What god’s did he know of? Did he knew of Priskil? “Priskil. Priskil is one of the main gods I follow, along with Yahal, Eyris, and Kihala. Hope, faith, knowledge, and life. The four pillars to live life by.” He smiled brightly and release the loop around his neck. As he did he followed her into the rearing stallion. A tavern he was very familiar with, stepping in he glanced about. Normally he would have just slunk through the mess of people over to his seat. Today however is one of the days where he just stood back and watched. He listened, and listened well. Kevith asked her to come back when his wife was in. Alex slunk past fire and gave her a small flash of a smile before going up and having a quiet conversation with kevith.

“Kevith, can you do me a small favour. Just don’t forget about her. Odds are I’ll be back with her in a bell or two and if that’s the case well, y’know.” He smirked and Kevith gave an annoyed nod. But then Alex had stopped a few bar fights without ever raising a hand. Which saved him a lot of money and time. Alex pulled away from kevith with a small smirk and a nod. Turning back to fire he paused a moment. “Suppose we could try the soothing waters now.” He pushed open the door allowing her to walk back out into the whipping winds and the snow. The walk to the soothing waters wasn’t that far from the traveller’s row, a simple five chime walk. However hat was just to the halls the decent of the staircase into the now blissfully warm air was something else he exhaled feeling the warmth crawl into his bones.

“Well this is the soothing waters, I’d say more but…That’s not for me to explain really. The waters is a bath-house as I’ve said so…Yeah.” Alex paused he’d been here before and found that the waters helped significantly with the stresses of the day. “This is the only bathhouse in the city so I assume this is the place you visited, I’d have a chat with the manager I’ll be just over here enjoying the warm air.” He’d allow her to go and chat now and not have to worry about him. Leaning against the wall closest the door he was there as moral support for her.

She’d not heard of the other Gods and wasn’t sure which was associated with what he was saying, “Which God is for what? What do they do… I mean how do they teach you those things?” When she turned to leave she noticed that Alex wasn’t at her side. Turning to look she noticed that he was speaking with the bartender and that the older man had a scowl on his face. She wasn’t sure what he was telling him and decided to probe when he came over, “Everything okay?”

He made mention of the Soothing Waters and she began walking toward the door. Alex opened the door for her and the cold wind wrapped it’s icy fingers around her causing her to shiver under the large cloak. She’d been there once before and had a vague idea of where it was located. Her feet moved her in the direction of the establishment.

Glancing over she watched the various weapons clink and bounce around as the squire walked. She couldn’t fathom carrying that many items around on her person. He gave a rather intimidating impression at first glance. After getting to know him a little he was quite the opposite; polite and kind. She wondered if his Gods had anything to do with it, or if it was just the type of person that he was born as.

As they made their way down the stairs to the pools the air began to warm. He noted that he was going to wait for her by the door while she went and talked to the manager. A soft gulp and she did make her way over toward the desk area. “Excuse me,” she called to the red head, a woman that she’d not seen last time. The woman turned and looked at her, “Do you know if there are any jobs that are available?”

The woman’s eyes roved over Fire, “Unfortunately we’re not hiring any new people currently.” Deflated she gave a nod a of her head and thanked the woman. It wasn’t exactly turning out to be her day in the the job department but at least her belly was full. She tried to use that sliver of positive to motivate her to figure something else out.

Moving toward the doorway where Alex stood she shook her head. “No luck, but the tavern guy said to come back so I’m hoping I might be able to find something there. Were there any other places that you had in mind or should we call it a day?”

Alex watched Firenze go up and talk to the redhead on the counter side, a very brief exchange of words just out of earshot. Alex still watched her visibly shrink. Like all the confidence was being slowly sucked out of her with each turn down after the other. Her move back towards him was one of crushed hopes but a look of resolution filled her as she shook her head and heard her say she was hopeful about the other one. Alex nodded lightly. “Yeah. The one at the stallion should be your best bet. However there is one more place we can try.” He stepped forwards and led the way towards the bulletin board. The last place he thought he could check for a job. Something for her to take a crack at. Normally there were a few advertisements for jobs. Normally for mercenary’s or bounty hunters but there were a few hunting jobs too as he’d learnt in his first couple of weeks in Syliras.

