A small update. Not finalised, more of a work in progress. Let me know what you think. Would you all prefer something similar to Riverfall? Keep things uniform or shake it up a bit?

You made a map. Oh my goodness. I am so happy with this.

I am not sure what you mean with your questions, but perhaps only because I am over the moon already.

I do have a couple questions, just related to how you decided to locate things, are the locations grouped by clan, or just dispersed as you feel makes the most sense? Because I know Baultime's is Ruby clan, but he's off by the Diamond location.

So that doesn't matter so much, if you are sorting by the idea that complementary businesses group together, but if they are sorted by clan, then I am confused.

Wait, is that an Ixam?

I can tell you why I put the market places where I do. Strangers visiting the tent city for trade are not encouraged to venture into the heart of the city, so they're set up near the gates where the city would like them to remain and provides land for them to set up their own accommodation.

The middle of the city is something that always stays the same with the main clans setting up their massive campsites to watch the rest of the city form around them.

I kept a lot of clan owned businesses close to the clans but not all of them made sense to do so, as you aren't exactly going to find horse imports smack bang in the middle of the city when most herd-animals are lingering on the outskirts all mixed together.

Don't think of each square as a tent so much as it is a 'plot' for whole pavilions to set up their campsites, animals and all; especially on the second map which is largely scaled down.

Had some fun with this. Thought I would share it. Happy to work on something like this for other pavilions.

OH that is awesome. what did you use to make that.

Amunet technically is part of the ruby clan. Though an aspiring healer as her mother came from the opal clan. Is it possible for the stonewhisper pavillion to be made?

Photoshop to make those. I'm happy to make you one once you have a few posts under your belt. They take a lot of time and I don't want to put one together for someone who doesn't see out a season at least (no offense).

Okay. Last day here for three weeks! I'm off overseas for a good holiday and won't be signing in at all (as I won't have internet at this stage and I'd prefer to enjoy my holiday without work/hobbies for a while). Don't miss me too much and be good to each other while I'm gone. The lovely Gossamer can help you while I'm away if you have any important issues, otherwise I will be back at the end of July/ early August to pick up where I left off. Lots of love and I will see you all in a few weeks!

[OOC thread] Moving with the Herd

Postby Dravite on July 21st, 2015, 4:36 pm

Half way through my holiday. Finally got some wifi that works so I thought I would pop in and say hello! Went to that Grand Canyon yesterday, it was a bearable 89 degrees with cloud cover and rain at times. This morning there isn't a cloud in the sky. I'm going to visit Fremont Street (old Vegas) and take a look around before I leave for San Fransisco tomorrow (cooler weather there, thank God). Didn't catch any shows, I like to just walk up and down the strip and see what's really going on, the homeless people, the girls dressing up for photos and tips; very different to NZ. Can't say I like the food too much, they serve portions that would take me a day and a half to finish and there is so much processed crap (excuse my French). One night I was so over it I ate fruit dinner, and then went and bought some blueberries, but after they kept for four days, I was put off those too (suggests too many sprays and chemicals to me).

Hope everyone is doing well here on Mizahar and taking care of our new comers. Missing the RP! But it's given me time to plot a few ideas. As soon as I get home I'll work on replies for you all. Take care and I see you lot in a week or so.

I didn't realize you were state side! It has been 100+ here last week or so. Maybe we will get a nice cool 89 soon... That would be lovely!

Please don't talk about our food, I have to eat here, like, forever. Farmer's markets are usually on the weekends. Best place for survivable food. Otherwise.... try not to think about it.

I just made polenta squares. I would share if i could shove them through the computer screen. alas it makes a very big mess and my keyboard protested. (kidding)

Not sure what the local organic market is out there, but you might be able to find it at a whole foods type store.

If you think portion size is bad there, try texas. I live in florida now which is very agriculturally rich. Lot of produce.

Good luck and hope the rest of your vacation goes smoothly.
