Unexpected Views Part 2

Postby Savacea Jovellana on August 2nd, 2015, 8:24 am

The wind below was not as harsh as it was above, it was a gently slap as it brought the moist ocean air to her face. It was nice and cool against her heated skin, as her fangs finally retracted back to their normal place, calming herself slowly and surely. She felt a slight touch of Loda on her shoulder, it wasn't a caress but a curious touch. He told her that she was plenty strong to him and she did not think it was true, "Crying is weakness." She mumbled under her breath, wiping to traces of her outburst off of her face, as he walked over to his spear retrieving it from the sand. Savacea walked over to her sandals slipping them on her feet before the tide could take them into it's depths.

She felt a little awkward for displaying her emotions as she did, she did not like showing people that side of her. It was not only because she could not bring herself to trust another again, but it was just foreign to her as she fought it off for so long. The longing inside her soul for another called out though, and she slipped letting it be soothed by the fierce warrior Loda. She did not regret it, although she could not help but question everything that transpired. Savacea wondered if they were now considered friends, or if it was just a passing moment that neither wanted to share alone. She would understand if he never wanted to see her again, as the moment between them was slowly fading away. Slowly her guard went back up, just in case this was just another memory to be filed away, and looked at fondly ever so often, or if his presence would be more then just passing. Savacea had grown to respect and like the man, over the short time that they spent together. He made it easy to talk, he had an understanding that went beyond the common man. Perhaps their views were more similar then she had previously thought, though it was too soon to tell, only one encounter did not answer all the burning questions inside her, she had to keep herself guarded.

The sound of the crashing waves that inched towards her brought her out of her silent thoughts, her gaze lifting to Loda. Her red eyes shone in the darkness, like the predators in the jungle at night, having a faint glow. "I apologize for the out burst." She yawned behind her small hand, "Thank you for this night, it has been a long time." Savacea said softly, trying to keep her guard up this time, desperately holding on to it not slipping. She walked closer to Loda, her lithe body approached his bulky one, Savacea peered into his eyes, staying silent for a few passing moments as she just stared into the dark orbs before her. She could not help but wondered what it would be like to herself through his eyes, if only for a moment, to really understand what he thought about her. She mentally shrugged it off though, as it really did not matter anymore, glancing away and out to the ocean she brought her lower lip into her mouth, rolling it between her teeth as silence once again was brought over them. Savacea was not sure what to say or do, she was so out of practice with trying to make friendships, and after her emotional outburst what was she to do or say to the man before her?

Unexpected Views Part 2

Loda could not be sure, but as he looked into her eyes, a faint glow emerged from within them. He blinked softly, considering her words and shook his head no at her insistence that crying was weakness. He didn’t think so at all. Even Myrians’ cried sometimes. He didn’t touch on it then though, and it wasn’t until after she thanked him for the night and yawned behind her hand that he spoke in a soft voice, much like hers. Perhaps it was full of care and compassion, perhaps he was emulating her. It didn’t fit the mighty man though and he didn’t like it, but he wasn’t stupid. She could see the might of him and the Myrians. It made her feel weak and useless. While she may be his enemy at some point in the eyes of the Taloban army and Myri, she was not deserving of that treatment right now.

“It’s okay”, he said as she approached him. Her now clearly glowing eyes stared into his. While his voice spoke out to her softly, it still held a raw deepness to it, much like a jaguar’s low growl. “Repeated crying without reason is weakness...In sorrow, hopelessness, and anguish, it is not a weakness to weep.”

She stood before him for a while, her long fangs seemed almost to be slowly receding, much slower than when they first came out. Her pale lips fed between them as if they were friends and he wondered how many people she had sucked dry with them.

Moving to rest his spear upon his shoulder, the man reached over to untie his loincloth, release his sandals from them, and then retie it. They fell with a near soundless thud over the crashing waves, and he moved to slip them on once he was ready. The spear that rest upon him stood even taller than him, being seven feet long and it was at the very least as thick as her arm. The spearhead on the end of it was the size of his head and looked very sharp, yet to the man it was a shortspear; there were longer and bigger ones. Once he was ready, the beam returned to his hand and was lifted from the sand.

He looked at her as she stared out at the ocean and it was as if to him it seemed like she would never be content, but perhaps here she got close. His hand patted himself on the tie around his waist as if searching for anything he had left behind, however as he felt, he was sure there was nothing. If she would not move nor say anything he would not for a while. Perhaps it was a dominance thing, perhaps it was showing her he could stare at her longer, it could have even been that he liked to see her squirm under his gaze, but for a few moments he watched her features in the moonlight. He observed how the silks moved and flowed over her skin and the way the wind shifted them like sand on the beach. He watched how her hair fluttered and twirled in the now lesser wind, recalling how wild it was up on top of the cliff. He observed her body, the shapes of it that clearly made her a woman, and then back to her face. The moment passed and he shifted to her side, as though ready to move on, a with a look to the path they came down he said. “I am heading back to the dormitory, are you going to stay here?”

