• S P R I N G ∞ 5 1 5 •

02 ∞ The Windborne pavilion arrived in Endrykas for the spring celebrations and the day of the big hunt for the king elk. Dravite spent the morning in the marketplace with his son Kyanite before going to the Emerald Clan to pray to his gods. He found his best friend, Belhatir, fighting with a man in a bar over some money he owed. Escaping with his friend quickly to their horses, the pair rode off into the Sea of Grass bordering Endrykas to hunt. They soon stumbled upon a lone buck which Dravite chose to attack without the help of Belhatir. His shot with the spear missed and Belhatir dealt a lucky blow to the buck’s head with one of his throwing axes. With the deer dead the two men argued about what they should do with it. Dravite believed it should be sacrificed to the gods to insure a lucky season while Belhatir, who holds little faith in the gods, pointed out that it was his kill and therefore he had final say. Dravite left Belhatir to drag the carcass home alone in search of something else to give to his gods.

03 ∞ Dravite had not seen his friend since the hunt the day before and went back to the bar the following evening to look for him. While in the bar he met a young lady by the name of Akilah. Dravite bought the woman a drink and they two spoke and flirted innocently for a while before Dravite admitted that he had a wife and child waiting for him at home. Akilah confessed how hopeless she had been at finding a match for herself and became upset. Dravite offered to walk her home, thus ending his little night out.

09 ∞ As the days passed Dravite became restless with his pavilion for staying in Endrykas so long after spending the majority of his years roaming the Sea of Grass alongside them. He found on the night of the 9th that he was too restless to sleep and left camp in search of something to hunt. On his travels he came across a young man with a hunting dog and after bidding them farewell, stumbled across the scattered remains of a Glassbeak. Curious as to how the animal had died, he followed a set of obvious tracks through the grass-lands until he lost sight of the trail and was forced to return home. On his way back to camp on the morning of the 10th, he came across a rabbit but was unsuccessful in his attempt to catch it on the end of his spear and had to return home empty handed.

18 ∞ Having finally found the courage to confront his pavilion as to the reasons they remained in Endrykas, Dravite decided to make himself and his family more comfortable. He took a lone stroll through the marketplace and purchased a few items his wife had requested for cooking. While he was there he also bought some new shirts and a leather tabard he would wear upon joining the men and women of The Drykas Watch.

28 ∞ Finally settled, Dravite felt it was time he went in search for The Watch and dedicated his morning to signing up as a new recruit. On his way to the camp site he ran into a young woman named Ethynia, who he found very endearing. He soon managed to convince Ethynia to join him as a member of The Watch. The two spent half the day training together before Dravite left to make his way home.

35 ∞ On a brisk spring morning the man snuck out of camp at first light to go on a long hunting trip. While traversing the grass-lands he came across one of the most beautiful creatures he had ever seen, a snow leopard; still wearing her thick winter coat. Dravite took his opportunity to sneak up on the leopard while she stalked after a fat, spring rabbit. He planned to kill the leopard and get her coat professionally handled by a skilled tanner to sell in the marketplace of Endrykas. However, his lack of skill with his spear saw his throw miss the leopard by a few feet and she dashed out of range before taking the form of a young woman. This being the first Kelvic Dravite had ever come across; the man was awed by her beautiful, and after apologising, offered to help her take down one of the deer he saw in the distance. Having agreed to his offer, Dravite slipped away to flank the animals, driving them towards Kahtra, who took down one of the deer with his mighty claws and deadly teeth. The two halved the kill and went their separate ways, Dravite returning to camp with a small feast for his pavilion.

47 ∞ Dravite spends the morning sparring with the members of The Watch. When he is called up to fight he does better than he thought he would and gives some advice to a young woman sat next to him who felt nervous about going up to battle. After watching a show by two of the higher ranking members of The Watch, Dravite left to do some weapon training alone, but was soon joined by one of the fighters who offered him a few handy tips. Satisfied with his progress and tired after the morning’s work, he left to venture out into the grass-lands in search of something else to do.

54 ∞ After spending the day hunting rabbits and checking his snares, Dravite returned to camp to work on his tanning abilities. He spent the evening skinning two rabbits with Kyanite by his side, and smoked the meat over a hot fire. When he left the fire pit to put his son to bed, he returned to find that one of the rabbits he had left to cool had been taken by one of the pavilion’s hunting dogs. Annoyed, he sat down to tend to the second rabbit only to find that he had over cooked it. A small meteor shower came down over night and on the morning of the 55th Dravite took Kyanite and Cree out of camp to collect some of the strange, dark rocks.

