Roses and Horses

It was bright and sunny day, the wind blew softly giving a relaxing cooling sensation to the sweat laden bodies who bustled about the road. Moxie enjoyed shopping, it was therapeutic in a way. When ever she was feeling bad about herself, feeling down and out, or just did not have the best of attitudes she would always go shopping. She really did not have to buy anything as she did so, just looking around at what the shops offered was enough for her. Moxie figured it was all just an excuse really, to get out of the apartment with a purpose other then work, and to do something she enjoyed doing.

As she was about to cross the street she saw an elderly woman who was having a hard time, Moxie frowned and looked around. It was really crowded today, she looked to be hunched over from age, and every time she would go to step across someone on a horse would come by, or the crowd would thicken. She observed that the woman was becoming a bit aggravated by the whole ordeal, and it pulled on her heart strings. She walked over smiling at the woman, the soft smile made her face look pleasant and clam as she placed a hand on her withered one. "Let me help you dear." Her voice matching her soft smile, as she lead the woman across the street. She moved slow, so there were a few shouts and yells about them needing to hurry up. Moxie just turned and glared at the rude people, who were always in too much of a rush to appreciate the small things in life, like helping others for instance. They finally made it across the road and Moxie patted her hand as the woman said thank you a bit out of breath. "Of course, you are welcome dear, have a lovely day!" She called out as she walked away, looking at the various shops that were on the street.

As she come upon a shop that said it was 'Wax Illuminations' she was about to go in when a something hit her delicate nose. She sniffed the air and looked at the shop next to 'Wax Illuminations', it appeared to be a scent shop. The air was filled with all kinds of different aromas that perked Moxie's interest. She let go of the door handle, and instead she went over to the shop next door. The sign read that it was called 'Sensual Scents', and she was intrigued to find out what that had inside.

Moxie walked through the double glass doors and entered the shop, looking around her it was beautiful inside. The aroma of the different scents hit her nose and it was quite pleasant. The shop was well laid out and organized, there was a multitude of colorful bottles and glasswares, at the waiting area there was a lovely selection of different types of perfumes.

A rather attractive looking man came up to her, Can I help you miss? he asked in a husky but pleasant voice. Moxie nodded her head, "I am looking for some perfume, what would you recommend?" The man's eyes lit up as he took her in carefully. His eyes roamed over her from head to foot, she did not feel awkward about it as it was not the romantic or lustful type of gaze, just a business one. As he finished his inspection of her he nodded and smiled, disappearing for a moment, and then procuring a simple glass bottle for her.

I think this will suit you best, tell me what you think? The man asked with a broad smile, obviously proud of himself. She gave him a smile back and sniffed the contents in the bottle. It was soft yet beautiful aroma, it smelled of roses but had a tinge of something mystifying about it. "I do believe you captured me in a bottle sir." She replied laughing softly, "What is your name?" She asked. Dicen Avisna, I am the owner here. Moxie continued smiling and sniffed the aroma again, "That make sense, you do amazing work, thank you. How much?" Moxie asked in a friendly tone, the man replied it was one golden-miza because it was ten ounces. She nodded and handed him the miza, as he wrapped up her perfume and handed it to her. Thank you for the business! The man said as he handed her the perfume. Moxie smiled and bowed her head slightly before turning and leaving the shop, traveling back up Orchid Lane. She could not wait to use the perfume how ever, and went ahead and placed some at her wrists and behind her ears. The scent was lovely and really did match her personality well, the man was amazing to have been able to do that. Though it was his line of work and it made sense that he was able to do so.

Moxie sighed softly as she continued her path, she felt like a drink was in order as well, the sun was beginning to sit and she was rather quite bored. Perhaps some entertainment would be provided at the Rearing Stallion, there was always something or another going on, and she enjoyed watching all the drunkards antics as well. Besides, she had no body to go home to, no one was waiting for her, so she might as well enjoy life.

Aroma Therapy

Postby Beodan Clathony on July 25th, 2015, 12:40 am

Beodan was roused from his dreams by a beam of bright sunlight flowing into his tent, seeming to flow directly into his sleep filled eyes. He had been asleep for around a third of an hour. Rubbing his eyes with the knuckles of his index fingers, he stepped onto the cool floor. His feet were so calloused from walking barefooted that he almost did not notice the night’s chill seeping into his flesh. His tent was warm, the summer weather not exactly the harshest of conditions, so he did not bother dressing.