Unexpected Views Part 2

Postby Savacea Jovellana on August 2nd, 2015, 8:27 am

She did not reply to Loda's reassurance, though the look she gave him held all that he needed to know. She was thrilled that he did not think her too weak, though weaker then him, and that it was okay to express her emotions. She did not understand why it made her feel better, that the man understand, but it just did. The way the words came out surprised her, they were soft and low, and she found herself fond of the way he spoke those words, how the caressed and eased her pain for a moment.

The two stood in silence for awhile, neither or them speaking. Perhaps it would of been awkward if it was not a comfortable silence that the fell into. It was as if he was assessing her again, she saw from the corner of her eye. The gaze did not hold anything other then observance, which she did not mind, she was quite used to the strange way the man would look over her as if assessing certain things about her and putting them into his memory. She supposed he wanted to learn of the Symenestra, if they ever became a threat to his people, he would know what to expect. She understood this, accepted it, and did not hold it against him.

His words pierced through the silence, his voice once again the same as she was used to, that of the Dovnada. He mentioned that he was returning to where they both stayed, the dormitories, and asked if she was going to stay here. She could not tell if he wanted the company on the way back, or if he would prefer her to stay here so he could collect his thoughts, so instead she asked a question in answer, "Do you think, perhaps, we could see each other again Dovnada?" She turned after saying the words, looking up into his eyes. She hoped she could see this man again, she was becoming fond of the him, trusting him a little but not fully. Savacea knew a part of her longed for friendship, though she was not sure if Loda wanted to same from her, so it was a question to answer all other questions, how he answered would tell her all she needed to know.

Unexpected Views Part 2

Of course the Symenestra could see his looks clearly. The thought didn’t cross his mind though as he could not see through her eyes at how clear everything was to her now. For him, he had to almost strain to see her, and wondered what she looked like under normal light. Out here she looked monstrous and strange, a powerful reminder of the few things he had seen in his life. The world was vast and to advance in rank, he had to know it and how to survive in it. He thought for a moment at her words, not being one to answer too quickly. He honestly didn’t see the harm in it. Not only was his arm strengthened a bit, but his evening was a bit more entertaining. A steady smile grew over his face as he thought. He looked down to the and and studied her feet, which in the sandals looked like a normal woman's foot.

“I think that would be for the best”, he said. She could take it how she wanted to. To him it was just simply that. He enjoyed her and thought it would be best to see her again. With that the man moved off to her side, around her, and then up to the pathway. As he climbed he looked up to the tower of Dira and wondered what strange place this was. Humans, Svefra, Myrians and others like her, all surviving together. Sure there was contention, sure there were rivalries, but they got along to a point. He swore though that he would never befriend a Dhani though no matter how friendly or kind they were. Having almost died to one as a youth turned his heart bitter toward their race and now being in the military and seeing what he has seen, he was downright wrathful toward them.

As he headed up the path, she was either behind him or beside him, but wherever she was, he minded his spear that it stay clear from her. The man seemed to have little to no possessions. He had the sandals upon his feet, the tattoos upon his skin, the spear, and a loincloth. What more could you need? Whatever else was in his room at the dormitories, but he didn’t need any of that stuff. He could hack his survival out of the wilderness. Upon reaching the top of the path he could see the ghosts had given up and gone back to the tower and he looked below or beside himself to make sure she had made it up the path alright. If she was silent, he would walk with her to the dorms likewise with eyes taking all the darkness and danger of the crag.

Unexpected Views Part 2

Postby Savacea Jovellana on August 2nd, 2015, 8:29 am

The smile on his face made him that more appealing, a man of few words as he answered in a short reply, not really answering anything inside her mind. Savaea supposed she should not really care what the reply was, but it did make a wave of hurt cross her face before she stopped it and replaced it with a smile that did not reach her eyes. Instead she nodded her head holding the smile for a few moments, before letting it drop. She walked beside the man, watching out for his spear. It was giant and complimented the large man well. She glanced at it and suppressed the image of it being shoved into her chest, for it would surely shatter her delicate bones to pieces, feeling that and the spear in her chest made her shudder slightly looking away from the weapon grudgingly.

They walked the rocky path to the Dormitories in silent a few paces, Savacea dilating her pupils to see the path more clearly before her so she did not stumble and fall. The residents did not find the path's difficult, it seemed they were used to the navigation of the city, but Savacea was still new to the place, learning of it's various features. The Symenestra did not mind the ghosts, it made her feel a little creepy at how they did not respect other's privacy when they stared or floated around people. The intense eerie feeling fell away soon though, replaced with slight irritation of the specters.

