of Falyndar, it was clear this male thought himself on top of his own little piece of the basin.
She wriggled her toes experimentally, they felt frail and much too long, but she knew once she got into the water they would help immensely. Still clinging to the frog's foot she adjusted the length of her toes so with the webbing they created a nice rounded, if bizarre looking pair of webbed feet. She then profusely apologized to the bull frog and returned him to his spot, where being so offended, he swiftly disappeared into the water with nary a few ripples.
Tinnok not wanting to stand on her awkwardly long feet, slid on her rump into the water, dagger still in her mouth. Once she the cool liquid reached her waist she shifted around, pushing gently off the dirt with her feet and kicked experimentally, webbed feet pushing her powerfully through the water. She kicked again and it brought her far from shore, she dove down below the waves pushed herself down, then curled her body and kicked hard, driving herself up to the surface where she leapt out of the water, her back arcing to perform a jump, landing almost gracefully headfirst in a back flip back into the water. Then she realized she had probably lost the element of surprise...
