Thanksgiving Belly Bustin'

So another year has come and gone in the universal blink of an eye, and for some of us, we can't help but think about the larger number of years previously spent sitting around the table on this very same day. Now the day is over and everyone has eaten at least once today and it seems there's always something different on everyone's table; a unique dish that positively makes the meal.

Now I in particular didn't have the turkey day with actual family but a group of friends instead. And while family would have been preferable I had my reasons but as it turns out this was a good day all the same. Granted......we all started drinking at 9:30am :paranoid: we didn't actually go full hog until we woke up from the customary after meal nap. So during the full day of cooking, noshing, drinking, and ever present laughter we told stories about that "one dish".

Some had a story about a cabinet full of china and crystal falling over and everything being broken save their mothers favorite cup. Or how someone actually set fire to the bird and they had to...no, no; they crashed my place because they burnt up the turkey :disgust:. But whatever the case it was fun and we all got back down to our eastern shore roots and that is supremely satisfying.

My "one dish" is sweet potato biscuits. OMG do I love those things. My grand parents make them from time to time but on thanks giving, when I was still very little, my great grandfather used to sing while he helped make them. Now he was true blue, dead to rights eastern shorebilly since his mother was one of the few people that lived on Assateague island.

He would sing songs I can't even find the lyrics for. A story about a man having to stop the Old Number 9 train before it ran off of a broken bridge. Something about catching a blowfish. A story about a talking dog. It was really hilarious to try and explain the songs to a buzzed crowd. Everyone ended up calling them Singing biscuits instead of sweet potato biscuits.

And now that I've explained most of my day minus the two hours of teaching everyone how to skateboard, it's time to share yours :D So what's that "one dish" and the story that goes with it?
