Even though the storm that had cut him from all his pod happened not far from Kalista Island, the journey took Irwin a little bit more than a day. Considering the damages of his ship, the Svefra sailed slowly to reach its destination. The wind was in his favour but never he did set the headsail, too afraid that the mast would finally break and collapse. And each time he could hear the wood creaks under the force of the wind, his heart was skipping a beat, persuaded for a short moment that the sail would tear the mast in half under the pressure, leaving him in the middle of the sea for Laviku knows how long. He could have still given it a try and swim to the island, but it was definitely no area of expertise of his. “What a shame for a Svefra” he thought when the sad conclusion came to his mind.
He prayed for the whole journey to Kalista, hoping the mighty god of the seas would be merciful. And he was. After a night spent struggling against a harassing sleep —fool he would have been to close his eyes for more than a few seconds; there it was, the land he wanted to see so desperately since he had come out of the storm. Not a moment since the beginning of the journey he had thought of his pod missing in action, not a minute for those he loved and was part of his family, too busy he was to sail and wait for this piece of ground in the middle of the Suvan waters. But when he finally saw it, his emotions caught him back. Until this very moment he still hoped to see a ship he would have known, a familiar flag floating in the wind. But there was just the island.
For what was almost a minute Irwin cursed the bloody sea spray until he realized that there was none and that it was no water from the sea that was leaving a salty taste on his lips. With a shaking move of the hand, he wiped the tears going down on his cheeks and shook his head. He had no clue of the tragic fate of his pod, no evidence that he could be the last Seatrader in Mizahar. So he held on to this thought and started to maneuver in order to accost. Once moored, he stepped on the ground, looked up at the temple with a smile and started to climb the stairs.
