The sun anchored itself in the sky, beating down upon the people of Endrykas with a scorching rhythm. Many Drykas were bustling to and fro, bringing water for the members of their Pavilion and their animals, as the temperatures seemed to keep climbing, the further the sun rose in the sky. Caesi, Nu, and Py were heading out to hunt and fish since it was such a warm day, Caesi assumed even animals would be going to the rivers and watering holes to cool down or to quench their thirst. The huntress hummed a tune to herself, as she gathered her belongings for the day ahead of her. Grabbing her hunting arrows, she placed them in her quiver, then put the quiver across her back. Grabbing her fishing tackle, fishing pole, backpack, and shortbow she whistled to Nu. Caesi stepped out of her tent, heading towards Py her Strider when the dog finally decided to follow her command.
Placing her gear in the Yvas bags, she began to mount Py. She slipped and almost fell, but attempted it again and mounted her. Wiggling she adjusted herself on her Strider to get herself more comfortable. The fishing pole was sticking out of the Yvas bags, so she adjusted it so the pole would not hit the horse in the face. Clicking her tongue she urged Py into a fast trot, turning over her shoulder to command Nu to follow. The dog, however, had already began to follow. Caesi smiled shaking her head, as she urged the horse to go faster.
The feel of the wind rushing through her hair, caressing her skin, was pleasing. With the sun beating down upon her, the rush of the wind cooled her. She stroked Py as they rode towards the Moresta River, almost slipping she tightened her knees to keep steady. She tilted to the left, digging in her knees slightly, Py shifted towards the left understanding her rider. Nu followed, tongue out as he ran, looking like he was enjoying stretching out his legs.
As they neared the river, Caesi leaned back whistling low to her Strider, letting her know to slow down. The horse slowed and halted, Nu catching up to them. Caesi grabbed her shortbow, scanning the area up ahead. Surely there will be something.. the Huntress thought to herself, as she dismounted from Py. Patting the horse softly she made a soft cooing noise, before telling her to stay. Adjusting her quiver at her back, she motioned to Nu to come. The dog however, decided sniffing the ground was a better idea. Caesi growled softly, stomping over to Nu to see what was so much more important.
“What is so special?” Caesi asked a bit irritated, making the dogs ears go back. Nu took a step back sitting down, waiting for her to see what he was sniffing at patiently. Caesi frowned at his behavior as she made her way to the dog. Peering down at the ground, there was animal feces upon the ground. She was a little shocked, to say the least, as the dog rarely helped her with hunting as he was still being trained. She stood there for a moment in shock, then looked over at Nu who looked smug. “Good boy!” Caesi said excitedly, reaching over and rustling his fur, praising him. “Someone is getting a treat.” She said with a smile and chuckle, petting him, making his leg thump up and down as she hit his favorite spot, “Good boy Nu.” Caesi praised again laughing.
Turning back to the animal feces she squatted down. The scat was lumpy, round pellets. She reached down feeling the scat to see how fresh it was. The scat was still moist so the animal had to be nearby. She scanned the area to see if there were any more droppings, when she saw none she knew the animal was not in a herd. Maybe there will be tracks.. Caesi thought, searching the area thoroughly near the droppings. Not too far from the droppings were a set of tracks. The bottom was rounded while the tips were in a slight point, the front tracks appeared larger then the back. The hind feet were close to the front, the tracks going in a diagonal.
“Deer?” Caesi asked herself aloud, frowning slightly in thought. Looking in the direction the tracks were headed, the River, she gave a nod. “Let's find out.” Caesi said looking at Nu patting his head softly. Shouldering her backpack, she patted Py, “I will call for you.” Caesi promised the Strider, who nickered softly. Caesi pulled an arrow from her quiver, and started walking towards the River. She bent her knees and crouched down low, trying to stay hidden from the possible deer ahead. Rolling her feet slightly, she eliminated some of the noise she made walking. Casting a glance at Nu, the dog was crouched low on the ground as well, with his head low and ready. Caesi smiled, turning her attention back ahead of her. When she was near the river, Caesi went down even lower, walking slowly, using the tall grass as cover. The Moresta River came into view, so Caesi halted. Gripping her arrow, she observed the area before her.