64 ∞ Dravite heads out for a hunt on the morning of the 64th when his horse is startled by a snake and causes Dravite to fall onto his back as the Strider gallops away. The young horse lord is bitten on the shoulder by an olive python and manages to kill the snake before it crushes his arm, though the experience does leave him feeling slightly shaken and numb. A stranger with black eyes from the mountains of Kalea follows his trail out into the tall grass and finds him near a stream where he washes his wound and shares the snake meat with the woman that goes by the name Mayra. Together they manage to start a fire and ask and answer questions while they cook thin slabs of the white snake meat. After a time, Dravite becomes suspicious of Mayra and grows angry when she refuses to answer his questions as to how she found Endrykas and what she plans to do during her stay. He intimidates the woman who eventually escapes on foot, leaving her dagger in the sand for the horse lord to keep.

65 ∞ The Bluevein River has burst its banks and members of The Watch are sent to investigate. Upon arrival, Dravite is encouraged to search the Drykas webbing in order to sniff out clues as to what might have caused the river to overflow, when he spots the trail of a wolf. The men are attacked by the lone creature who seems confused about where its home has disappeared to. Dravite suffers a light injury to his right forearm where the Wolf managed to bite him and is sent back to Endrykas to have it tended to by a healer. He escorts a woman by the name of Khida back to the city of tents along with her horse and foal.

65 ∞ Upon returning to Endrykas Dravite is introduced to a few of Khida’s friends [Placeholder]

72 ∞ It is early morning and still dark when Dravite is awoken by screams and the thundering of hooves across the plain. He sits up to find that the horizon is on fire and that the flames are fast approaching the campsite of the Windborne pavilion. Without delay he gets to his feet and starts waking the Windborne members while helping his wife and son to safely. He stays back to fight the flames with some of the other warriors from the pavilion but ends up losing his tent and sleeping roll.

82 ∞ On a routine watch to the site of The Serenity Tree, Dravite and the other Watch members are attacked by a winged man he later finds out is called a Zith. They manage to wound the creature and watch it fade in and out of consciousness in the treetops for a time before disbanding to see if there are anymore Zith to be found on the road north where the people of Endrykas are expected to pass through on their way to the summer grounds. He sings to pass the time with his good friend and pavilion brother, Belhatir, before reporting back to Aris with the all clear.

88 ∞ After spending the day hunting, Dravite returns to camp with a sizeable buck to carve up and smoke on the fire. He does a poor job of saving the pelt but manages to keep and cure it, rubbing salt into the flesh before hanging it up to dry. He notices his friend Belhatir being pulled aside by the Ankal and is later confront by his friend who admits to Dravite that he is leaving. With no intention to return, Dravite asks Belhatir to wait while he fetches the man some meat for the road, but when he turns back, Belhatir is already gone. He spends the night tacking his friend’s movements in the webbing, losing him shortly before dawn when the pavilion discovers that the Ankal has gone missing. Dravite is blamed for letting Belhaur slip away unnoticed and spends the next twenty-four bells looking for him.

90 ∞ The pavilion if forced to leave the spring ground of Endrykas without their Ankal. Dravite helps his people pack away their tents and gather the animals before it is time to leave. He catches up to the group and they cross the Iysan River at its lowest point before continuing on towards the summer grounds. On the night of the 90th of spring, Dravite is assigned with watching over the pavilion with the use of the Drykas web, but against all his efforts to stay away, be eventually drifts off to sleep and is rudely awakened by screams early the next morning. He finds the body of one of his kin mauled in the grass and fights a Grass Bear with the help of the pavilion to help save the dead man’s wife. As luck would have it, the bear ends up impaling itself on his spear, but after suffering a broken rib, Dravite is left in a lot of pain. Later that morning on the 91st, Dravite is voted out of the Windborne pavilion by its remaining members and forced to travel the Sea of Grass without the group he grew up with. His mother Lazuli, wife Belkaia, and son Kyanite, are all he has left in the world and spring ends unlike he could have ever imagined.

02 – Dravite is struggling to keep up while riding with a broken rib, and the group is forced to stop for him to rest. Once off his horse and on the ground, Dravite is taken by sleep, one of the only ways other than the web that he can escape the pain long enough to find the strength to continue on the road to the summer grounds of Endrykas. When he wakes, he finds his wife Belkaia and son, Kyanite foraging for berries; he discovers soon after that his mother Lazuli is missing. Belkaia explains that she had gone for water and the man becomes concerned when he finds out she has been gone for at least two bells. He knows there is no water nearby and goes looking for her. The horse lord soon discovers the remains of his mother’s Strider after a small pride of Night Lions has finished with it. Forsaken by Caiyha, he blames the goddess he has held in such high regard all his life and refuses to follow any longer. Dravite finds his mother only metres from their makeshift camp and his mourning slows the trip to Endrykas down, putting the group another day behind schedule.

