23rd Day of Summer, 515 AV
Five and a half bells past noon
It was warm and sunny, the sky was clear and Syna's light cast down about the mountain tops with glee, dancing through the trees to light upon the Konti woman who sat beneath them.
Despite what might have been considered overly warm weather for so early in the season, Tanell enjoyed the gentle heat of the early season, having taken the time to hike the trails to the waterfall that most often struck her fancy.
Syna's light was all part of the appeal, lighting up the falling water and the shroud of mist, casting opalescent colors to light the water and the surroundings, it reminded her of the scales of the Konti, catching the light and glistening with color of their own making.
It was a beautiful place, and more so when it was so quiet, only the occasional hiker or picnickers coming through as the bells ticked passed. Even when they visited, it stayed mostly quiet, the aura of the falls befitting awed silence over boisterous chatter.
With the weather and the steady trickle of people, it made the perfect spot to catch a person or two to read the cards for. Her shady table just outside the reach of the spraying water was safe enough for her cards.
She had spent the day after her visit with Kaik getting to know the cards, reading the small book, and otherwise acquainting herself with the new deck, so today she felt more than ready to do readings for people at full price. She was alone for the moment, so she left her bag and her cards and found one of the more tranquil pools, recalling lessons from her sister on how to braid her hair.
It was something about the three main strands crossing over one another, over and over in a pattern working from the inside out. Or was it outside in? She couldn't recall.
She glanced at her reflection in the pool, separating out three sections of hair from the wavy mass that fell around her face. She pulled them from the front, the hairs that fell closest around her face. Those were the ones she wanted out of the way. She held it in front of her face so she could see the weaving, her fingers falling into place as she separated the sections.
She recalled now, the pattern was either direction, the middle moving around alternating sides, or the sides switching with the middle in turn. She moved slowly thought the twists, passing sections from one side to the middle to the other side, it was fairly simple once she had recalled the pattern. What grew difficult was when the hair began to run out, sections falling short so that she had to add hair from one section to another to keep the braid going. She managed with only a few small bumps in the braid, growing troubled once more when the hair became finer, the braid smaller. It was difficult with only the tips of her fingers to hold the hair in place.
