Band/Artist:
halou

Track/Album:
Honeythief / Wholeness and seperation

Right i'm hitting ya with a double whammy today. I present to you Halou. one of the most acoustically interesting bands I've heard. They have an underlying weirdness to them that i thing is exceptionally well contrasted with the singers voice.

This is the kind of music I imagine Ionu would be chilling out too, just weirdness and insanity behind a veneer of calm and stability. Please I implore you guys to look these bands up. Experience more of their music if you do in fact enjoy the music they produce. four of the seven down now and three more songs to come.

Band/Artist:
Halestorm

Track/Album:
Mz. Hyde / The strange case of...

Thoughts:
Me again, i know i'm throwing these up like candy. Still this is number 5 in my list of seven.

I present to you all halestorm. One of the bands I first found my way towards when looking for more female metal vocalists. Granted they're more like hard rock but this is one of their songs that i feel personally has a stronger metal feel to it. I love this song and it actually works pretty well for Cyrene too considering her shifts between an ultra grumpy Isur and a rather light touched and carefree Lethefel. Still I hope you enjoy the music and look forwards to the two more to come.

Band/Artist: Made in Heights

Track/Album: Pirouette

Thoughts: Hello fellow music lovers. I thought I'd share the hidden gem known as Made in Heights.

This band is actually a power duo; Kelsey Bulkin and Sabzi. Between Bulkin's haunting, ethereal quality and Sabzi's hip hop background, they manage to be smooth and lyrical, yet sharp and percussive. The fusion is nothing short of extraordinary. Further the whole album is incredible. Every song has its own unique character. It is one of those albums that is perfect from start to finish - in fact, I'm still wondering why they aren't more popular than they are. Anyway, I've never met a Made in Heights song that I didn't like and most of them, I love.

Enjoy!

Eosi, Made in Heights sound really great! Definitely going to listen to more of their songs after this. They also get a plus for having one called Murakami, haha.

Band: ONE OK ROCK
Track: Mighty Long Fall

Thoughts: I feel like it's my duty to add some Japanese music to the pile. ONE OK ROCK is a solid rock band and has been since 2005, but I feel their sound is slightly different from 'Western' rock music, although I'm not sure how. Taka's vocals are certainly impressive and his presence in the videos and on stage is breathtaking. (Look what he does with the mic!) They have lots of great songs and a couple of albums out.

Just thought I'd pop in and say that I'm slowly working my way through, listening to what you guys posted, and you all have a great taste! ^_^
  • Wikus (Release, Imagine Dragons): That was a really lovely track, I've heard of Imagine Dragons (pretty much just from that Radioactive song you mentioned), and I liked them a little. But the acoustic-ness is really nice. Kind of rough, which is interesting.
  • Cyrene (Pale, Birthday Massacre): You mentioned this band in chat a while ago, and I remember having a listen then, but kind of half-heartedly. But this is awesome, and it finishes too soon :( I think they've been added to my Spotify playlist haha
(Going to Hell, The Pretty Reckless): I think all that needs to be said for this is: *is head-banging*
  • Ixzo (10,000 Emerald Pools, BORNS): I've never heard of this person/band, but it was really nice! I have to be honest, I thought it said Bjorn at first (O.O), my bad. But I really enjoyed it, so again I'll probably go ahead and listen to more...
I'm going to get round to listening to everyone else's contributions in a little bit, but I'll just add a track from an artist I've been listening to a lot recently, which is:

Gabrielle Aplin is such a bittersweet singer, and the songs are so catchy, and singable- apart from the fact she sings about as high as a bat, and so my voice can never reach those heights... -.- hope you guys enjoy :)

Artist
Lord Huron

Track/Album
Meet Me In The Woods/Strange Trails

Its exam season, at least it is here in the UK, so I've been burning through my YouTube recommendations list. This is song is part of Lord Huron's second album which has taken a slightly darker tone in some places and I don't know if I am trying to force it but some of the songs really make me think of my character, Sunberth and Mizahar in general. I wasn't sure what song to even choose from the album, I think its got a nice range and there is a couple of songs in it that would probably appeal to most people. If you're into the whole sudden indie folk scene but want something that sounds a little less manufactured and has a distinctive edge then I think you might enjoy this. (By the way, I know absolutely nothing about music)

Band/Artist: Ivan Torrent (ft. Julie Elven)
Track/Album: One Of Us

Thoughts: I noted a significant lack of "Epic" soundtracks, so I thought I would provide one of my more recent favourites in the field. Ivan Torrent has some pretty splendid stuff posted, occasionally featuring other artists or singers to provide vocals of some sort. Powerful soundtracks like these inspire me, and I can lose myself in them for hours and just ride on wave after wave of emotion while conquering my inner fantasy world.

Band/Artist:
Dream Evil

Track/Album:
Chosen Ones/Dragonslayer

Thoughts
Right my latest entry into this is a band i love called "dream evil." And this song in particular has a sense of grandeur built into it that builds and builds and then when the backing vocals hit it feels huge. This is my particular pick for what i imagine the Knights of Syliras march into battle too.

This song is a love letter to battle anthems, and it's one that I adore. It just feels so much larger than it has any right too. At least that's how this metal head feels. It's possibly the addition of the violins that bring it just that step larger.

This is music that I write too when I feel I need to impart some spectical and some sense of weight to a situation. Especially with the quiet moment just before the end. It helps build that sense of dread, for the big finish.

Band/Artist:
Machinae Supremacy

Track/Album:
A view from the end of the world/ A view from the end of the world

Thoughts
A view from the end of the world, a long name for a song from the mand machinae supremacy, these guys i find awesome because they take certain sound bytes from old video game sounds tracks and form them into their own fully fledged songs. This one in particular is great.

This is not the one that i started listening to these guys from, no that was "Player One" but i felt this song fit the theme of miz a little better mostly as it deals with the end of things, a clash of the gods and then the birth of a new world from the ashes.

This is fast paced metal music which fits me and my love of metal perfectly. Please feel free to enjoy and I'll be bringing more female metal artists soon.

Band/Artist:
Icon for Hire

Track/Album:
Cynics and Critics / Icon for Hire

Thoughts:

Right. Back on topic i've still got another couple of these to go so i present to you. Icon for hire. I absolutely love most of their stuff. It has a wide swing from calm and warming to fast paces and cold. It's strange and interesting and this is one of those cases where the Singers voice melds very well with the actual tune.

This is music i listen too when i need ot plan something out or picture something i;m doing and the character is constantly being told their doing it wrong or doing it the least optimal way or they need to do it like this or like that. Still this is the band i listen too for that sort of thing. Please enjoy and 1 more artist to go from me :D