Picking up a small trimming knife from his desk, Dan walked out from his home. He approached his small collection of plant pots, blade held lightly in his hand. Snick. Snick. Snick. And so the knife cut, guided by a practiced hand. This had been his morning routine for some time now. Feverfew, Peppermint, and Black Cohosh. The others had not grown yet, for he hand not planted any more. Only what he need. After his short labor, he was left with a bunch of pruned old growths in his hand, to allow for maximum yield from the plants when he needed it. They were coming along quite nicely! They were really basic plants (the peppermint practically took care of itself), but he was proud of the accomplishment. He popped a few of the minty leaves into his mouth, chewing them thoroughly, giving his breath a clean scent.

The other herbs he sorted and placed into jars with the same herb inside of it. Slowly his collection was accumulating more and more resources. He turned his brown gaze onto the plants that were hanging from ropes strung near the ceiling. He frowned, they were so boring! Just random, useful plants he had stumbled upon on his frequent walks. Nothing exotic, nothing too rare, nothing exciting! The place he would likely find something that tickled his fancy would be in the great city of Syliras. He bit his lip, the Horse Kelvic did not like the city very much. Sure it was a wonderful place, but some of the people were mean, and it was always loud and bustling. Frankly, it scared him! But his urge for something new won out against his mild dislike of the crowded city. I mean it wasn’t that bad.

He shook his tinctures, then walked outside once more, now carrying a pack with some gold and his clothes in it. Beodan set the pack face down on the ground, the straps facing upwards. At a will and with a burst of light, there stood a horse, whose sleek, brown coat gleamed as spotted sun hit it. After bending down and grasping the pack in his flat teeth, he started to move along the small forest path that led to the road. Around thirty chimes later he came to the road that split through the now thinning trees. It would be another hour before he reached the city gates. Better get started! He set off at a trot along the North Kabrin Road, headed South.

True to his estimation, it was now already past noon. He came to a stop a stone’s throw away from the guards at the gate, panting from exertion. The immediate area was bathed in a pure light as the Horse Kelvic shifted to his human form, the pack stuffed awkwardly in his mouth. He removed it gingerly, and set about donning his clothes, oblivious to the looks the guards were giving him. After a swift, practiced inspection, he was ushered into the city.

Making his way to the Great Bazaar proved to be challenging. People seemed to fight him for room on the street, and jostled his body around repeatedly. He did not think they were trying to be rude, but it made progress slow and sweaty. Finally reaching the blessed sign that read “Stormhold Salves.” He walked in and smiled at the woman inside, who knew he liked to browse, “Let me know if you need anything, Clathony.” He smiled, she remembered him. He looked over all of the colored bottles and large collection of herbs. He stopped in front of a plant with large green leaves that grew out from a central stock, light purple flowers, now dry, on the top. “What is this one?” he asked, pointing to the plant in question. “Ah, that is Comfrey. Grows like weeds further north. If I recall rightly, it helps heal open wounds and prevent inflammation. Also stomach aches, but don’t eat too much of it, you will get very sick!”
“How much for 8 ounces of it?”
“6 coppers an ounce, so 4 silver, 8 copper”
Beodan handed her the money, thanked her, and left, new plant in hand. Which turned out to be a poor decision, he was left with many clear barbs stuck in his palm. Quickly, he placed it into his pack and winced as he pulled out the many stickers. Time for a drink, it was far too hot now in the very late afternoon.

Soon Dan was pulling open the heavy door to the Rearing Stallion, a name that always made him crack a grin, and sat down at what looked to be the only empty table. It was very full, the crowd boisterously talking as they consumed food and beer. He ordered his own ale, and took a sip. Oh sweet amber liquid. If it had not been before, this trip was surely a success now. The smell of good food was making his mouth water. He decided he would get supper here too, just a little later. For now, he enjoyed his ale and the comforting thrum of conversation.

Roses and Horses

Moxie could not stop smelling herself, the scent she just bought was just so lovely and suited her well. The aroma of roses surrounded her as she stepped inside the Rearing Stallion. She was thrilled the perfume she could smell on her made the scent of sweaty bodies more bearable. Glancing around her she could not find a empty table, everyone was being loud and obnoxious as the Ale had floated to their heads, and seemed to be making their tongues stronger.

