Aladari has a warm skin tone and dark, shimmering hair, shining with an almost golden-green highlight, as is characteristic of Vantha. She is a modest 5' 1", and 110 pounds. Her petite frame is noticeably muscled only in her upper arms from where she has lifted nets and anchors, and rowed often.

Aladari's hair is usually kept down, contrary to popular Vantha fashion. She enjoys seeing her hair blow about in the wind at sea, so, troublesome as it might be, she leaves it undone. Her clothing is modest and simple, consisting of only a white shirt and brown pants. Her cloak is black and sits about her shoulders when worn, though she does not often keep it with her. Instead, she dons Morwen's gnosis to keep her warm. The snowflake shape sits upon her left shoulder blade, often hidden by clothing.

As all Vantha, Aladari's eye color varies with her mood, and appears as follows. Any combination of the below may exist in swirls, spots, or layers.

Character Concept

Aladari is a wild child. Raised among sailors, she learned early to speak loudly and live quickly. She loves to gamble and to drink, and has slowly developed an addiction through her time in Sunberth. She does not necessarily enjoy other dangerous activities such as brawling, though.

Aladari's greatest fear is growing up. She left home at a young age, and so always saw herself as that frightened child. Some days, she feels herself growing older, and these are the days that she ignores through her various methods.

Though her voice and general manner may be intimidating, she has a soft spot for the underdog, and is dead-set on helping anyone she might find in trouble.

She is not generally a lover of animals, and usually sees them as little more than tools for humans. Fish feed her and help her earn a living, while her dog keeps her and her possessions safe. This reflects her attitude towards humans as well, so, her passion for the underdog persists through animals, and compels her to rescue those in trouble.

As much as Aladari enjoys the nightlife, her days are filled with her true favorite activity: fishing. The waves and the tension of a fishing line are what she lives for, and the smell of fish is home to her. The activity reminds her of her parents, of their home (be it memories of Zeltiva or dreams of Avanthal), and of the faint connection she still holds with Morwen. One day, she promises, she will buy a boat and become a real fisherman, but for now, she spends her time sitting on the docks and the shores, pulling small fish from the shallow waters.

Character History

Childhood :
Aladari was born to two members of the Coolwater hold. Her parents were both sailors, with her mother a helping hand on deck and her father helping row smaller ships. With the amount of time they spent on seas and in and out of ports, it was really no surprise that Aladari was not born in Avanthal. Instead, the baby Vantha was born in Zeltiva. Once her parents realized that it would be good for their child to stay in one place, the entire family settled down in Zeltiva, taking on the life of fishermen and dock hands by the shore. Aladari has no clear memories of Avanthal, and dreams of the place frequently.

Aladari was raised to speak the Vani tongue by her parents, and was taught to praise Morwen, but most of the rest of Vantha culture was lost to her. She learned Common soon after she became of school-age, but years in the marketplace gave her an affinity for Fratava as well. The young girl loved the life she was given. She spent hours bartering with sailors in the marketplace and preparing the fish for market with her parents. Her spare time was spent fumbling with a fishing pole and struggling to sail a three-man boat on her own. However much she failed, though, she learned just as much, and eventually she grew into a proud woman with her own homegrown love for the sea.


Early Teenage Years :
At the age of 15, she felt ready to go on her own. Her parents resisted the idea, and tried to persuade her to stay, but when they realized her determination, they eventually gave in. They gifted her with a grizzly old guard dog, promising that they would come visit her often. They sailed her a ways, but eventually Aladari had to take her own path.

She jumped from ship to ship, travelling mindlessly from location to location without ever really knowing where she was. Until, finally, in the Summer of 514, she arrived at a place that seemed homely enough. It had a bar full of drunk fishermen and a dock surrounded by water, so Aladari unloaded her few belongings and bought a home for herself.

Living in Sunberth with just her dog, Tar, Aladari enjoyed the all-but-quiet life of a fisherman. Though Sunberth was not as kind as she was used to as a child, Aladari adjusted quickly to the trust none mentality of the town. Of course, this didn't mean she didn't chat, drink, gamble, or have some kind of fun with anyone who passes by. It only means she didn't let down her guard.


