OOC Info Still Waters Run Deep

Feel free to post any and all OOC chatter for Kenash and Cyphrus here!

(This is a thread from Mizahar's fantasy role play forums. Why don't you register today? This message is not shown when you are logged in. Come roleplay with us, it's fun!)

This lazy agricultural settlement rests on the swampy shores of the Middle Suvan at the delta of The Kenash River. The River's slow moving bayou waters have bred a different sort of people - rugged, cultured, and somewhat violent. Sprawling plantations of tobacco and cotton grow on the outskirts of the swamp in the rich Cyphrus soils, while the city itself curls around the bayou and spawns decadence and sins of all sorts. Life is slower in Kenash, but the lack of pace is made up for in the excesses of food and flesh in a city where drinking, debauchery, gambling, slavery, and overbearing plantation families dominate the landscape.

Another quick update! The Event Calendar has now been posted and is open for use, with unique plot hooks posted in the second post. The Seasonal Goals thread will soon follow. I am also open for moderated threads, so definitely message me with anything in regards to that.

You're doing a brilliant job so far Debauchery. I hope I'll have a chance to RP in Kenash again in the future :)

Again, I can't say how excited I am to have you here, Debauchery! As far as active players go, I think there's only Kaitanu and me (and Maddoch for flashbacks). I'll definitely PM you about plots and everything, probably tomorrow.

Regarding the seasonal calendar, I was wondering if you were planning on incorporating the fantastical summer event that Goss came up with for Cyphrus. Kai and I discussed a thread starting with a door, so I think it'd be great if the event was reflected in the calendar somehow. Of course, we need our own events, but that certainly has lots of potential regarding Dynasty politics, intrigue and mystery too!

I certainly appreciate the compliment, Timothy. I know I would enjoy having you here. Even if you can't make it to Kenash IC anytime soon, your OOC presence is still quite welcome.

Estrellir, I originally misunderstood the summer event. Due to my own failure at reading comprehension, I thought it was an event local to that city. Your comment on it led me to take a second look, however. I appreciate you pointing it out, as it certainly should be on the Calendar. I have added a single related event to the Calendar, dated for the 55th. I have also sent you a PM about making a door thread of your own, which is more than welcome.

For anyone confused, detail on the event can be found here. All of the same rules still apply, though they would lead to an alternate version of Kenash instead of Riverfall.

I have also posted the Seasonal Challenges. I am interested to hear any of your personal opinions about Seasonal Challenges; not just the ones I have posted, but Challenges as a whole. Do they ever seem fun to use? Not really worth the effort? Something else?

I thought I'd put in my two cents about seasonal challenges. I took a look at the ones you posted because I was looking to try it out, but the small problem I'm having is that they seemed difficult for me to work with because of how my character's demeanor would be (after being caught.) I just can't feasibly see him able to do a few of them which is a shame. :( Some of them would feel forced in an effort to make it fit, when I think it would be beneficial to try and make the situations in the challenges transition smoothly, if that makes sense.

I understand what you mean, especially considering Maddoch's personality. I did purposefully put specific ones in there so that players would have to be imaginative to figure out how they would find themselves in that situation, but of course then that risks making some of them too hard to achieve.

When you suggest to make them flow more smoothly, do you mean create ones that are easier to fit into a thread? The Challenge about the new drugs for example, which I think would be easy to fit into a variety of threads.

Yeah fosho. Hmm, yeah in a way to make them able to be fit into threads without forcing it, if that makes sense? I'm not sure. I understand though that the specific ones can bring about some awesome ideas and offers something creative, but it's difficult to find a way to make it work for a PC whose demeanor is say, really really emo or angry, like mine is. Bahaha. But I'm just making excuses.

I do really love the drug challenge though, that one sounds awesome and something I'd totally love to do. Maybe if the seasonal challenges allowed multiple threads using the same challenges as being a valid way to get the award so that if a few challenges don't really mesh with the character, there's other options?

Hm, I'm not sure though, I'm just tossing stuff at the wall, haha.

Hm, I have to say I rarely ever use the seasonal challenges... only if I'm planning to hit them all and go for the medal which obviously hasn't happened yet. But as far as I can see, you came up with a few good ones! The drug thing fits Est very well, hehe. Then there are others she would only do under extraordinary circumstances like venturing into the swamp (which, coincidentally, she did do with Kai two seasons ago). I do think they provide thread ideas, so maybe I'll use them more in the future!

Also, I think involving Madd in seasonal challenges and events will be difficult simply due to his slave status. That's a given. And well, his personality was your choice to begin with! :P

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not condemning the seasonal challenges or anything I think they're great. I was just giving my two cents since Debauch asked for thoughts on it, after all. ;P (I mean hugging a ponda bear sounds like it would be stinkin' adorable.)

Are slaves not allowed to take part in seasonal challenges just by virtue of being a slave? (And common, Est, would you want him any other way? |:) )

Debauchery ran these challenges by me and they were approved.

STs have never nor will they ever tailor challenges to work for specific PCs. Your job, if you want to complete then, is to creatively work them into your threads.

Slaves aren't real people in Kenash anyhow. They are things... tools, coin, entertainment. You folks need to get used to this.