Moxie was nervous, she really did not like crowds of people too much. She looked around trying to see a place to set, twisting her hands slightly and chewing on her lower lip from the nervousness this crowded place was causing her. She spied a table that only had one person at it, the man did not seem too loud or drunk, he sat there quietly sipping at his mug of Ale. The man had dark brown hair, she could not see his eyes from this distance, he looked a lot bigger then Moxie though that was not hard to accomplish.

The Konti stood there for a moment, debating whether or not to sit with the man, or at least asking if it was okay to share the table. It would be awkward and this made her more nervous. She was slightly pushed as someone else walked through the door, she glared at the man slightly who shoved her out of the way, as he loudly yelled at someone he knew. It was irritating that the man had no manners, so with that she decided standing here near the door just was not the best of ideas.

She swept by bodies making her way to the table, when she made it she cleared her throat, "E-excuse me.. Can I sit here?" she asked the man before her, her voice came out melodic and faint. A bright blush lit her pale skin, as she tucked a stray strand of stark white hair behind her ear, looking upon the man with her amethyst eyes. Moxie hoped he would not turn her down as there was no where else to sit, although if he did she would understand as she avoided strangers usually herself. The Konti started rolling her lower lip between her teeth again, as the nervousness wracked her small body.

Roses and Horses

Postby Beodan Clathony on July 25th, 2015, 2:15 am

Beodan had been enjoying himself in the tavern for about a fifth of a mug before he was roused from his thoughts. His subconscious alerted him to someone standing at the edge of his table just moments before they cleared their throat and spoke, “E-excuse me.. Can I sit here?” It was a soft, feminine voice, almost like music from a flute. He looked the girl up and down. She was petite, probably a head shorter than him or so, with long, pearl colored hair that was gently curled. He caught sight of scales adorning her fair skin, and knew she was a Konti, like his friend Nira’lia. Maybe they had seen each other? Speaking of which, her eyes were wonderful pools of violet, with a small sprinkle of blue mixed in. He shook his head slightly to pull his thoughts back to her question.

“Yes, feel free to take a seat, miss,” he said quickly, a little nervous about someone he did not know coming up to him. Though, her cheeks were tinted pink, a bright splash of color against her pale skin. That made him feel a little better, it meant she was at least nervous as he was, and probably did not mean him any harm. She did not look the type anyway. She bit her lip out of nerves, and he could practically feel the anxiety rolling off of her in waves. It smelled like, sniff, roses? He sniffed once more. Yes, roses. The sweet scent was a nice change of pace from the chaotically home-like aroma of the Stallion. The perfume was intoxicating, though he quite liked it. He was reminded of spring flowers and green meadows.

The Horse Kelvic took a short drink from his mug to wet his throat, then spoke, “What is your name, miss? I’m Beodan, but call me Dan if you would like.” He could not escape from her violet gaze, her large eyes acting like magnet for his own. Perhaps it was the somewhat unusual color? Like two lilac petals in place of human eyes. Lilacs tasted good, he thought tangentially. He pulled his mind back the the present, and decided to partake in another human pleasantry. “How are you.”

Moxie was hit with chocolate brown eyes into her own violet ones, they were warm and kind and she relaxed a little, although she trembled slightly from the anxiety of walking up to a stranger had caused her. She was relieved to hear that he was okay with her sitting down, she pulled the chair out and said crossing her legs as the man spoke to her. "Moxie, nice to meet you Dan." She gave a soft smile to the pleasant conversation, that started to ease her nerves slightly. His eyes kept gazing into her own, she tried to look away but could not because his eyes were fascinating as well. They were so warm and inviting, the brown reminded her of a sweet treat and he seemed to be sweet himself. Eyes told a lot about a person in her opinion, she had met some with the cold type of eyes, those people she avoided at all cost. The one time she did not left her in a bad situation.

She sat quietly not sure what to say when he spoke once more, asking her how she was, "Honestly nervous. I never sit with strangers. How are you?" Her common was not as good as those who lived her, Kontinese being her fluent language. Her words held the musical accent to them when she spoke, and at times some words of common left her mind completely and her sentences were not as complete as they should be. She raised her hand to the barmaid who was serving mugs of Ale to the patrons, she sat down a mug of the amber liquid before her. Raising it to her lips a bit shakily as her nerves were still out of sorts, she took a dainty sip of the ale, then a gulp to help calm her nerves placing it back on the table she glanced at the man before her.