Late Teenage Years :
In the Fall of 516, Aladari reached a turning point. After yet another attack in Sunberth, and a sudden feeling of insecurity, Aladari knew she had to go somewhere else. She couldn't go home and show her family that she had failed in her endeavors, but she longed to be closer to home. So, Aladari took a Wind Eagle with a trade caravan all the way to Sylira. In Sylira, she sought comfort and safety. Even though at the time, the Vantha and all followers of Morwen were being hunted, she found that there were many willing to help, and she was introduced to a new way of life.

Current Day

Location: The Wilderness

Housing: Aladari currently resides in a four-person tent. She sleeps with Tar and Mikkie as guards (although the cat is not so good at the job), and spends her days fishing in nearby ponds and lakes.

Aladari Coolwater

Race: Dog, Mutt

Relationship: An old grizzly guard dog was given to Aladari by her parents when they learned she was leaving for Sunberth. He was given the name "Tar" by her parents, for the dog's black fur. She took him with her on her trip, and so the dog is well-adapted to riding on the sea. He enjoys water very much, but swims less and less as he ages. In fact, he is close to being blind, but his hearing is adept, and he is still capable of guarding.

Mikkie

Age: >1

Race: Cat, Coon

Relationship: A rescue from Tar's sharp jaw, Mikkie is Aladari's newest family member. She is small in comparison to the dog, but still large for a normal cat, and is said to grow massive when mature. She sports bright orange, very fluffy fur that almost distracts from her missing front paw. Despite the handicap, she is a force to be reckoned with, and softens only to food or lots of love.

Buella Coolwater

Race: Vantha

Relationship: An old soul full of wise adages, awkward humor, and mediocre music, Aladari has always adored her mother's strange ways. Though often percieved as cold and distant, even to the point of having her children call her by her first name, Buella is far from uncaring. She is typically just lost in her own head, and unaware of what might be deemed bizarre.

Relationship: Okara was met when Aladari visited Mura in 505 AV. The two were both young and easily excited, so they were very happy to share a picnic with each other on the beach and share stories of their homes.

Relationship: Tap is someone Aladari met long ago, in her short stay on Mura as she was traveling to Sunberth. The pair were both young and curious, and spent a good amount of time playing on the ship and sharing stories of adventure.

Relationship: The relationship between Aladari and Chase is best described as one of reluctant partners. Chase promised to protect Aladari at the signal of her whistle, while Aladari promised to deliver all information relevant to Chase's unknown origins. The arrangement was made on the 1st of summer to 516 AV, at their first meeting.


Akhen

Relationship: Aladari first met Akhen on a quest to investigate the slabs in Summer of 516 AV, where he saved her life multiple times. Again, days later, Akhen saved Aladari when she was under the influence of the new local drug and nearly mugged. She feels indebted to him, and is a bit in awe of Akhen's physical prowess and hardened attitude.


Riluc Lorrani

Relationship: As a wilder of Caihya, Riluc is a quiet friend of Aladari's. Both enjoy being out in the forest, and shared a day of fishing and tales with Autumn Leithea. The two met again on the quest into the temple, and Riluc, like Akhen, protected Aladari, creating a strong bond.

Relationships: Autumn was a part of the fishing and story-telling with Riluc, which is where Aladari met her. Though suspicious of Autumn's friendly nature at first, Aladari eventually warmed up and enjoyed the girl's presence. Aladari also met Marjorie on the same day, and though she enjoyed speaking to her, the two did not speak very much.


Grim Ravenwood

Relationship: Aladari met Grim under tense circumstances in the Summer of 516 when they worked together to help the sick and dying at the orphanage. Although the relationship was not explored much farther, Aladari was taken by Grim's knowledge of the Vantha.

Relationship: Deliath was first encountered in Summer of 516 when the two discussed the fate of the slabs in the mansion. Although originally taken aback by Deliath's gentle ways, Aladari soon warmed up to her.

Relationship: Bones is Aladari's combat trainer as of Summer 516. Aladari is a little unsettled by the Dhani's fierce and brooding presence, and so the relationship did not expand beyond a business exchange.
