Dramiana Rosenthal err Dra-Miana Noire Nickname: "Damiana" "Mia" Race: Mixed Blood (Alleged Symenestran Mother/Alleged Human Father) Birthday & Age : 485IV 18th Day of Fall, (24 years of Age) Gender: Female Height: 5'6" Hair Color: Black Eye Color: Amethyst Weight: 111lb Hair Style: Long, crimped, wavy, and wild. Complexion: Porcelain, very pale. Clothing: Draping black gown, tattered and frayed from long-usage. DESCRIPTION
“Damiana was used to being the outcast, however, and had made quite the occupation from being so. Hunched over, a perpetual dark cloud loomed over her personality as she herself tried to keep some optimism intact. The girl was nothing to look at, mainly because she did not take to wearing make up or fashionable clothing - choosing an introspective approach by keenly studying the craft for which she was cherished (be it only by her summons). Her hair was jet black and her pallor was suggestive of a cadaver, many mistaking her to be Nuit. Slender and frail of build, her teeth were wont to chatter. Her attire was languid and dark, just as she, and there were no breasts or hips well endowed like other women her age. She was small and fair, and any beauty upon her was hidden well beneath the bowers of brocade and organza. The only truly mesmerizing feature was the depths of her amethyst eyes, bequeathed by her long-dead mother.” CONCEPT
A summoner typecast as a villain due to her terrible misfortune and taboo practice. Finding it difficult to lodge anywhere due to a Cordas Curse, she travels in search of perfecting her art and uncovering the mystery of her mother's legacy by an elaborate quest detailed in her Grimoire Noire. She is frequently melancholy and jaded, though ultimately kind beneath her sardonic wit and rhetorical satire possessing a deep, though embittered, sense of regard for friendship. HISTORY
Born in Nyka to a Symenestran mother and a human father, Damiana’s true name is Dra-Miana, she not wishing to divulge her Symenestran heritage or stemming from allegedly "elite" bloodlines. Due to this, she usually prefers to be called ‘Damiana’ making up the surname ‘Rosenthal’ to avoid interrogation. Home-schooled, her upbringing was relatively simple, though she became disconnected with her god-father due to her rigorous study of dark doctrine. He ached for her to attend Zeltiva, but they didn't fare well financially with his fishing industry. Summoning circles and geomantic patterns were her friends. Dissonant from any semblance of social skill, Dra-miana had grown so aloof from her remaining family that her god-father walked out on her in search of a better life, accusing her of being, "dead weight." At the age of fifteen, Dramiana found no comfort in Nyka and sought refuge in various settlements relatively close by, eventually returning to the land of Nestra trying to seek guidance for her art form. This became unsuccessful and increasingly frustrating as time went on. Had Mizahar truly lost its greatest summoners? HEIRLOOM

For as long as the Noires could remember, they had paid devastating prices for cardinal sins; the kind of sins that blemish the reputations of many innocents for generations to come. Gods, after all, are the best moral accountants. Noires were rumoured to trace their roots to the city of Nykalia. Consequently, the Noires had been faithful followers of Aquiras for as long as any of them could remember: spanning the lineage by bearing a long line of male progenies. In fact, their family name was something of a misnomer – a nickname given by other summoners out of mockery for their various controversies and predicaments over the hundreds of years the family tree had been growing. Oh sure, hardly anyone wanted to bring up the Valterrian, but the shame certain summoners held was a a painful exasperation to an already taboo subject: having to migrate to Syliras after the shattering of the world, banned from practicing their sacred art, summoning (whether by them or others is not known) being responsible for the destruction of Nykalia, and, most notably, the humiliation of ‘The Doors of Night’ – a long extinct group of summoners in the Noire bloodline faithful to Aquiras whom focused not only on beckoning creatures from other worlds, but banishing people to these worlds as well. Travel, portals, and distant dimensions brought delight to the ancient family name, but those were days long passed. Back then, they were known as the Excursus family, often accredited as, ‘The Penitent Excursus’ in Alahean and Suvan tomes. Even in the rise of Suvan’s barbaric empire, summoning had never reached its glory days due to the treaty signed between the two nations. Still, the Excursus practitioners held fast their summoning arts, aching to study their dying traditions while fire and industry slaughtered most of their family line. During the Valterian, the struggle to find sponsorship and support for their practice after the cataclysm caused them to start encoding their texts in advanced cryptography to avoid persecution. Bad luck had branded them as, “Noires,” – the only opportunity to practice their art was having to endure occupations as mercenaries or slaves. Witnessing the humiliation of greater summons that the Noire family had passed from generation to generation (by sharing secret astral coordinates through inherited diaries) being reduced to menial tasks and labor, they all but bowed their head to the artform. Indeed, it was only through befriending Aquiras that they found joy in their practice – abandoning the fear of ‘quid pro quo’ and neglecting the notion that “higher beings” should induce fear into mortals. Noires were most prominently distinguished from other summoning families by their dual emphasis of Hypnotism along with Summoning. Several Noire-ancestors also stressed the importance of Webbing and Glyphing, usually travelling along with a companion highly trained in Auristics and Familiary (marriage into families possessing these skills was strictly enforced). Because of this, Noires lacked cheerful personalities and social skills, usually seen with their heads buried in books or other doctrine. However, this also made a Noire highly intelligent in their discipline. Were it not for their sobering and shameful past, their intellect had the potential to turn them into very arrogant individuals. That was when it happened – the Valterrian. Learning that the God whom they had praised so highly had succumbed to a sorcerer who soon proved himself to be a master of control was a terrible blow for them. Some had said that it was their renegade faithfulness that helped sustain the Fallen God (in addition to the Pycon), something that Sagallius was extremely suspicious of. Sagallius suspected their loyalty, and was wroth. For this, the last 10 generations have been marked with the Cordas Curse. To add insult to injury, Sagallius’ skills and Gnosis are highly sought after by Noire summoners in efforts to control their summons. Therefore, serving under Sagallius is bittersweet. However, Noires, to this day, still love and worship Aquiras in secret – rumoured to be apart of the few keeping him alive – though managing to keep the depth of their loyalty hidden from many deities, races, and clans. The Noires are, as a result, exceptionally secretive and closely guarded with anything pertaining to their family history – even if it has been diluted to several dozen races across Mizahar over the aeons – and do not readily divulge their name, craft, or history with those whom they do not implicitly trust with their lives. Resilience is their creed, holding sacred the art of summoning and the creatures and worlds summoning pertains to at all costs. Rigorous study and doctrine is homage to Aquiras by believing that the pursuit of knowledge and the journey of life are synonymous. Preservation of their Secrets has turned from a necessity into a tradition. Dra-Miana Noire was the first ‘monkey wrench’ in the family bloodline since its inception – being that she was the first female child in over seven hundred years (it isn’t known as to why the family kept siring males, though some had rumored that to be through the usage of secretive magics as well). On top of this, she was half-Symanestran, causing even more strain to bearing the heavy burden of Noire lineage.