He had something different about him, he seemed human but there was something more that she could not put her finger on. She glanced him over up and down and then mentally shrugged it off, perhaps it was just the dim lighting in the Rearing Stallion causing her to second guess things. She rolled the sleeves up on her tunic, revealing her soft pale skin, deciding it was getting quiet between them and she might as well make conversation since they sat together, "So.. What do you do? Uhm.. For work I mean." Moxie asked softly, gazing into those warm brown eyes of his.

Roses and Horses

Postby Beodan Clathony on July 25th, 2015, 3:52 am

Beodan nodded at her answer, new things in generally startled him, and he did not usually sit with other people either. Though not because he did not want to, just that he did not have many friends in the city, and no way to meet the few he had save for arranging something beforehand. “I am okay. A little tired from trotting all the way here, and the heat hasn’t helped that much. I am feeling lonely too, but I have been that way for a while,” he answered at length, giving away much weightier information than was usually socially acceptable for that question, though he seemed not to notice.

He was happy she seemed to be relaxing slowly in his company. He gave her an easy smile as she drank, then sipped from his own mug. The familiar, bitter taste washed across his tongue. It was an acquired taste, but one that was not hard to grow fond of. Especially the way they made it here. Not that he had ever been to another such establishment to gain such perspective. But he guessed that this was the best due to its popularity. Their table slipped into a comfortable silence (at least for Beodan), and the pair let the surrounding patrons fill in the gaps with their own conversations all stacked on top of one another.

Moxie rolled up her sleeves, and opened her mouth to speak, causing Dan to find her eyes so they could talk properly. “So.. What do you do? Uhm.. for work I mean.” His drinking companion’s slight accent was rather endearing, beautiful even. He thought for a moment, taking a sip of his drink, then answered enthusiastically,”I fancy myself an herbalist of sorts, I love plants! You should see my tent, I have all sorts of herbs and tinctures everywhere. Most of them are there for show, but I will get around to learning what they do eventually! How about you? What do you do?”

The man before her divulged more then she thought he would, perhaps it was the Ale hitting his mind and loosening his mouth. Moxie was unsure, though he said he trotted over here and she found that curious, saying that he was also rather lonely and that pulled at her heart strings. She did not like seeing people hurt in any way, even strangers, but she stayed quiet for now not wanting to seem weird by grabbing his hand, although that is what she wanted to do with that comment.

After the silence, Dan took a sip of his drink then answered her question about what he did for work. She found out he too liked herbs, although she was not very knowledgeable about such things, it was nice to meet someone with a common interest. One that seemed very excited about the work they did with the plants as well, as he seemed very enthusiastic.

He asked what she did and Moxie gave a small smile, "At the moment I a Fortune Teller, although I hope to be a... Veterinarian.. soon. I just love animals so much." She took a sip of her Ale, it was almost all gone already and her mind felt light already. She fancied the slight numb feeling it brought her. She thought back to what he said earlier, reached out and grabbed his hand gently, giving him a wide smile. "Don't be lonely..I here." She said raising her violet seeking out his chocolate ones, then went on to say. "What..you mean...by trotting?" A small frown creasing her smooth features as she gave him a look of confusion.

Roses and Horses

Postby Beodan Clathony on July 25th, 2015, 4:52 am

A faint but genuine smile lit her face when he asked about what she did for a living. “At the moment I a fortune teller,” Moxie started with slightly fragmented common. Beodan did not know any fortune tellers, nor did he quite know what that was. Someone who predicted your luck? Or your wealth? That would be handy, he supposed. She finished, “Although I hope to be a… Veterinarian.. soon. I just love animals so much.” Her voice was nonchalant, not trying to mean more than she said, but to him it spoke volumes. She did not know he was a Kelvic yet, unless she was really observant and just did not comment on it. Though his glee at her love for animals diminished somewhat when he reminded himself that just because someone liked animals, did not mean they liked Kelvics. Some people were bigoted that way.

A slender hand touched Beodan’s callused one that lay on the table, startling him out of his thoughts. She took his hand in hers, comfortingly, and said with a bright smile, “Don’t be lonely..I here.” Their eyes met, and in that moment, he wasn't. The grasping tendrils of longing were sent into hibernation for a time, and he felt a great tension flow away. He wished it would last forever. Sadly, when she spoke next, the spell was broken, though it was not as bad as it had been just 15 chimes earlier.

