Appearance

Race: Human

Age: 23
Birthday: 79th of Spring, 492
Birthplace: Zeltiva

Appearance: Grix looks a little young, but he's got a brawny voice to him that sounds a bit weathered. He's got a slim physique with broad shoulders and close-shaven black hair as well as light stubble along his chin. With callous hands, his fingers are bitten to the nail and his sun-tanned skin is usually caked with dirt. He's got a grin with all the teeth intact, and they're seemingly white from taking care of them though not quite that bright. His face is very expressive, possessing bright green eyes that stand out from the dirt and filth as well as noticable eyebrows.

His short stature hardly intimidates anyone, but he usually carries himself with an intense and focused calm that can be slightly unnerving. He prefers to wear a hooded cloak over some basic clothing and fitted boots. When he's up to no good, he's got a whole ensemble of gear to put on. He swears by spidersilk leather, really likes the way it feels and it's got just enough protection. There are daggers located all over his person when he's all dressed up, but he usually takes at least a couple with him everywhere he goes.

Character Concept
He's learned, with a bit of Zeltivan education and some street smarts. He's also what you would call machiavellian, always double dealing and looking to get the cards in his favor if he can get away with it. Grix is a narcissist and he'd sooner trade another life for his own to keep breathing if he were in that sort of predicament.

Grix doesn't care much for the gods beyond Krysus since he's already got too much to deal with in Sunberth. While it's difficult for him to let things go, he can be patient when his sense of caution tells him to be. Grix typically won't get himself involved in anything he thinks he can't handle, but he isn't a good judge of his own skill. He appreciates the violence in and around Sunberth, since the guise of chaos is a great distraction.

Grix is neither quiet nor loud. He's either when he wants or needs to be, and he's the type to change on a dime as the situation calls for it. If he thinks he can benefit in some way, he might very well placate or romance someone he hates just to get the upper hand or scrounge for dirt on them. In terms of actual romance, he doesn't care about any of his partners and doing so is usually only to fit his agenda.

Seeking constantly to improve himself and learn about whatever he can, he has a slight curiosity mixed in with an abrasive and callous personality. He speaks, usually, with a carefree and defiant attitude that is easily antagonistic. Because of this, he gets into fights frequently.


Character History
Grix was the child to a couple from Zeltiva, though they themselves were from Eyktol. His mother worked for the Zeltivan government, and his father was a freelance ruffian or 'interrogator' who had plenty of work. As a child, Grix was tortured by his father with knives, isolation, and broken promises. He never really got to know his mother, as she was all but absorbed in her work and rarely ever showed her face aside from the occasional romance with his father. As he aged, he hit a rebellious stride and began to live on the streets of Zeltiva for a few weeks while he saved up coin to leave the city, evading the Wave Guard and aided by a Svefra merchant who taught him a few words in Fratava.

Throughout his childhood, he was taught Nader Canoch, a language his father had learned during shady dealings with a Nuit before Grix was ever born. His father wrote journals in the ancient tongue, and he would borrow them to decipher them. All he learned was how twisted his father really was, a mad man hell bent on dragging down everyone around him. Distanced from his father, he looked to the horizon and wondered what his life would be like if he took it by the horns. Caught by his father one day, he was forced to relinquish the mizas he earned in exchange for his life. Having no other option, he stowed away on a wagon to Sunberth, but he was forced to flee into the wilderness when he was discovered halfway into the journey due to his circumstances of near starvation.

The wilds were brutal, and he went for days before he was able to catch a bird that gave him enough energy to finish the trek with his life intact. He isn't sure what changed him more; the brush with death, or the pain he endured at the hands of his father? He weakly shambled into Sunberth, accompanied by patient birds of prey that sought to descend upon him if he faltered. It was a harrowing experience, one symbolized by the theft of some basic clothes that signified a new beginning. From the bottom of an ocean of scum, he vowed to make something of himself. He would never again underestimate a journey whether it be a single step or a million.

For a long while, he meditated over his pain and suffering, staring at himself in the shards of a broken mirror that he had long since smashed. He rose and fell like a crimson tide, each instance peeling away the paint of who he was. It was then that he self-discovered Hypnotism, or, as he calls it, 'Knowing'. This 'Knowing' further reinforced his belief that he was on the right path and that he was justified in what he was becoming.
