I am interested in developing the Food Preservation skill, I want to drop this here to see if there is any interest from anyone who would like for me to develop on this.

Azmere and Amunet also have an interest in developing this and will be helping to develop this if we can generate enough interest!

These things would fall more into lore for the philtering or cooking skill trees than anything else. I think there really isn't a way to 'master' food preservation so to speak -- it was something everyone had to do in the old days, and I feel like this would be common knowledge to merchants and cooks (and philters).

I want to stress this is my opinion and I love that you guys are excited in doing a skill write up, and that I could be very wrong with this. If enough people want this skill written up, I say go for it!

Food preservation is an exciting lore for me.

Brines you may want to add.

This does touch on cooking but this preserves food for future cooking and storage. In a land without refrigeration preserving for storage is a massive survival skill for a world like Mizahar.

Synopsis: Food Preservation is a means to be able to remove bacteria and micro-organisms, as well as preventing the oxidation of fats, to provide a longer shelf life for foods. Especially useful during winter months when food can become more scarce. If done properly some foods can be stored for weeks, months and possibly even years. While most preservation methods tend to keep the same texture, flavor and nutrient values of the food being stored, there are some methods that can completely change the texture, taste or smell of the food. To some this is actually a desired result; such as butter, cheese or some pickled items.
