3rd of Summer 515av
Northern Suvan Sea Only two hours sail from The Anchorage Flotilla

Late Afternoon

Loud roaring and the rushing bubbles met the face of the young Svefra as he launched himself head first into the chilling depths of the Suvan Sea. The salty waters briefly stinging his bright sapphire gaze as the waters churned from having its still surface disturbed. The waves and bubbles tickling the young male's bare sun-kissed skin. His undergarments momentarily inflated with air, soon clung to his thighs as the young Svefra clenched his fingers tightly together and kicked as hard as he could to propel himself deeper into the twinkling blue void. Speckles of light from Syna's Summer gaze above danced in the undercurrents of the sea, giving the underwater biome a magical tone as he revelled in the cooling sensation of the icy waters around him.
The young Svefra utilised his 'seventh sense' as the Oceanus Gnosis of Laviku upon the back of his left calf activated at the touch of the salty sea waters. Kai's mind was flooded with images of the surrounding nautical mile - as far as his 'depth finder' ability would allow him to see. He searched around him for large schools of fish, hoping to find his long time friend and Tavan companion Lexa. With her help he hoped to track down the Otani Tyvic Whitewave had seen around these parts. Now with what he knew about them, he felt somewhat prepared for the initial contact. Whether he was ready or not for the answers, or lack of answers he may find was another kettle of fish altogether. His stomach churned with dread, hope and anticipation all at the same time.
Pushing those knotted feelings to the side however Kai allowed his sapphire gaze to adjust to the currents of water. His eyes stinging slightly as he pushed the waters before his face apart with his hands and kicked with bare feet to drive himself forward, swimming parallel to the Suvan's surface. Sifting through the images flooding his mind's eye, after a while Kai suddenly felt his lungs begin to burn - indicating it was time to surface. Quickly the Svefra paddled upward, breaching the still, though slightly slopping lid of the open Suvan Sea. He forced his lungs to expel the deep breath he had held in before allowing them to take in a large gasp of fresh summer air. Taking a minute to look around, he was glad to see his personal Casinor, The Puer Lavinium, remained anchored where he had left it.
Suddenly 'seeing' a fleeting glimpse of a stryker school, Kai floated onto his back and casually, lazily paddled backwards towards their direction. As he swam, he took the moment to appreciate and revel in the chilling relief the salty waters brought to his skin from the raging heat of Syna's gleam. With his mind and body alike, fully at ease the young Svefra began to try and recall how the verse of the song went that Tyvic Whitewave had sung for him earlier. Remembering the general melody, the young Svefra began to hum it quietly to himself. As he did so more of the song and its words came flooding back.
Humming louder, more confident he had the way of the song right, the young Svefra flipped over onto his stomach. Keeping his head above the waves, he began to take long, out-stretched swings of his arms, kicking with more force. His body, naturally breathing in when it needed to, Kai carefully concentrated even more so on controlling his breaths as he burst out into song. His voice deep, gruff, with the raspy tone of a voice nearly never used in song. Even above the swishing and splashing of the sea as he swam, Kai knew he sounded awful. Singing was hard when stood in one spot, let alone trying to hit a note right while swimming. Yet if song was what the Otani liked; then song was what he had to do to attract their attention.
Getting closer to the school of stryker, Kai could 'see' in his seventh sense that there was a small raft of sea-lion herding and playing with the fish. Whether they were on the hunt for dinner or playing games he couldn't tell. Nor could he catch a good glimpse if Lexa was among them. Deciding that not only would Lexa recognise his voice if she heard it, but also the Otani if it was near by - the young Svefra slowed to a halt a relatively close distance to the under water raft of sea lion.
Flicking his legs in a slow, effortless scissor-motion and gently pushing the water to and fro with his clenched fingers, Kai treaded water and began to resonate the song he was singing even louder from the depths of his lungs. Singing the verse of the Otani song at the top of his voice, the young Svefra didn't even care that he was definitely off key on almost every note - he was enjoying it even so.

While keeping his 'depth finder' eye on the raft and school of fish, on the look out for glimpses of Lexa, the young floating Svefra also turned his sapphire gaze to scan the horizons and surrounding Suvan about himself. A good few minutes passed. Nothing. Even though treading water was near an effortless motion, he knew it was still sapping his strength. With his Casinor anchored in the near distance, he would need to leave himself with at least enough energy to get back home. His urge for answers and to settle his eye upon an Otani was great - his urge to live was greater however.
Singing the Otani verse once more, even louder - though with no prior singing training it sounded more like shouting with a hint of a melody in the back tones of his rough voice. Kai was too preoccupied concentrating on the timing of his breathing to keep from becoming exasperated, to worry if he sounded any good. Pausing a moment the young Svefra strained to listen to the lopping waves for any hint of anything. Nothing.
Quite an impatient soul, the man had not yet even been singing for a single bell, but he grew eager and his determination roared. In slight frustration at neither finding his Tavan Companion or an Otani, the young Svefra sang the otani verse:

*

"They come from the God of oceans, sea and spray,
From the ages of water, over full in their day.
If marked by the creator, they come to play games,
Or warn of storm and turmoil, respect they have gained.
Loyal to Laviku, only to him through and through,
With command over his beasts, his will they do.
Their story, all they have done,
To be passed through the notes of a song."