“What..you mean...by trotting?” Dan froze. He had not noticed he had said that. He should have said running or something, but it had not occurred to him as they were basically equivalent and around the same speed anyway. How people thought that running was fast he had not a clue. It could not compare to your legs pumping under you until the landscape subtly blurred, moving too quickly for your eyes to focus properly. The did not know what they were missing. He decided he might as well tell her the truth. “Well,” he started hesitantly, looking at his ale, then back to her after a moment spent steeling himself, “I’m a horse. Well, obviously not now. But I can be when I want to.” He was a little flustered, unsure of how she would react. “I am a Kelvic.”

It was all on the table. She would get up and leave without another word, probably. Not many women wanted to drink with a horse. So Beodan prayed to whatever god would listen that she would not leave him alone once again.

OOCI like her! Let me know if you would like to bond in this thread or another, if you still want to of course. :)

The answer she received was said a bit hastily as he became flustered, she was not sure what a Kelvic was exactly however. It was obviously something he was hesitant about, she was not even sure what he meant by he was a horse, "What is a kel..vic? What you mean you are a .. horse?" She asked stumbling over the word Kelvic, she had never heard the word before nor knew what it meant. She wondered if it was a race and if so how the man thought he was a horse. She frowned a bit in thought, emptying her mug of Ale and standing up swaying a bit. She grasped the end of the table, laying down the money for the ale and looked at Dan intently with a grin.

"Show me what you mean." She tossed her head to the door wanting him to go outside with her. Her mind was swirling with questions, she wobbled in place a little looking down at her hands as she balanced herself a bit, still grasping onto the table as she waited for him to stand up to go outside.

She thought it peculiar for a man to call himself a horse, what ever this Kelvic was she was curious and wanted to see for herself. The noise around them was still loud and it seemed more crowded, it of course could of been the Ale she just drank too quickly making her feel this way, but it did seem to be getting over crowded inside. She needed some fresh air and she was not ready to be alone, so she hoped he would come outside and explain everything to her.

OOCWe can do it in this thread, since it is supposed to happen instantly and fast when the two Bond. ;)

Roses and Horses

Postby Beodan Clathony on July 25th, 2015, 4:19 pm

The Kelvic sighed with relief. Not rejection, only curiosity was written on her face. He wondered how many other people in the city had never met a Kelvic, and known they were one. It was hard to tell that a Kelvic was not a human, if they stayed in that form and acted a normal person did. And it helped if they did not have slitted pupils, or the canines of a wolf. He watched her, his head cocked, as she downed her ale in a matter of seconds, and stood with the balance of someone on a ship who had never been to sea before. Her dainty hand grabbed the table for support, and she grinned at him. “Show me what you mean,” Moxie commanded with a toss of her head, her hair following just a beat behind. He was surprised, but he agreed with her. That was the best, and least complicated way of enlightening her, literally.

Dan brought his own mug to his lips, throwing his head back and chugging the bitter ale. It was a shame that it would not be properly enjoyed, but it was hardly important now. She was more important than drink! Now ready to leave, he too rose to his feet, put a hand on the small of her back to steady her, and guided her out of the Tavern. He smiled to himself. Her petite form must not be able to hand much alcohol, something which amused him a small amount. Though, she would likely never become an alcoholic because of that. It is hard to drink lots when you get drunk after only the first mug.

The streets outside were nearly deserted, the sun now down and the street lit by torchlight. The city’s inhabitants were likely in their homes finishing up dinner, or out in some place like the Stallion. He stopped a short walk away from the tavern, and began to strip his off his clothes without an ounce of shame, the unwieldy bolts of cloth they were. Soon he was standing as naked as the day he was born with a small pile containing his entire wardrobe at his feet, minus a coat that was back in his tent. He could not help but attempt at humor, so he said in a mock serious voice, “Watch very closely, you might miss it.” He closed his eyes, and willed himself to be his other half. Two sides of the same coin, now flipped. Bright light was cast out from his body, obscuring it for a moment. A horse now stood in his place, brown hair almost glowing in the light of the torches.

The Horse Kelvic clopped up to Moxie slowly, and nuzzled her neck with his large head, looking at her with large, brown, intelligent eyes.