On the walk there Alex glanced to his side looking over at fire and took the opportunity to inform her about the gods. “I…I never fully learnt about the gods. I was given a brief rundown in the city of Nyka. A nice place to look at but…Not the best to live.” He gave a small smile of more generosity than he felt the place fully warranted. “On the other hand. The four gods I mentioned are Priskil the goddess of Hope, Vigilance, Radiance and Light. Yahal, the god of Faith and Purity. Eyris is the goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge. And Kihala is the goddess of Life. Amongst them I’ve thirteen others that I follow. Not least of which is the leader of the knights. Sylir the god of Peace and Civilization.” Alex paused and thought on how his faith had effected his actions. “I try to live my life as a beacon of hope for others. As a point for others to draw strength and resolve from. I hope that how I try to live is, at the very least helping some people.” He gave a small smile full of the thing he preached. Hope.

However upon reaching the board he saw it mostly barren. A few small hunting jobs here and there but nothing that could catch one’s eye. “Sad to say Firenze it’s a little…Empty.” He sighed softly and wondered how to pass the time. “Well that’s a shame. We’ve still got a few bells before Kevith’s other half comes back. And as for what happened back at the tavern I was calling in a favour.” He gave her a soft and well-meaning smile. He as usual was trying to do good by others.

He mentioned that there was another place that they could try after trying to comfort her with the idea of the job at the tavern. As they walked he spoke of the different Gods. Priskil; she knew that one but not what it had stood for. It was good information and she wondered if you prayed to the God… or rather Goddess if you actually received some hope or how exactly it worked. Yahal; faith and purity… she didn’t have much faith as of late. Eyris; wisdom and knowledge could be useful to her and had the same thoughts toward it as Priskil. If you prayed to the Goddess would she guide you with those things? Did they talk back to you or let you know what to do? How did you know it worked? Kihala; Life. Sylir; peace and civilization… that did remind her of the city and thought that it might be named for him.

“There are so many! How do you keep them all straight?” It was interesting that there were so many Gods… and even Goddesses!... for so many different things, but at the same time it made sense because the world was so big. It had to be bigger than the places she’d been. There had to be other cities, somewhere else she could go to see if she fit in. The only place she’d even felt remotely at home had been in Zeltiva and that had been ripped from her hands by Vinicus. She made a note to try to ask Priskil for a bit of that hope to keep her motivated to get back to the city by the Sea.

She was lead to a bulletin board, bits of paper stuck to the surface, it’s surface scared. There were a few jobs that were on it but she didn’t know what they were because she couldn’t understand what was written on the sheets. Instead of admitting to not being able to read it she just approached the board and nodded her head and looked at the squiggle marks and scribbles. Giving an ‘mmhmm’ or an ‘okay’. Stepping back she glanced at him from the corner of her eye to see if he noticed.

A mention was given about the tavern and that it would be a while before they could go back. Giving a hum she contemplated for a moment and then decided to shoot the idea out to him, “would you want to train some more perhaps? I have quite a bit of energy after breakfast.”

Taking her to the bulletin board may not have been the best idea on his part because as soon as she stepped up and started to make some “understanding” sounds he suddenly got hit with a smack of reality. “Oh I’m so sorry…” He literally just remembered the fact she’d told him she could read nor write. A little look of embarrassment on his part she’d told him and he’d made a complete mess of remembering. That wasn’t like him!? Why’d he forget? Why did it slip his mind? Shaking his head firmly he caught her asking to train with him a little more. Considering he was the only one who hadn’t really gotten a hand in teaching her yesterday it seemed like a good opportunity to do so.

“I’m more than happy to train you some more if you’d want. And you can pick whatever you feel comfortable using.” He gave a soft smile and started to lead the way back to the fighter’s pit. “As for how in remember the gods and what they do.” He reached into his armour and pulled the loop of icons off of his neck handing it to her to take a look at. “Each one of them is a god. Their symbol is what they represent. That’s the easiest way for me to recall.” A soft look and a glance to the floor. Something about having that out of his hands and off of his person almost made him feel alone. Distant. Despite having another person so close he felt, lonely. He’d mask it as well as he could for the duration that she held it until she decided to give it back. As in the distance the pits grew close.

“Well Firenze. You wanted to train. Pick a weapon.” He smirked offering a hand out ahead of him, trying his best to not show that pain of loneliness. But offering for her to run ahead and pick something out. He’d grab whatever and use it. He needed to learn how to use whatever he was given anyway.