03 – The dwindling group run into a young woman named Arandia, who Belkaia takes an instant liking to. Dravite, unconvinced, is wary of the lone traveller, but invites her to ride with them to Endrykas. They stop for a rest under one of the native trees and are treated to a story by Arandia. When they finally make it to Endrykas, Arandia advises them all to see a doctor being that she is an aspiring healer herself. The group part ways and the Blackwater trio are left to start setting up camp. Now that they are alone and cast out by the Windborne pavilion, Dravite realises how little his family has and wonders if they will even survive the summer.

05 – The Watch holds a meeting to plan the season’s schedule. Dravite shows up late and is confronted by Aris, forced to tell the story of his journey over the last few days. When the meeting breaks for lunch, Aris pulls Dravite aside and asks him to watch over a young man by the name of Roan Winterstorm. Dravite is convinced that Roan will come in handy during the summer season while he is recovering from his broken rib and accepts the proposal, leading Roan home that afternoon. The two get better acquainted over a trip to the marketplace and end up testing their weapon skills before Belkaia summons the horse lord to rest.

07 – Dravite takes a trip to the marketplace, not quite knowing what it is he is searching for when he comes across a young boy selling goats. Having considered starting his own herd for some time, Dravite chooses to buy two of the does, each with kids born in spring. Seven goats richer, he leads them home to show off to his family and Belkaia falls in love with them instantly.

10 – Dravite returns to work to help Aris monitor the movements of a group of Watchmen and women out in The Sea of Grass and is introduced to the art of politics. The pair talks about leadership and what it takes to run a group, pavilion, organisation, and city. Aris offers Dravite a book written by a Drykas captive who spent the summer with a power hungry pavilion, hell bent on getting their way, no matter the cost.

14 – While taking a leisurely stroll through the city, Dravite is stopped by a young woman offering to read people’s fortunes. The girl’s name is Rufio Wildmane, a beautiful young half-blood still working hard to earn her Windmarks and forge a special bond with one of the grassland Striders. The two seem to get on well; communication is easy and flows effortlessly. By the end of the reading, though unconvinced, he is glad to have met the young woman and happy to go on his way, richer for knowing her.

15 – After a hunting trip gone wrong, Dravite finds himself carting a large doe and her young fawn back to Endrykas. The man had sustained and injury to his head and now believes the live fawn is a message from Caiyha, an apology as it were, for taking his mother’s life. While selling the meat in the marketplace, he loses sight of his son, and panicked, goes looking for him. Dravite soon finds his boy playing alongside a woman with a familiar face, the godless woman from the mountains of Kalea he knows simply as, Mayra. After inviting the woman back to his campsite for a meal with his family, Dravite asks her to go hunting with him in the near future and the woman obliges, promising she will see him again in a few short days.

17 – While washing clothes and fishing in the Uvic River, Dravite is surprised to run into Arandia, the young woman who rode into Endrykas with his family at the start of the season. Joined by one of her friends; the two girls take turns teasing the man about his fishing methods before going on their way, but not before Dravite invites Arandia to join his family for a meal sometime in the near future. When he gets home, his wife Belkaia is more than happy to hear that she will soon be seeing Arandia again.

18 – Mayra returns as promised, though their day doesn’t go quite as planned. Instead of hunting game, the two go out in search of the infamous Ixam on the west side of the Uvic Lake. They manage to do a spot of tracking and Dravite records his findings in a blank book he has purchased to take notes on varying animal prints and behaviours. During their search, they come across a tree the creatures have taken a liking to and scattered all about their feet are a number of hard, petal shaped scales. Dravite spends most of the trip collecting the scales, figuring they might come in handy for a little project he intends to start later in the summer. On the way home he surprises Mayra with an unexpected riding lesson, who takes to the experience a lot like a fish out of water.

19 – After hearing rumours about a foreign horse with the ability to eat flesh, Dravite is compelled to go in search of more information about these aptly named Bloodbanes. He is told that a Drykas woman by the name of Kavala Denusk keeps and breeds the horses where she resides in the city of Riverfall. Dravite decides to write the woman a letter in the hopes of setting up a meet and greet where he might be able to inspect one of her animals, and all going well, purchase a Bloodbane for war training.

20 – After a successful hunting trip out in The Sea of Grass, Dravite returns to camp with two wild baby goats and enough goat meat to feed his growing family. He spends part of the morning butchering the animal and tanning the hide before offering the rest of the beast to the neighbouring pavilion. When he returns home he is approached by a familiar face, Raven Morningsong; the horse lord’s uncle. The two catch up and Dravite is forced to tell Raven about the passing of his sister Lazuli. Raven admits that he had come in search of Dravite to ask if he could join the Blackwater pavilion with his wife Yuki and unmarried daughter Sparrow. Dravite accepts but explains that he should run the idea by his wife first and the family later returns to share a meal and stories with their new friend Arandia Reddawn.
