FALL 515, DAY 30, 7th BELL, Morning.
The dormitory, seemed cozy enough. Besides that there are other people sharing, why not just have simple bedrooms? Well, Adyel is a kid, but he still likes to know how things work. He wanted to draw that day. His plan of drawing was interrupted.
"Wake up," a boy screamed. "Do you want caretaker Lee, to find us all sleeping past wake time?" Adyel sat up in his bed, waking up slowly. He yawned a bit. He still doesn't know the layout of this building yet. And what does that other boy, mean by caretaker?
How do things run around here? "We have to make our beds and scrub the floor, and dust the walls and shine the door." The same boy announced. He put it into song form, on purpose? Maybe to have the other kids memorize there chores better.
"Not you new kid, caretaker Lee has too show you something." Adyel stood from his bed, tired. Wishing that he can go back to Riverfall. Where he grew up and where he was born. Maybe good father would come back, but just to see her dead?
The thought of his mother dead pained him. All those memories that he had of her made everything all the harder. "What does she have in mind?" Adyel yawned. "If you come to her office you can find out. But don't be so slow, go go go." The boy motioned Adyel to hurry up with his hands.
The young Kelvick put on his boots and hurried off to Lees office. Hoping that she won't scold him for doing something bad already, but what did Adyel do wrong? He has only been here for a day so far.
After a couple ticks flew by Adyel eventually made it to Lees office. He knocked on the door softly. Three times to be precise. "Come in," Thea said gently. Adyel turned the knob and pushed open the wooden door. The door creaked, "Come sit in one if the chairs. We have something to talk about." Adyel looked around her room.
The room is more of a bedroom than an office. But from her layout it's decent. The dark haired caretaker, is sitting in one of her chairs behind a long desk. Adyel smiled and nodded. He let his legs do the choosing to which seat he shall sitin that is in front of the wooden desk. "Did I do something wrong Ms. Lee?"
Her expression was happy, but from the information since he had been here was given to him. He was told the senior caretaker does not enjoy being around with children. Although she takes care of them in ways that can be imagined.
"Oh, no no no. I just want to know a bit about yourself. If that is ok with you my young Adyel?" Adyel felt a bit confused the way she said his name made the feelings about her feel more suspicious. "Ok, then. What would you like to know?"
"Hmm, well to be honest I haven't really done this with new kids in awhile. Let's start by. Your favorite interest?" She gave out a weak smile. Adyel was still confused, "What do you mean by interests?"
"Well, like what do you love to do?" Thea replied. She positioned a Quill on her desk that was out of lined. The ink was dry if course otherwise she would have cleaned it. "Oh, well I like to draw..." She nodded.
"Perfect, what else?" It feels like Thea is forcing herself to chat with Adyel as if she wants to get this conversation over with. "And run that is about it."
"Alright, well do you understand how things are run around here?" Adyel shook his head. "Ok, I'll explain it. To begin we normally want up around the 7th bell in the morning. Flying chores and cleaning the rest of the building like cleaning up recent messes that have been made previously and everything had been put away " Adyel nodded.
"After that is taken care of we have the kids, go to classes. Learning about the history of Mizahar and the other cities. Along with other subjects." Adyel felt a bit uncomfortable. He changed position. Trying to get that sense of comfortability back. But there should be no reason that he should be uncomfortable. Maybe it is because he is alone with the senior caretaker. And the fact that everybody doesn't enjoy having her company made him worried and frightened.
"We also have a music class if you are interested." Ferrin gathered up the schedule through his mind. Thinking of how his daily life would be, for about the next month or year. So cleaning, classes, lunch. Do we get any time away from the building? "Do you have any questions Adyel?" He thought for a moment. "Um, just out of curiosity. Do we get to have free time at all?" Hoping that he used the right words.
"Free time? Oh I think I know what you mean." She glared at Adyel, it felt like she can see right through him. Studying him with her mind, as if Adyel is some sort of interesting artifact. She added, "After your classes and everything else is done and one of us caretakers say that your cleared. That is when you eligible for the free time."
Adyel wished again that he would be with his mom. Didn't she say something about another family? Where that family had a kid named... Revali? Well Adyel hopes so. Maybe he can write them a letter. He just has to remember where they lived. And he'll be set.
The thought of having free time made him feel better. Another knock came from the door and Thea stood up. "Well, Adyel it's been a good chat. I'll send you back up to the dormitory got now. And I'll announce when classes start."
So Adyel stood up, and walked towards the door. When the door opened a lady came through. "Welcome," Thea told get guest. "Come sit." And after that Adyel closed the door and headed towards the staircase that was close to the dormitory for boys.
Well that chat was certainly interesting.
