Fall had just begun. It was like the sprouting of a new flower. But it didn't smell like the sprouting of new flowers, at least, not as far as Kailey was concerned. There wasn't quite a chill within the air, or at least, not the sort of chill she remembered having occurred in her previous year of life. In fact, it was still pretty hot and felt a lot like summer to her. The world just hadn't reached its hand far enough into the autumnal season, at least, not as of yet. The grass was still green, swaying softly within a breeze, and the sun still floated high within a bed of pale blue, as there was hardly a cloud within sight. The air was fairly sticky, but not as intensely, she felt, as it had been during various portions of the summer season. In fact, in that regard, it was quite nice. But all the same, there was little to be done that day, so she simply spent it out within the city- discovering the sorts of plants that there were to be discovered. Or rather, discovering that there seemed to be nothing more than grass, although she could smell there being something more than the grass present. Which of course, could have been the food that people hoarded, and didn't share with her.

Which sucked, because she really liked food, especially when it consisted of vegetation type qualities. She sniffed the air again, and moved right around a section of tents. Kailey smiled as she skipped along, her dress whipping around her ankles. Her eyes taking in her surroundings, as she considered looking for something else to do. As searching for food didn't seem as though it were being even a little bit fruitful. (No pun intended). But she didn't know what else to do- as all the drykas seemed busy with their own tasks, and she had noticed that none of them really seemed like they liked being interrupted when they did those tasks, which wasn't much fun, as it made her feel even more alone while in this largely unfamiliar city. But what was she to do? Maybe she could find someone who seemed more approachable than the others, and someone, with which she could share a bite to eat, 'cuz her stomach was rumbling something fierce. .

A delicate bloom

Timestamp: 10th Day of Fall, 515 AV

It was hot, but there wasn't a cloud in the sky. It was a beautiful day, and Seirei wanted to make the most of it. Taking a walk with her new strider seemed like a good idea. It would give them both a chance to spend time together, get to know one another. And it just felt...right, somehow. Seirei felt nervous about walking through the city. As a captive, a lot of people had made their displeasure with her presence among them known painfully well. And there was Lian to consider, as well. What if he saw her? Would he do something?

Still, Seirei was no coward. She knew that she couldn't hide forever. She didn't even want to. If she did, those who had tormented her would win. Besides...Seirei wasn't a captive any longer. She was free. Since bonding to her strider, people had began treating her differently. As if she was one of them. It was a welcome change, even if Seirei wasn't sure she could trust it just yet since it was so new.

Seirei gathered Lukar and Lira, getting them settled in their slings. Then it was time to go. Seirei placed one hand on her strider's neck as she walked. Something about the physical contact felt soothing to both of them. It felt right. Thunder frolicked beside his mother, chasing a butterfly that had caught his attention. Seirei smiled at his antics. The young colt was full of new life, and new promise. Much the same way that Lukar and Lira were. Seirei wondered if Thunder would bond to one of her children some day as she had bonded to his mother. It would be interesting to see if that were the case. The future seemed a lot brighter to Seirei now than it had just a few short weeks ago. It was enough to make her smile when she thought about it.

Kailey skipped through the city, with a broad smile upon her lips. She kept her eyes peeled for the people who looked as though they were less busy than others. People who were walking from one task to the next, as opposed to being submerged entirely within one. She thought that these people were less likely to be bothered by one of her intrusions. Furthermore, she looked for people that appeared to be less grubby, and were wearing better forms of dress, as she thought that meant that they had more money to spend, and thus, likely more food to share as well. As she was bored with just skipping she decided to sing as she went along. Her tone was soft, little more than an out of tune, breathy whisper. (Breathy in that she had to take a lot of deep breaths in order to keep singing, more than anything else, as the task she found rather tiring, strangely enough. Or at least strange to her, as all it involved was the movement of her own lips, and a little bit of a rise and fall in her chest- which really shouldn't have been any tougher than regular breathing). Her song went thusly:

Sun is shinin' in the sky,
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped rainin'
Everybody's in a play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day.

Runnin' down the avenue,(Pant, Pant, Pant)
See how the sun shines brightly
In the city on the streets
Where once was pity,
Mr. Blue Sky is living here today.

[Chorus:]
Mr. Blue Sky, please tell us why,
You had to hide away
For so long where did we go wrong.

Hey there Mr. Blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around see what you do,
Everybody smiles at you.

Hey you with the pretty face,
Welcome to the human race
A celebration Mr. Blue Sky's
Up there waitin' and today
Is the day we've waited for

[Chorus]

Mr. Blue you did it right,
But soon comes Mr. Night,
Creepin' over, now his
Hand is on your shoulder,
Never mind I'll remember you this way-

Kailey was cut off, as she had gotten distracted after awhile. Closing her eyes as her body moved to the music, causing her to collide with someone and topple to the ground as the wind was knocked out of her. Immediately, she opened her eyes, and gasped as she wiped herself up and sprang to her feet, and surveyed the young woman in front of her. Who looked as though she could be her own age, although she supposed she was far younger. The woman was short too, with a slender, wiry build. She had thick black hair that ran down to her waist, and big blue eyes set into a slender face of tan skin. Kailey did her best to smile pleasantly, as she picked another little shard of grass off her dress, and flicked it onto the ground. Her cheeks reddening a little and growing warm. "Sorry about that... must not have been paying attention," she commented, a little bashfully. "You alright?" she asked in common, as she stuck her hand out to help up the woman, if she was still dazed and down.

OOCI do not take credit for the writing of the song in this post. It is done by the Electric Light Orchestra, or ELO, and is known simply as "Mr. Blue Sky." Just wanted to give credit where it is due.

Also, feel free to have the bumped into person be your own pc, or someone that looks frightfully like them, your call. Wasn't sure where Thunder would be in relation to your pc, so I didn't mention it. Hopefully that works out ok, just pm me if it doesn't, and I can tweak this a little.
