1. Appearance
Age: 22 Gender: Male Race: Human Date of Birth: 47th, Winter, 493AV Height: 181cm/5'11 Weight: 81kg/178lbs
Fluent: Common Alistair is a Human male just short of six feet with a balanced muscular figure attained from disciplined exercise and training. He has kept hair with a strong jawline, light blue eyes and a signature frown. The most notable feature is probably the scar that cuts across the bridge of his nose to his right cheek, an injury he’d sustained during a melee.
Alistair is usually seen wearing armor with his sword at his belt.
2. Personality Seemingly frolicsome and witty in nature, Alistair is far from what he portrays on the surface.
Alistair is probably best described as a disciplined pragmatic, generally sacrificing moral and ethical implications while making decisions in order to seek out the most practical end result. That being said, he is not one without emotion. Sometimes the course of his pragmatism pains himself more than it does others. Whatever he feels inside however, he does not show. Alistair demonstrates strong diligent leadership presence and is influential to those around him. He rarely ever follows through a decision without forethought, and considers consequences thoroughly before taking action.
As a result, he is often misjudged to be uncaring of his peers, frequently sparking conflict while dealing with others. What others perceive is not entirely untrue however, as he deems few other people trustworthy of him opening up to.
Most of the time one could expect from him a sharp tongue and witty comebacks, as well as a certain superficial aloofness.
3. History Alistair Vaetryn was born to the Syliran Captain Knight Ser Maver Vaetryn. Ever since the day of his birth his father had no other plans than to have him succeed his role as a knight of the order. Alistair’s childhood was spent learning of the many skills of values of a knight, under his father’s guidance.
At the mere age of nine, Alistair was sent as a page to captain knight Ser Dronic Ilasten, a fond friend of Ser Maver known for his painful pragmatism; morals and honour were the least of his concerns when faced with a problem. It was under his influence that Alistair grew up to become a man that viewed practicality above all else. During this time was enlightened to the knights’ discipline and martial prowesses. While the other pages slept in the early morning, Alistair would be training in the courtyard. While they rested and relaxed, he would be reflecting on his actions. The difference in potential became gradually evident to Ser Dronic, and he grew to favour the boy over the others. When the time came, Ser Dronic personally chose Alistair to squire for him.
Later in his years squiring, Alistair learned a great many things from both careful observation and his inquisitive nature. Ser Dronic was frequently provided personal guidance, teaching him matters in leadership and practical decision-making, as well as the occasional dabble into politics. Alistair showed promise, and was soon on his way to be knighted.
It was a few months after Alistair’s seventeenth Spring that everything changed. A select few knights of higher status had always been jealous of the merits of Alistair’s father. Maver caught wind of a plan devised by those few to brand him a traitor and have him executed without trial. After careful consideration and realising that resistance on his end would be utter futility, he made swift preparations for an escape to Sunberth and sought Alistair under the shroud of night. Betrayed by members of the very order he served, Alistair’s father vowed to have revenge and justice.
Initially confused, Alistair soon grew to understand their predicament. For survival, his father had no choice but to escape. Ravok was out of the question, and Zeltiva would likely sell them out for favours with Syliras. Only the Sun’s Birth in Sunberth would be a safe haven for the two of them.
The two sought out the Sun’s Birth immediately upon arriving in the chaotic city of Sunberth. Upon having their story passed to him, Jardeg Joander immediately accepted Alistair and Maver into the ranks of the Dragoons. With his experience, Maven was soon put into a position of command with Alistair at his side.
Alistair has been serving the Dragoons under the command of his father ever since.
During Autumn of 515 AV, Alistair's father disappeared during an expedition mission. The Dragoons have presumed Maver dead, but Alistair keeps hope that he will one day reunite with his father. |