*

Note:Song lyrics all my own work. If you would like to use them please accredit them to my PC's CS :)

And then hestitantly, still at the top of his lungs and within the melody of the Otani Song, made up line by line as they popped into his head, another 'verse' of his own:

*

"Oh Otani! Here I am to play,
Come on out and make my day!
Im sining like a lubberAn awkward, clumsy, un-seamanlike fellow
And it's all just for you - "

*

Suddenly his singing voice and train of thought was disturbed by the beautiful face of his best friend. In his 'seventh' gaze he saw the distinctive white underbelly of his Tavan Companion Lexa. A broad grin spread over the young male's rugged features as his heart actually skipped a beat in excitement of seeing her. "Lexa!" His voice rang over the slopping waves of the Suvan and clenching his abdomen to vault himself horizontal in the water, he began to kick wildly. Reaching long out-stretched, swinging arms into the salty waters, the young Svefra called out once more to his friend as she sped under the water towards him, hearing his voice vibrate through the deep blue. "Lexa! Over here! Over here girl! Lexa!"

The Search for an Otani

From beneath the waves, Lexa grunted excitedly and boisterously in the way sea-lions are known for, her dark deep eyes sparkling with the hints of a smile at finding her best friend. Sucking in a deep breath, his chest expanding as he held it, Kai dunked his head under water to settle his sapphire gaze upon the teenage critter himself. Finally within range for him to forego using the sight of his 'depth finder' to see her. He grinned toothily and plowed through the underwater currents, using the strength in his shoulders to spread the water before him while kicking wildly as he swam underneath the Suvan.
It had been several days since they had parted ways upon entering the borders of the Northern Suvan Sea. Lexa had gone off doing her thing, exploring the new waters, Kai off exploring the Anchorage Flotilla. It was good to see a familiar face in a place unknown, she was a piece of home he was glad to have with him.
As they finally met up, Lexa spiralled in circles around him excitedly as he spun around in the water trying to keep up, every once in a while brushing his fingertips against her still slightly furry skin as she buzzed past. A teenager of her kind, Lexa still adorned her puppy fat and fur, though it was thinning and becoming more skin like as she aged. Her distinctive white underbelly almost glowing in Syna's refracting light in the underwater biome compared to her dark grey top coat. Her body flipping, swirling and gliding naturally within the water Lexa slowed and snuggled her whiskered face into Kai's bare chest, nudging him slightly. Her affection was returned in kind as he embraced her in a tight hug, one hand stroking her back tentatively.
She was more than just a young Svefra's Tavan Companion, she was his family and he loved her as he did any of his Pod family members. His mind and heart preoccupied with the elation at being reunited with Lexa, Kai was not paying attention to scanning the sea around him with his 'seventh sense'. Suddenly Lexa bolted from his grasp, her whiskered nose flickering, her head lurching from one side to the other. Alerted to her worry, Kai spun himself around within the water. His arms gently swinging side to side, his feet 'scissoring' to keep him afloat where he was, Kai searched the deep blue around them.
Alas his human gaze was not designed to peer beneath the Suvan effectively. Yet one did not need acute sight to see the quite large shadow with tail flipping, fin protruding, swiftly making its way closer and closer towards them! A surprised gasp escaped the young Svefra, air bubbles clouding his sight before his face. His lungs empty of air, desperate, the young male scrambled his way for the surface quite clumsily. Lexa in a panic followed his lead, not wanting to leave his side.
Breaching the surface, he expelled the air from his lungs - against his natural urge to breathe in. Gasping for air and in slight fear, Kai treaded water as he searched the sea around him for Lexa. She should have been right behind him, where was she?! As if in answer to his panicked question Lexa's canine-like face popped up not a meter from his own. Slight relief calming his thundering heart, his adrenaline pumped mind took to looking out for the creature nearby.
Taking in a steadying breath the young Svefra closed his eyes and concentrated on his 'depth finder' as images flooded his mind's eye. As the picture of a Spearhead appeared in his 'sight' Kai couldn't help but utter a befuddled curse. What in the world was a Spearhead doing all the way out here?!
Strangely, however fear and panic did not strike the young male as he bobbed with the lapping waves of the Suvan. His gut was telling him that something wasn't right about this creature, though his conscious mind couldn't for the life of him place what that 'something' was. His sapphire gaze lingered over Lexa a moment, gauging her responses and reactions. She didn't appear to be too fearful either. The momentary surprise of having a creature loom over them had faded as Lexa simply dipped in and out of the lid of the Sea, clearly not alarmed, appearing more curious than anything - though not enough to go venture closer to the creature to sate her lust.
Though the young Svefra's lungs burned, he forced them to intake a large breath once more and dipped his face beneath the waves. The Spearhead was close - too close for comfort - yet it simply swam around them. Keeping a stationary distance, the Spearhead played around in circles - was it waiting for him to make the first move? This was very peculiar behaviour for any animal, fish or creature for that matter. Palms up, the young male waved his way deeper into the blue, sinking he strained for a better glimpse. The Gnosis on the back of his left calf suddenly altered his vision of the Spearhead. His eyes suddenly flung wide in shock as a broad grin spread his plump cheeks full of air. Finally, for the first time in his life, Kai's sapphire eyes took in before him an Otani of the Sea!