Savacea kept her eyes on the ground they walked on, dodging the stones, she shot her hand out quickly before Loda, "Watch out." Her tone was quick but still held the calm and softness from earlier. As her arm brushed against his tawny chest. She quickly removed her arm and pointed at the large stone he almost tripped over, "Didn't want you falling and getting hurt anymore then what you already have, from the climbing." She supplied looking him over and making sure he was indeed okay, then shaking off the feeling of caring whether or not he was. She was conflicted and it was causing her to become a little irritated. She was not sure whether to trust or care for Loda, be his friend, or to forget about him and let him go. A part of her wanted to hold on tightly to the possible friendship that could have, another just wanted to let it slip away before she became hurt by him, after all people only hurt you when you let them too close, or so Savacea thought from her past.

They continued their walk and the Dormitories loomed ahead, "Today has worn me out." She said chuckling slightly, as she yawned a little unladylike behind her hand. Brushing her fingers through her hair, she pulled it over her shoulder, so it was all on one side. Enjoying the feel of the cool breeze on her heated skin from the walk. She enjoyed the weather here on Black Rock, it was not overbearingly hot, moisture hung in the air, though at times it could be humid.

Unexpected Views Part 2

“Dovnada, Dovnada, Dovnada”

She had said the words again and in the silence he tried his best to remember them. He realized he had already nearly forgotten them. For this reason he repeated it in his head till it stuck. The interpretation fluttered through his head once more and soon he found himself on autopilot wandering along the edge of the crag.

He was not paying nearly enough attention because her her hand shot out and grabbed his chest. In her hand he could feel warmth, strength, and the ability to stop him from tripping over the rock. Yet despite all that he did not feel the sharpness of her claws. He could feel them surely on his skin, but they were light and graceful; used many times to grab whatever she had climbed upon. Snapping to, he stopped and as her hand left him he looked back to her. Her touch, while gentle, stung his scraped chest and yet he tried to endure.

“Thank you”, he said once she revealed why, and with a slight smile and stepped over the rock. She spoke to him as they approached the dormitories and the landing fanned out. The dorms were directly under the spire of Dira and was shown by a simple double door in the cliffside. Loda spoke back saying, “It was likely because of the wind…” he seemed almost factual about the statement. “It can dry the eyes, which tells your body that you are tired.”

They were on top of the spire’s mount after all and in the path of the most direct wind of the whole island. It could have also been because both of them exerted themselves a bit. Loda had to admit to her he was tired as well, she could see it when he stretched. “I feel tired myself. I’m sure the climbing did not help so much either.” Upon reaching the door he opened it and went in first, almost with force and then held it open for her. He closed the door, not letting the wind stop his strength as it blew inside. Once the door was latched he viewed the tunnel that led down into the common room, and even here he could hear the talk of the common folk of the island. He was in no mood for speech and if a ghost bothered him tonight he was going to speak to Kullin and have him put them in check.

The hallway was cramped and he could see how the little woman in front of him seemed to fit just fine. Coming into the main room he nodded to Kullin, who was behind the desk and the man nodded back. He didn’t say anything to the man and instead when they were to part ways, he would pause and smile to the Symenstra. “I had a good time tonight. Perhaps we can go out and experience the island and what it has to see in some other manner.”

If she was okay with that he would tell her “I must work the next two days, but aside from that, perhaps I will call on you after.” He listened to what she would have to say before going to his room to wash off his wounds and see about some sleep.

Unexpected Views Part 2

Postby Savacea Jovellana on August 2nd, 2015, 8:31 am

The way the man went through the door with such force made Savacea smile, she admired his strength, not just physically but of character as well. He held the door open, she could not suppress the smile it brought to her lips, Savages could be gentlemen after all went through her mind as she walked through the thresh hold. The way the buildings were built into the stone, made her think of Kalinor. Though it was not as magnificent nor held Kalinor's beauty, it was a nice memory of home.

They walked down towards the Common Room, Savacea trying to stick to the shadows not really wanting to be seen by anyone. She did not partake in the social activities of the crowd of diverse persons, in fact Loda was one of the first few people she talked to at length with in a very long time. It was a nice feeling to actually talk things out with someone, instead of holding everything in and being so quiet.

As they came to a place where they had to part ways, Loda smiled at Savacea telling her he had a good time, that they would explore the island further. The Symenestra could not help the smile that brought to her face, that reached her eyes, "I would like that very much." She said trying to hide the excitement in her voice. "Perhaps we can be friends after all.." Savacea thought to herself, but quickly dismissing the thought. She was not going to get her hopes up just yet, it was too soon to do so, and if she did then it was possible she would just get hurt again.

Loda mentioned having to work but in a few days he would be free for their exploration of the island. Savacea nodded her head, "Until then warrior of Myri, Dovanda." She grinned, giving him a wink, the words creeping off her tongue in a soft and whimsical tone, before turning and heading to her room. She could practically hear her bed calling out her name, it desperately needed a hug.
