Loda enjoyed the silence between them, yet found himself missing her voice. She required of him assistance and he gladly provided it. Reaching out his hand he was slightly nervous about her claws, but just like fingers, he found her to be quite in control with them. As she grasped his hand he could feel all the things he secretly desired to know: how her skin felt, what her grip was like, did her claws cut flesh. Each of these were answered to a degree as he was able to not only safely pull her from the muck, but do so unharmed. He could feel the strength in her bone structure, as if her hands were designed to dig into someone’s flesh. He couldn’t place whether her hands were soft or whether they were rough. Perhaps it was something else about her he didn’t know about, but something eluded his senses.
Now that she was out he watched as she did her little footy mud dance and scrunched up her nose. The paint that was on her face would not leave so easily as it was a stain but he thought she was a bit attractive as she twisted her leg about. Quickly he put that aside and now that she shrugged and was ready to go, so was he. Without effort she bounded up the rock next to him and he had to take his time, not wanting to make much noise. He looked for handholds and found them considerably easier to find on this than on the cliffside. It wasn’t long before he was up to the top with her.
Savacea seemed to be collecting a few different things from about herself. Loda let her look while he took a military trained scan of the area. He segmented his sight-lines and panned about in a small circle. It didn’t take him very long before he noticed rising smoke about thirty feet away from them on the far end of the rock outcropping. There was only one, so it was likely a solitary hut belonging to a Dhani. He still didn’t want to tangle with one here, especially a big constrictor. Slowly he bent back down into the fog and put a finger to his mouth to her. With a strange symbol he tried to communicate that someone was ahead, but if she didn’t understand he just pointed forward and shook his head no. He would then point his finger to the side and showed they would go back that way. If she looked that direction, it would seem as if there were patches of moss with water between them. Little reeds lined the surface and large tuffs of grass were there. It looked like there was more mud and muck for them, but it didn’t look as deep as the path they just came across.
Loda tried to move slowly down the rock and wanted to get some distance from the hut before talking to her again. The process was a little slow, but once they were about fifty feet away he felt comfortable whispering to her. “Dhani hut. I’m pretty sure. I saw smoke rising from the fog ahead back there. What did you grab?” he climbed up onto one of the grassy embankments and sat there, waiting to see what she had for him. All around him were cattails and he intended to tell her that what they could be used for, but still his eyes scanned the area just to make sure they were not being followed.
